WHY NICK SWARDSON WAS THROWN INTO A DOWNWARD SPIRAL

Ойын-сауық

Nick Swardson opens up on the crazy set of circumstances that lead to his insane summer-long bender and eventual hospitalization last year.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Nick Swardson (Grandma's Boy, Just Go with It) returns to the show this week to share his crazy stories of alcohol induced benders and how one of these ultimately lead to his hospitalization and near death scare. Nick opens up on how the recent loss of close friends and loved ones have contributed to a downward spiral, and how he is now living sober. We get into frustrations trying to get projects passed by networks, his experience with the likes of Adam Sandler and David Spade, and creative new shows that Nick is self funding to get out there.

I drink around 10 beers a night. There were times I was drinking almost a case ever night. I'm starting to smoke pot more again and plan to quit drinking and golf all summer long this year. Wish me luck.

weed is a good substitute as long as you don’t let it replace your habits. Smoking recreationally is a lot better for your brain than smoking everyday. Golf will definitely help you though being active is a big part is being sober

Good substiute as long as it doesn't control your life. I don't see weed controlling your life like alcohol or other substances. If it makes you want to reach for something else, stop.

If you watch this interview compared to one of his first ones after he got better…you can tell he’s coming to grips with why he drank. The earlier ones are like “I just like drinking I don’t have a problem”…this one is “here’s why I drank and here’s why I stopped” and much more into the emotional issues behind it. I’m happy he’s at that point.

I drank like a moron for years... so glad I finally grew out of it. I can honestly say I hate alcohol now. I dont like the feeling of being drunk. I dont like the taste of beer or liquor anymore. I was never one of those people that when I quit drinking, I couldn't stand to see booze or I would want to drink. In fact it was quite the opposite. I can't stand to be around people when they drink now, for some reason it really fucking annoys me to be around a drunk now lol. I try to drink sometimes and just cant anymore. I go buy booze every now and then and I'll mix a drink or crack a beer open and then not even finish it, and end up giving the rest of the pack of beer or bottle away. I used to be one hell of a drinker or alcoholic but one day man, it just clicked to me. I had been drinking almost every day or at least 2-3 nights out of the week if not every day since I was in high school and I was like 32 at the time. It just seemed like juvenile, lame, and an old thing to do. A complete waste of time, so I quit. I didn't even have withdrawals or anything... I just like slowly drank all the shit I had in the house and when it was all gone, I stopped going to the liquor store and that was it. Now I need to do the same thing with smokes, but cigs are on a whole different level. I hate smoking, but that is the thing I cant quit lol...

"Alcohol and Xanex are the 2 worst come downs on earth" . What a cute little thought . Nick I pray for your soul that you keep it together so you never have to find out those 2 come downs are just dipping your toes in the water. It gets deep, 8/10 of us drown in it. I pray anyone reading this will never know that life, nobody deserves it. We will ruin and destroy everything, your love for us will turn to hate. But I beg you, never give up on us. I struggle with which is more selfish, keeping someone here to suffer or leaving everyone with the baggage of suicide? She went through mental hell for years and tried many avenues of therapy. So it wasn't like she didn't try. I guess there are many reasons people take there own way out... And I'm not sure we can ever judge if there own pain was too much to bare or if it was just an illusion they could have overcome..

I'm the kind of guy that can't just have two drinks. To someone who's an overachiever drinker, what's the point of just two? My wife helped me to stop drinking and I thank her for saving my life. She's the type of person that CAN have only 2-3 drinks and be done for the night. Those people don't understand the evil little voice that tells us to go off the rails. You feel trapped and scared as hell that you can't actually quit by yourself. During 2020, I thought I could just casually drink with my wife. I was wrong. That evil voice came right back after a few drinks. I had been sober for 10 freaking years. That told me there was no way I could do it and just had to say no all together. I know how I am and my life would go down the tubes if I drink, even a little bit. Fuck alcohol. The stuff is in our faces all the time on tv, gas stations, parties, restaurants etc. Totally legal for us to fuck our lives up. Same goes for cigs in my opinion.

She's talking about how a lot of artists are realizing lately it's too easy to get canceled in today's climate. So, instead of sharing their opinion on social media and getting trapped into a forced narrative, they'd rather subliminally advertise their perspective and what side they're on. His hat is a pyramid scheme symbol from rvca and his hoody is from the diamond supply co.. However you want to put those two together and what it means is on you. That way he can't get words put in his mouth and it's up to the fans who support him. Swardsons been around WAY too long to fall for any trap laid by even the slickest interviewers.
