    Watched the Redeem Team this weekend, and one of the major themes was how just having a team full of superstars isn't enough; you need cohesiveness in the team. It's a team sport, and you need to play as a team to win at the highest level.

    From the 31st of March till the 19th of May. In those 7 weeks (49 days) Arsenal have a minimum of 12 games and a maximum of 14 games. That means Arsenal will have to play a game every 3 to 4 days in the run in. Tomiyasu, Zinchenko, Timber, Partey, Jesus & Trossard will be crucial if we are to win a Major trophy. I expect all of them to get starts. I don’t think we will have the same starting team game to game but going forward. Only thing I want to see is either Zinchenko or Jorginho to be on the pitch at all times. We lack some passing from deep when either isn’t playing.

    Couldn’t agree more with Bhavss14 about how boring watching England was. I was there last night vs Belgium. It makes you so grateful to be an Arsenal fan. How we play so slow and so toothless with such incredible players is beyond me. Why we decided to play such a high line the moment we have NO pace in the back line was quite odd. No atmosphere, took an age to get in and out the stadium. Best part of the night was the post match Curry.

Now it's time to make a statement. Not to show other fans, the media or any of that though. But for the massive boost it would give us for the title run in and ahead of Bayern.

    You can’t win a double or treble or a league with 12 players. You have to be able to switch players based on opposition while allowing others to rest and recover properly. Jorginho is playing Partey isn’t, Kai is upfront Jesus isn’t, and that whole dynamic works across the pitch asides for Odegaard and Saka. We should be able to use the whole team to get the best out of the season.

    The issue with internationals especially at this time of year are some of the things you mentioned. If one of our key players gets injured playing a dumb friendly it could be season over for us. You said they would maybe get injured anyway even if we had a PL match instead of a friendly. This of course is possible, but not probable. Most injuries result from a specific series of events that would not have happened on a different day at a different time in a different location. Another point I heard from a player who played for the England ladies, she said that International tactics, set up, patterns are different to club and also the positions that players are asked play are often also different. Then when they return to club football, it can be difficult to immediately unlearn the styles and requirements of international play. She said it can take a couple of games to get back into the clubs style and patterns which can affect the outcomes of important matches. A final note, Im disgusted that Rice had to play the full 90 minutes.

  • @proppamedzja
    @proppamedzjaАй бұрын

    Strongly disagree with Goerge. Players tend to get injured in games not in training. Also, there are divergent interests for club vs country managers (southgate playing Rice 90mins then starting him 3 days later increases his probability of injury. At the very least, it sets him up poorly for the run in at club level). Every epl game matters. Plus clubs pay the bulk of player wages. Thats why we get more aggrevated when players get injured in intl friendlies. It's a valid gripe to have.

    Alex, I take issue with your claim that the football takes care of everything. Although it's not an either/or issue, Arteta clearly put culture right at the top of the pile. I think fans forget that managing national team and club is too different jobs. Listen how Wenger was comparing these jobs even he didn't manage a national team. Lots of winning teams had certain relationships between players. Dominating Spain team had most players from Real and Barca. Best German teams had most players from top 3 teams in Bundeslyga. Same about Italy. France had exceptions, but even 2000's France team had a lot of core players certain team they played together. National team manager doesn't have enough time implementing certain style of play through a year. Clubs fans moaning when their best player go on internacional brakes worrying they can get injured and effect their clubs season results. I was born in a era, when Euro's and World cups were biggest and most important competitions, biggest honour for players to show up. Todays football is only based on clubs interest. England fans want Southgate to show the best, but moan when team leaders are called up seeing danger of effect on their favorite clubs season performances. And huge money through all these years made that change. It's not even honour now for best managers to coach national teams, because they make biggest honour and MONEY coaching their clubs.

Considering Arsenal's horrible record of using and abusing our youth players, I can't believe his right wing still hasn't been addressed.
