There is a combination of things that came together to bring us Angelina. She was exposed to jazz at an early age, probably while still in the womb. Her grandfather was a big jazz/blues lover. Her grandmother is a poet and artist, her mother is also musically talented. They spotted Angelina's talent early, at around 12 months, there is video of her at 18 months singing into a microphone she is holding. They arranged for her to go to a school with a good music program. Her first time in a recording studio was at 5, singing I Who Have Nothing. She had her first audition with Norway's Got Talent 201 and she left the judges speechless singing Gloomy Sunday. at some point she passed her 8th birthday performing I'm a Fool to Want You, Bang Bang, and the final song was Summertime. She won! Her next BIG milestone was AGT The Champions where she performed her own arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody and stunned the whole audience, and the Judges. Simon Cowell, Alisha Dixon and Howie Mandell were blown away by it and waxed lyrical. Heidi Klum hit the Golden Buzzer.the surviving members of Queen were so impressed with her treatment of Bohemian Rhapsody that they gifted her the rights to her version. She continues to grow musically.

As you get into Angelina deeper you will find she is the driving force behind her interpretations of the songs. Her mother has stated many times that Angelina chooses her songs and how she wants them to sound. She sings them the way she thinks they should be. You will find her in many rehearsals directing the musicians as to what she wants. You can see her even at age seven showing trumpet player during rehearsal for Summertime telling him she want the Long version in the key of A and points up to get him to go higher. By eight she is arranging lyrics and music to fit her desires. By nine she is the boss. I believe though she is a prodigy she is also a musical genius

I always like your extra deep dives into what Angelina is doing. I think you said something very early that is very important to why Angelina is different than a lot of singers. She always chooses the songs she wants to sing. She makes it her own because she is singing songs that mean something to her. They are songs that invoke feelings in her, and that makes her more likely to invoke feelings in the listener. I think too often singers will sing a song just to be singing, and not have a real connection to it. Every song I have heard Angelina sing, I can hear her connection to it. Her connection becomes _my_ connection, and I understand the song in a way I didn't before she sang it. It has happened many times with many songs. ...songs I have heard all my life, and didn't "get it" until a 10,11,12 year old Angelina "explained" it to me. I think you have a lot of followers that are aspiring singers and watching to get information on how to improve their craft. My biggest piece of advice to those people (coming from a person that is not a singer)... Don't let others pick the song you sing, choose songs that really _mean_ something to you.

She has been a professional performer for years - ever since she won Norways got talent in 2014! And she just LOVES to be on stage - no nerves whatsoever. When sjhe was 8 she performed "Ill be there" in a show in Sweden, and even though she was quite sick - she insisted on going on stage. And you can hear that she was not quite well during the performance (her voice cracked some times). But it proved that she is a real stage artist - (The show must go on)! By the way - she also covered a song by Queen with this title. She has a number of studio version covers, but you need to hear her live to get full understanding of her potential and musical intelligence.

Thank you Dr. Marc. I always enjoy your analysis and observations. Her stage presence never fails to amaze me. She’s 10. Live audience. Live band. Either live television or being recorded. Cameras moving around her. And she just owns the performance like a 40 year old veteran. Never shows fear or nervousness. Other live performances I like are the songs with Alan Walker, Sing Me to Sleep/Faded. Boris’ video has both songs. Also the performance of I’ll Be there in Sweden. She had a bad cold during that performance but I find it one of her most emotional performances. She was 8. Commanded the stage again.

Watching this video was like watching a toddler fall into a pool filled with Piranha Fish as they leave nothing on the bones. A sad fact is Dr. Marc Reynolds, on the left side has done 8 reactions to Angelina Jordan, and in each of these he was blown away by her talent, and never had a negative thing to say. As a matter of fact, he suggested that his students watch these videos as a learning tool Let us not forget; not a single one of these 3 can name someone that they have coached that has signed with a major record label, I asked that question and did not get an answer.

The interesting thing to about all these years with Angelina is the difference between what we see when she sings a cover in her make-shift studio where she does her covers, and what they have become by the time she thinks they're concert ready. Sometimes I scratch my head and wonder how it went from here to there. I do know one thing she has great instincts. I recently saw her sing a practice of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight' and somebody did a mash-up with the Elvis's version in his 1968 Live concert. She even did the speaking part. The person who put it together had them do some alone and some in sync with each others performance. It really gives you insight into how she approaches a song that just might make it into her concert catalog. She has a tremendous talent for mimicry, cause she sounds like she could be Elvis's grand-daughter. It was like when she was on AGT Champions she had such a Norah Jones feel to her songs. I was also shocked by the amount of runs she did. I had never heard her incorporate so many before. What that showed me is she has a long range plan of not letting herself get tied to a certain style until she has tried them all. It wouldn't surprise me at all if she tried Rock and, or Rock and Roll. She doesn't want to get bored so even though she was trying and learning new stuff she never plays it safe. She always carries a part of what she is working on into her performances. By the way Doc., I wish you would do some reacting to Daneliya Tuleshova. She is from Kazakhstan same, as Dimash, yes they are very good friends, and burst on to the seen with her blind audition for The Voice Kids Ukraine. She was 10 and a little over 4'0" tall and skinny on top of that. She sang 'Stone Cold' and all four coaches tured before she had the first line out. Well that video went viral, and more than 59 million views later she in now on the precipice of world-wide fame with her appearance on this seasons AGT. Daneliya won that Voice competition. She has gone on to win a couple other competitions. She earned a spot in the Euro-Vision competition where she finished sixth at 11 years old. To say she has a big voice is an understatement. Even now at barely 5'0" tall and still skinny, she is a young girl with a woman's voice. She is a delightful young lady who is as beautiful as she is talented. The reason I kind of put her together with Angelina is I "discovered" them both three nights apart over three years ago. I have chronic health issues and deal with pain and fatigue all day every day. But it always seems to be worse at night. So I search the internet looking for voices. They are also the same age 14, Angelina is six months older. They both have voices that belong with older women. When Daneliya won The Voice she started a youtube channel. The night before her audition for AGT she had 335,000 subscribers. A week and a half later she had broken through the 500,000 subscriber barrier right now as I write this, too long intro to Daneliya, she has 566,000 subscribers. So you see her potential for having a bigger audience is so very possible. Maybe a reaction from you would give her exposure to a wider audience. You also might receive a bump in subscribers as she an Angelina both have very loyal fans and if they know you will be reacting to Daneliya every so often they will jump on your train. I know I am shameless when it comes to Daneliya, or Angelina, or Morissette, or the TNT Boys. You already have done the other three, I think it only fair to do the same for Daneliya. O.K. I'm done. I hope you read this. I try to attach my request to the latest performer(s) you have reacted to. It gives me the best chance to have you read this. I figure if you just watch her video of "Stone Cold" just to get a feel for what she can do, then maybe her audition for AGT. Oh yeah she did, 'Tears Of Gold' by a Moroaccan born Canadian named Faouzia. She is a 19 yr.old singer/songwriter that Daneliya has put on the KZread map by singing her song. Alright!! Now I'm done.

Years old doing this now it’s natural. It’s hurting all interpretations of tongues so she just does what she feels but everything is orchestrated. She knows exactly what she’s gonna do. How do you wanna do and when she wanted she practice and that’s what she did but can’t tell it looks natural and it is natural.

Thank you for another fine analysis of Angelina's singing. I know of no other 10-year-old child who could have accomplished this level of performance with the maturity and emotion. The drop; to the lower register when singing "feeling food" at the beginning and end and the crescendo just before the end was mind "boggling" Although you did not show it in your reaction, you may have noticed the instantaneous change from "performance" mode to the humble child of ten, who humbly gave curtsey to acknowledge the applause of the audience.

Sweet reaction...Thanks. I hope that you enjoyed Angelina's arrangement of this song as much as I did. 2016 was a great year for Angelina's music, and she produced my favorite piece that year. The video was "LEAKED" by unknown party(s) later, November 2018. The writer, Brandon Lowry, (and 3 cowriters) asked Angelina to produce a demo in 2016: however, it was never released. The recording was put on KZread as a LEAKED video in November 2018 and Brandon Lowry released his video in December 2018. Angelina's roots lie in Jazz and Blues and that describes "I'm Still Holding Out For You".

"Effortless" is the word for Angelina's performing and vocal skills. She performed this song 3 times in 2016, and each one was very similar and her fans have their own personal favorite. This one was the last performance in 2016 just before she turned 11. You are so right about Angelina with respect to her adaptations of each cover. Even though in many cases, she keeps to the original music, her phrasing, her tone, and delivery are usually very different. I have heard that, like most or all great jazz artists, Angelina sings "behind the beat," which is something I usually notice, or think I notice, especially when she is singing jazz, even though I'm not musically inclined myself. Thank you once again for a great analysis of the magnificent young lady.

As I understand it much of her musicality and her love of jazz is influenced by her grandmother, who is an artist from Iran. That said she clearly has an innate talent. She has been doing her own arrangements since age nine, and very clearly has a strong sense if where she wants each piece to go.

Facinating to hear the reactor say; "It's been interesting to see how she's been developing throughout the years" (something like that) and if you didn't know, you'd assume it was a seasoned singer Marc was talking about. With ANGELina being 14 yrs today... In this video 10 yrs old... I guess that's the statement you'd get when the girl started her professional singing career when she was 7, and had already been singing since before she could talk. O_o Put things into perspective (and makes us other mortals wonder what we're doing with our lives ... :P)

Gloomy Sunday as her audition for Norway got Talent at age 7. Some words maybe on how in the world a girl can have this amount of style, charater and talent. She started singing at age 1,5, maybe instead of talking..

Because you do such an excellent job explaining the technical aspects of the voice, I am making what may be an unusual request. I would like for you to review Darcy Lynne Farmer singing “O Mio Babbino Caro”. I would like for you to explain how a self taught teenage singer/ventriloquist can sing a classical piece with her mouth closed!? Darcy Lynne is easily found on KZread. She was the Season 12 America”s Got Talent Champion but I believe her opera debut was in the America’s Got Talent Champions Finals which, unbelievably, she did not win. Thanks

I love Angelina keep doing these reactions to her. I am not sure if you did her studio (live) video of "I Put A Spell On You" cover of Screaming Jay Hawkins when she was 9, it is masterful. It is a black and white video.

You should react to Angelina Jordan born to die, not much stage present going on, but that voice and and the song it self, is simply beautiful in my opinion.

Here is an interesting back story LEADING up 2 this song. During the Rehearsal of this song, the orchestra was constantly getting the tempo off. Either too slow or too fast, Angelina, had to politely show them the right tempo. There is a video out there of this rehearsal & you can see how Fustrated she gets after each time she had 2 stop them.

Well since you asked.... I have a TON of requests, but my favorite of Angelina is Whitney Houstons "I have nothing", and I love it! But I'd be very open to a professional's take on it.

I too love Michael Buble’s version. It is so so good. To me, with all his songs and performances. him singing Feeling Good is my absolute favorite. I really can't explain it. but when Angelina sings anything I totally concentrate on her, and I don't know anyone else who can draw me and other listeners in to totally concentrate on just her. Another reviewer commented that God created her so he could listen. That is a really neat comment.

Slow and easy build it up, building a building it up he got a remarkable phone to her voice I’m not a Turner of boisterous. Do you normally expect that she got a mature boys and she knows how to use the voice to serve. The text is a real professional and makes you throw you in you want to see more do you want to hear more truly she’s a remarkable singer regardless of her age

Yes, dazzling performance. I hear she arranges all her stuff. If you did her cover of Queen's The Show Must Go On, you would see her do some belting--and give her usual very perceptive understanding of a song that arises in the shadow Freddie's impending death. Not something Queen could face straightforwardly. She obviously does more belting in Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing, but in truth I don't think belting is her strong suit, though she wows most people.
