I hope they create new and interesting diverse characters from now on, and don’t repeat the same mistake. They could expand on cool characters like vixen, bumble bee, and Icon (who are some of my favorite young black characters)

I think it's the no non-combatant side characters that rules Rick out. I know technically he has thrown hands before but his sidekick role feels similar in vibe to Jimmy Olsen in my opinion

True, but he's so forgettable to the majority of the public, or even comic readers, that he can't be considered an all time great Also he's usually a non combatant, and in that lane, jimmy Olsen is more iconic

Wally west because hes the example of taking up the legacy of a famous hero as the flash and becoming better and exceeding the character of the flash. The post crisi flash run is by far what made the character. Speedforce was created under wally. All the classic storyarcs except the death of iris west have wally as the flash

All that’s left is the MT. Rushmore of superhero teams and love interests

I wanna add that as Robin, Tim Drake arguably reached the highest level of capability in combat before Damian arrived. Yes, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd outclass his combat skills. They were very skilled combatants in their time as Robin, but they reached their highest combat proficiency in the roles they graduated to after leaving the role of Robin. Tim on the other hand, stayed in the Robin role for longer, eventually transitioning into Red Robin, but during his time as Robin he achieved one of the most proficient and well rounded skill sets on top of his incredible detective skills I still think that Dick gets the spot for the mantel’s historical significance of being the first Robin, being the character that first introduced the sidekick archetype, him acting as the first leader of the Teen Titans, and what he represents as the perfect image of what a Robin should be and eventually grow into Also, I wanna add that a lot of characters are hard to categorize with whether they are or aren’t a sidekick with how many of them either graduated into a more distinct hero or always felt like a more adjacent character. For instance, every former Robin was a sidekick with most of them eventually moving on to a different role, all of the Batgirls could be considered sidekicks, but even without and especially with whenever they transition to a separate hero name, the Batgirls all eventually transition to a semi-solo hero career. Wally West is a very significant sidekick, but is also arguably an equally iconic character as Barry Allen, with his years as the man Flash, the brief eras where they both had the mantel, and his recent return to being the main Flash. And characters like Supergirl and Superboy both felt like more adjacent characters to Superman in their most iconic appearances. All of that being said, I agree with the picks here

I think doing a Rushmore of superhero teams next would be cool to sort of explore the history of teams outside the avengers and the justice league. Talk about the invaders and the justice society. How the X-men almost died. Even the lesser know history of the aforementioned avengers would be cool considering most peoples view on them is largely shaped by the mcu

I think the next Mt. Rushmore should probably be the love interest Rushmore. Or maybe even a superpowers Rushmore

Dick Grayson and Wally West are my 2 favorite superheroes of all time, so I'm happy they finally get to lead a Rushmore.

I think Kitty Pryde could be argued for the Marvel side. Her time with Wolverine is pretty iconic and I think you could argue she was the entire X-men’s sidekick at one point. I think she definitely has had a bigger impact on comics than Wong for sure and if you could argue Wong, Warmachine and Falcon I think you could argue for Kitty as well

I feel like the logical next Rushmore is either anti heroes or love interests

No callout for Krypto the Superdog is a shame

Not including Wasp in Marvel's sidekick Rushmore is absolutely insane. I know you could argue she doesn't count because she's both Ant-Man's partner and equal, but in that case, War Machine shouldn't count either. I know Wong is currently more popular than Wasp, but that's only because MCU Wong is a better character than MCU Wasp. Wasp was a founding member of the Avengers, and was the one to name the team. She'd go on to lead the team during the Under Siege and Avengers Forever storylines. Not only that, but before the MCU, she would consistently appear in Avengers media outside of the comics, including the criminally underappreciated Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon. In fact, I'd go as far as to say she's Marvel's most notable sidekick, with the sole exception of Bucky. The only reason she's currently not as popular as characters like Falcon and Wong is because of how the MCU has mishandled both Janet and her daughter, and I have a feeling that once the MCU is finally over she'll regain some of her lost popularity.

DC number 4 I thought would be Aqualad, but knowing that neither version is iconic enough because of the other while both being sidekicks to everyone’s favorite joke hero.

Personally I’d go with Supergirl instead of Speedy for that last spot. Based on how iconic she is as a character and how she’s always so much more raw and emotional than Supes can be at times.

Honestly, I wouldn't even consider Supergirl a sidekick at this point. If we did then I would include her over speedy, I think she's a lot more influential (especially in outside media) but I don't really think of her that way.

So before even watching I know Dick Grayson and Wally West gotta be making the monument. Edit: Nailed it.

I think Johnny Storm the Human Torch should be considered a sidekick to the Fantastic Four, so he should definitely make the list.

I will argue that supergirl is far more influential and important than speedy to the dc mythos, and early supergirl definitely fits the “sidekick” role, since she was a supporting character in almost all his comics for a time

16:30 I am glad they went with falcon in the MCU. If you look into Falcon’s comic history it’s just as extensive as Bucky’s. Not to mention he follows Steve’s ideals more than Bucky. Hell, it was Falcon who mentored and watch over Bucky when he had the mantle. MCU Bucky isn’t the same as comic Bucky. Not only he wasn’t his sidekick, but he had absolutely no interest in taking over as Cap, at least not now. Sam Wilson, both in the comics & MCU is overqualified to be Cap.

I think a Comic Book Love Interests Mt Rushmore might make for an interesting vid for the most famous depictions of women in comics. Lois Lane, Mary Jane Watson, Pepper Potts, Gwen Stacy, Catwoman, Iris West, Betty Ross. Many names come to mind to make that a compelling question to answer. Unless you think that would be overdoing it with these vids which I also get lol

Wallace west was an attempt at making a more diverse cast. But failing to realize the character had a history and fanbase that love the original character. So they back pedaled bc you can’t just change a loved character like that. Hope from now on they make new and interesting diverse characters rather than changing old ones.

I’d have put Rick Jones onto the mountain, he’s the only character, besides Bucky, that I can think of who’s been an outright sidekick in Marvel, he’s been Captain America’s, Captain Marvel, teamed up with Rom the Spaceknight and most notably the Hulk’s sidekicks plus he’s taken the mantle of Captain Marvel and became a Hulk in the form of A-Bomb. He’s the reason the Avengers formed in the first place through the Teen Brigade, he’s been an honorary Avenger longer than almost all of the Avengers roster, often helping them by leaking information of corrupt cites and weapons such as Pleasant Hill, and is the reason The Hulk exists in the first place. Whilst he hasn’t had the “MCU Bump” die to rights, it’s also more just that people don’t utilise the Hulk’s rogues gallery and supporting cast properly. He’s had a several Animated appearances such as the 90’s Incredible Hulk and Fantastic Four cartoons and most recently in the past decade was apart of the Avenger’s Assemble animated universe in Hulk and the agents of S.M.A.S.H and appearing (from my understanding) in the Spider-Man show airing at the same time as a Venom host. I’d also like to mention Janet Van Dyne’s ‘The Wasp’ the reason for her lack of popularity is primarily because the MCU version is Hope and not her, she was a founding Avenger, coming up with the teams name, been apart of the most notable incarnations of the team and has had the best adaption of herself in the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cartoon (design wise and character wise).

The Ultimate Alliance soundtrack is so nostalgic. Also good list apart from Wong I'd go Rick Jones or Jubilee.

I get why you didn’t count Miles Morales as a sidekick but you could’ve at least mentioned him.

So cassandra deserves the spot more than barbara, but shes no where as popular so im not upset. Out of all the batfamily, cassandra understands and respects the dedication to the mission the most. She's the only batgirl who could truly take on the role of gothams primary protector in a way even Dick couldn't. Dick would/did change and evolve what the batman was during his time, but Cass would do things almost exactly as Bruce did. Shes just as obsessed with the mission and preventing death as batman himself. Its a difference of Dick wanting to help everyone, while cass wants to ensure nobody has to die. Same results usually, but different methods

Pretty great Rushmore videos! If you plan on doing a superheroes outside of marvel and dc you have to put in the ninja turtles in one whole spot. Yeah it would be weird putting in four characters in one spot but like come on. Yeah you can have solo outings for each of the turtles but you can’t have them separated forever

Marvel one is debatable. Personally I probably would have put Rick Jones as he is arguably THE sidekick in marvel comics but I guess he’s not like super well known to casual fans. I’ve honestly never really thought of Falcon or War Machine as sidekicks tho I suppose it’s debatable. Wong I see as more of an Alfred type figure. I think someone like Jubilee or Kitty Pryde from the X-Men would’ve have made more sense.

Minion MT Rushmore?

Make a slept on characters Mt. Rushmore for Marvel and DC. These are VERY subjective though, and it really depends on how obscure you want to go! For me Marvel would be: Blue Marvel, Darwin, Molecule Man, and Beta Ray Bill. DC: Mongul, Owl Man, Jay Garrick, and Orion.

His absence from the MCU aside, how is Rick Jones not Marvel's greatest sidekick character? Sidekick to The Hulk, Captain America, Rom the Spaceknight and two different Captain Marvels. He even was part of the reason the original Avengers came together. The final Mount Rushmore should have been Robin, Batgirl, Bucky and Rick Jones.

My personal biases would've argued for a version of Aqualad over Speedy but I get the decision, and the slim pickings from Marvel meant anyone after Bucky and Sam was a toss-up so I agree there too. On the combined Rushmore tho I think Sam should've replaced Babs.

Miles Morales?? yes he's his own spiderman, but so are most of the other sidekicks listed. he goes on patrol with peter, they fight together, he was trained by peter, and since spiderverse he's close to rivalling peter in popularity. How was he not considered on this list?
