Why PzH 2000 Artillery Are No Joke

Ғылым және технология

For centuries, artillery has proven to be a vital component in the battlefield. A modern German self-propelled howitzer known as the Panzerhaubitze or PzH 2000 is among the most powerful artillery systems currently deployed. This artillery is also one of Germany’s scariest ground vehicles and will be sent to Ukraine along with anti-aircraft tanks and other military equipment to support Ukraine army. Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced that Germany will supply Ukraine with seven self-propelled armored howitzers. Lambrecht made the announcement while visiting Slovakia to meet the German troops stationed in the eastern European country which shares a small border with Ukraine. Not only that, but Germany also provides training in the use of this heavy artillery. So, how dangerous is this Germany’s artillery system, and what is it capable of?

    any opponent should fear the "panzerhobbits": they come unseen, they shoot incredibly fast and very precise and they are gone, when the enemy realizes, what has happened. and unlike ordinary hobbits, they don't shoot slingshots, but they "happen" to shoot 155mm artillery rounds, causing really bad damage to any target. artillery systems should not considered by the number of cannons but by the damage they cause to the enemy. the number of delivered pzh 2000 systems is not that great. but the damage they do is absolutely relevant. they hurt the enemy every day.

    🔴 WASHINGTON - A third of the roughly 350 Western-made howitzers donated to Kyiv are out of action at any given time, according to U.S. defense officials and others familiar with Ukraine’s defense needs. Ukrainian troops fire thousands of explosive shells at Russian targets every day, using high-tech cannons supplied by the United States and its allies. But those weapons are burning out after months of overuse, or being damaged or destroyed in combat, and dozens have been taken off the battlefield for repairs, according to U.S. and Ukrainian officials.

    The people who I listen, have connections on the Ukrainian front are saying that PhZ 2000 is basicly not good artillery, can shoot only certifed ammo(which is a problem and makes this sophisticated machine usless), the electronic needs recalibration after driving from point to point, very delicate auto loader, which can be repaired only in authorised service point. There are diffrent PhZ(diffrent brands) which don't have those problems. I always have fun reading german people saying that their military staff are the best in the world. PZH2000 can only fire special German made 155mm rounds with weaker charge to fire more rounds per minute and they are not compatible with NATO 155mm which damaged barrels during Ukraine war. What that means is that the US and S Korean made 155mm NATO rounds can't be used in PZH2000 thus client states have to rely on German 155mm round made for PZH2000 only. Ukraine fired 5,000 artillery a day compared to 50,000 rounds fired by Russian army thus not using compatible NATO 155mm will suffer with ammunition shortage during the war.

  • @Hunki23

    @Hunki23

    Not correct! It can very well use 155 NATO ammunition, but then only has a range of about 30km. With increased range projectiles up to 40 km. There is also SMArt155 - DM702, an intelligent, autonomous and highly effective "fire and forget" artillery shell with high cost effectiveness. Of course there is also an adapted ammunition mix. With its 155 mm ammunition family, Rheinmetall offers a variety of ammunition types for maximum range and effect on different targets. These include explosive projectiles - also with insensitive explosives, flare projectiles in the IR and visual range, multispectral smoke projectiles, the SMArt search fuse ammunition and training projectiles.

    This is not correct, in the beginning there were primarily problems with ammunition that left too much dust when fired. The problem with most bullets was solved by adding them to the loading computer. And which standart 155 Amo do you mean? There are hundrets of different 155mm Amo types used in the Nato and the PzH can use many of them and it's possible to add other ammo types to the loading and targeting computer - the ukrainians did it self in some cases with the support of KMW.
