Why IMF policies have failed Pakistan

Poverty is going up, growth is coming down. The cost of living is going up and unemployment is climbing. Pakistan is implementing IMF policies but conditions are getting worse. Why is this happening? Dr. Taimur Rahman explains in simple language.

George Foreman's "Land Value Tax" (LVT) is the answer to every problem on raising public revenue. Abolish Income Tax, GST, VAT, Octroi, everything. LVT be levied by local community at the grassroots. State at the top must depend on community (Panchayat, Wards) for funds. That's real Spiritualism : Not to encourage PRIVATE ownership of LAND and other natural resources. Since abolishing private ownership is herculian task, tax it. LVT is tax on ownership as such, not land development. This would be genuine sustainable public revenue management. Community must spend on public goods and services from LVT funds. State must be content with watching from a distance. Keep state at bay!

Thank you for explaining the economy in terms understandable to a common man. When industrial development is undertaken by the state, nation flourishes. However, when it is carried out by multinational corporations, a country moves towards debt and default.

No "political science" professor is as erudite, eloquent, articulate in "economics" at the same time as Dr.Taimur. Plus he is holistic, all round. Otherwise almost all political science professors see only "political" side as core and all economists see only "economic" aspect as the core of any given problem or issue. I mean they're diehard divisive, divided, separated --hence becoming estranged. The result is no meaningful solution though they pose as "Solution Provider" expert consultants & advisers. With Dr.Taimur it's different. Foreign university education (great rigor) and reading Karl Marx by heart --these two elements contributed to his brilliant understanding. I guess he didn't have interest in cricket or hockey, but ask him to lecture on any branch of philosophy or philosopher, his flair in acquired wisdom shows up his hard work in developing this trait as well. He can wrestle with Hegel & Hegelian dialectics too. 😂😂. Even Nassim Nicholas Taleb professedly keeps Hegal studies at bay! Jenab Taimur seems to have best understood Hegel. He's wise. He studied Marx's tutor Hegel first. Marx came naturally to him. Listen to each and every sentence uttered by him. A sort of "Uljhan" (contradictions) inbuilt in all phenomena of the world gets crystally clear highlighted to the reader which is a great job. Otherwise a normal professor would tell only goody goody things only. I enjoy his lectures and his personna. A kind of teacher whom we as students like and admire.

Another thing to decrease oil dependency is to invest in public transportation and alternatives to driving. I see this point gets overlooked. This also means updating our zoning to allow mix use neighborhoods to be build, so that people don't have to drive everywhere just to buy the basic things, they can easily walk to their destinations. Societies like DHA force people to drive to get anything. This can also help people ditch their cars which will further decrease burden on import.

37:30 --To be honest, in today's perspective, after 76 years, this territory termed Pakistan has to put this question : Did people of Pakistan wage a long freedom struggle against the British before 1947 to reap the fruit of 1947? Isn't Pakistan Mulq a free gift cake thrust upon (not offered to) the people of this region? In comparison to whatever happened in Indian region right from Tipu Sultan till 1940s and through Zafar-Pande-LaxmiBai of 1857 such issue has to be looked into.

We as a nation are going through hard tests so if you want to pass the tests to be free and a proud nation than help the people in need even though we risk losing everything by it and stand up against the injustice !!! Plz let’s wake-up and start behaving like real humans (socialized humans). A request to the Pakistanis abroad: Plz every time you sending money to your family and loved ones then send also some amount to the neighbors in need (surely they are some) … this act will increase your happiness, wealth and respect !! Pakustan must do what USA can't and doesn't do. That's the true spirit. It also makes dent on Pakistan's age old Feudalism in villages.

The constitution even though is 30% Islamic, but I don't see any Sharia law here. The majority of Pakistanis don't even take part in elections because they don't believe in the system that has been forced upon them. 45% of voters out of which 30% are clueless choose the leader for the majority. The biggest problem of Pakistan is its political system that protects the corrupt. Pakistan needs to return to Islam and apply Sharia law that's the only way forward. Democracy has failed Pakistan
