I believe anything that involves the core as it’s primary stabiliser for the movement I think is amazing core core strength & I guess it helps a good amount with an development.

Military has done sit-ups for years. Within the last few years they realized it has been causing back pain and it also was not a good way to measure ab endurance. They changed it to a pull up but after realizing so many people could not do one pull up 😂😂😂 they went to a plank. I personally like the pull up but the plank is good. I still do sit ups and crunches but not at the rate i use to.

I never work abs directly and I have visible abs ripped. I focus entirely on compound lifts and I never sit while doing some of them . I stand!!!

I like crunches, like what you were doing at the start. Not too hard, but still gives a soft workout

U also got weighted crunch’s with a cable around the back of ur neck and you kneel on the ground, very good for getting that stretch in at the flexion and the extension

Mobility is important. And it looks like that crunch was stiff. But for abs inverted or upside down sit up 🤞🏽

Sit up and crunch are the basic fundamental we've been taught since childhood from school gyms and adults we've looked up To. It's easy for kids to perform and build abs and streghthing core muscle.

They barely work your core and can cause spinal problems and muscle imbalances. The upper abs are true most activated in these exercises and are more developed than the mid and lower abs. Leg raises, dragon flags and plank variations are way better.

Hey Austin, you have been my all time fitness hero bro... Feels good to be back to this channel after such a long time. I would just like to ask you if I will be missing any chest gains if I swapped all my push ups with divebomber push ups... The most difficult form of divebomber push ups, which is feet pressed against a wall (feet on the floor, not elevated), high pike, and feet together... The reason I ask this is because divebomber are three times more difficult to me than push ups, but also they don't work the pecs quite the exact same way that push ups do... On the other hand divebombers are the most efficient way, more so that push ups to actually work your pressing muscles to failure, aka your nervous system isn't engaged with the core the exact same way that a push up demands, which gives more emphasis on pressing muscles for the whole movement. What do you think buddy?

Old school was simply leg raises and straight legs situp with no weight(after beginner phase) on the feet to block them

I do 200 sit-ups a day and my abs are starting to develop quite well, but I also do 4 sets of leg raises, 4 sets of flutter kicks, and 4 sets of elbow to knee sit-ups for side abs. The sit-up works well for fatiguing the upper abs IMO. I definitely wouldn’t recommend solely just doing only sit-ups for ab development

you don't have to do sit ups or add weight and do a decline or whatever he said. 90% of it will come down to how low your body fat percentage is as everyone has abs, you just have to lose all that fat so you can see those abs. Now if you were to train your abs, just pick 1 or 2 core exercises with a set or 2 at most 3 times a week after your push/pull/legs workout whatever. Some core exercises I would recommend is the L-Sit, Hollow Body Hold, Leg raises while hanging on a bar with a full range of motion. Yes, Isometrics will help you build your abs.

Dragon flags and hollow body holds are also crazy. But the an wheel and dragon flags require a lot of form, technique, and general body strength to even incorporate into your sessions.

Yeah but if someone only as a small amount of belly fat with no ab muscles if he grows his core muscles his 6 pack will show with out losing really any much fat
