This is why Feige is great at his job. The average studio head would not care about the quality or impact of Logan in the face of another film because the goal is to make money period. Him having that perspective while also being able to adjust and get onboard once everyone was confident in the story they were telling demonstrates why the man is where he is.

He truly deserves the label of Hollywood’s most financially successful producer, the man has impeccable story sensibilities despite some of his stumbles in the last few years. But I dare another producer to recreate what he did from Iron Man to Endgame and have an audience grow and follow you all the way to your multi year story’s conclusion. I’d even throw in Spiderman NWH because that was another event movie that damn near crossed 2 billion dollars.

No matter what as long as he is in charge AND given the creative leeway to make decisions with out micromanagement from others (cough cough Chapek era cough cough) I will have faith in, and give Feige the benefit of the doubt, even post Endgame.

John is misunderstanding what Feige was saying. He wasn't talking about the risk of potentially making a bad movie after a great one, he was saying reviving that take on the character or undoing the death would ruin the impact of Logan's ending. Which it would.

There are people in here who are upset that Jackman is coming back as Wolverine, yet they are also saying bring back Robert Downey Jr to reprise Ironman in an alternate universe.

Logan is a great sendoff for the character. Bringing a fan favorite back to play in the greatest sandbox Hollywood ever created is a great sendoff for the actor and what he did for the genre.

This is why I love Feige, he knew bringing Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds together will make huge amount of money, but the story is first. Let's hope bringing Hugh back is story worth telling

One can understand where Feige is coming from, the bigger disservice would have been not letting this man, who has portrayed this character who so many love for so long, not be the first Wolverine in the MCU. The character can be recast later, but Hugh has more than earned the privilege of bringing him to the MCU first.

Thats why I respect and appreciate Feige, he can simultaneously come to the conclusion that they shouldn’t tarnish or mess with Logans fabulous ending but also have the intelligence and foresight to come around on that once faced with a story and premise he deems worthy of Jackmans return. He knows when to listen to others.

Personally Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman supposedly from another universe does not seem like that would make Deadpool 3 a complete failure. I can understand where Feige is coming from as far as how Successful the movie Logan was and its ending.

I mean, I guess we have different desires. I want Hugh Jackman the actor to come back, not the outfit. :) But like a lot of people, I didn't read the comics. So, I'm glad comic book readers will enjoy that part but I personally would be fine no matter what he wore as long as his acting is similar.

I actually agree with Kevin Feige, I thought they should’ve just left things alone and not had Hugh come back, because Logan was a perfect ending for the character, and you can throw whatever “It’s not the same Wolverine as this universe” bullshit at me all you want, I don’t care, it’s still Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, I’m always gonna have the association no matter what, for me I actually was never demanding to see Deadpool and Wolverine together in a movie, don’t get me wrong it sounded like a neat idea but I was never like “We absolutely need this or it’ll be the biggest missed opportunity in the history of cinema!” Or something like a lot of other people were, I do still hope this appearance by him is enjoyable, I’m just saying that I was always on the side of “They should’ve just left things where they were with Logan”

It’s understandable but I’ve always wanted 2 things from Hugh’s wolverine 1. I wanted to see him rip people apart and actually see the blood and the berserker rage. I know we got that in Logan for only one movie and I always wanted to see him in the comic accurate suit so my wishes have been granted. Fingers crossed for the movie

But to that I point to stuff like Iron Fist and Defenders, and a lot of Agents of Shield, Inhumans there was plenty of bad Marvel TV in the past too Just like there was good stuff. Thor 2 Iron Man 2 The first Hulk Movie. the MCU was never perfect it's that we were starved for content, now we're overfed.

Logan is my all time favorite movie with Wolverine, nothing will change that.

If Deadpool 3 sucks then John is right, Logan will still be a great movie. Now the legacy of the character could absolutely be tarnished but no one is saying it'll make Logan retroactively bad. When a band comes out of retirement and releases a bad album it doesn't make their other work bad, it just ruins their current image.

What John doesn't realize is this: Logan wasn't just a send-off for the character of Wolverine. It was a send-off for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Part of why the end was so emotional was because it was the last time we saw Jackam as Logan... And now, with Jackman coming back, wether Deapool 3 is good or bad, it's undone.

Micheal Jordan on the wizards was not fun either

The wolverine in Logan is a variant! It was never meant to be Fox's main timeline, as it was a pull off Old Man Logan. It wasn't until it got good reviews, and behind the scenes it became more aperent the fox is moving on with the younger version and leaving behind the adult ones that They just decided to slap "Swan Song" on it after the fact to drive up revenue. It was a benzodiazepine of a film, & I'm glad Hugh gets to come back & give the character a proper send off, against a proper Deadpool.

Highlander is in my top 10 as well. Highlander 2 renegade version is better (a little lol) than the theatrical cut.

That either changed during the making of the movie, or they only said it to avoid spoilers at the time, because Fiege has confirmed (in the same interview the video is about) that it is a variant of Wolverine, not the one from Logan.

So John’s analogy in this video makes no sense….and it doesn’t address what Feige’s concerns were. Feige’s concerns were about the final resolution of the Wolverine Character. Not how the quality of Deadpool 3 would affect people’s appreciation of Logan the Film. So comparing it to how bad Highlander Ii is as a film and how it doesn’t change how we feel about the original does not apply. A better analogy for using Highlander II was if Highlander II was actually good…and we compared Sean Connery’s character returning from the dead…and how that doesn’t change how we feel about his death in the first film. But Highlander II is not good, and then character return is not handled well…so it really doesn’t apply 😢

logan is overrated. yes im in the minority. it repeated elements from previous movies. The Wolverine was solid and james mangold directed that. people bitch about the silver samurai but that was better than seeing wolverine fight wolverine in the next movie. hugh is going to go out with a bigger bang in deadpool III. Disagree, but not for the reason said in the video. Deadpool 3 does take one thing away from Logan, no matter if it's great or awful, and that's the title of Hugh's last appearance as Wolverine. It doesn't matter what in the lore excuse you give. In the real world, it's pushing down the pin of finality. Eventually, we'll have Hugh's last appearance, and I hope it's a great one, but it's not Logan anymore.

Admittedly it sounded crazy. Wound up getting an Oscar nomination (and could have credibly garnered additional ones, namely acting honors to Jackman and Stewart) and profiting nicely.

Feige is just afraid of something being successful in the MCU that he can't take credit for. He is worried about this movie showing him up by being better than the stuff in the MCU he WANTS people to like even though lots of it failed to work out for him such as Captain Marvel and replacing all the main characters with a Female version of that character. It's not enough for the MCU to be successful but he wants it successful on his terms.

@@MrBrock314 No, it was way worse. Catwoman wasn't really bad. And all the criticism against it was simply not true. If anyone had ever switched on their brains when seeing that movie, they would have realized it was about female empowerment. But since she was sexy, no one wanted to see it because, according to common prejudice, a strong woman can't be sexy and a sexy woman can't be strong. The fact that she didn't fall for the male lead in the end shows how wrong all those claims are. To my knowledge, the next movie that had the guts to do the same was Barbie.

I do not take kindly to the battlefield earth slander here. Not cool Guys

I actually agree with Feige, same feeling I have with RDJ and Chris Evans

Logan was an Oscar winning masterpiece and the perfect ending for his character! Now he returns for a childish movie full of stupid jokes.

I'm on the minority, but I don't understand the love for Logan. It was good, but the old run down Wolverine was sad to watch for me, and I was bored through most of it. Then he dies at the end? Dumbass way to go out too lol.

for me hugh jackman was just average as wolverine... he's just the first. I never see him as wolverine. He doesn't look the role.
