I agree, she absolutely is. I love that BvS characters think on their own without expository dialogue and Lois is the best example of that, she going back for the spear after just a look at Batman being haunted by Doomsday was gold!

I remember an audio where David Goyer (I think it was him) was explaining how when He, Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder first pitched the idea that Lois would figure out Clark's identity from the get go, the studio was very reluctant at first. But the three of them really had to fight for that concept until they agreed. Thank god! Cause this is really the first time I remember where you see Lois' investigative skills shine. You don't need convincing that she's a great journalist, Snyder proved that with her actions alone. (My own subjective opinion on this).

Publicenemy85 I loved the DCAU Superman series very much, and may I say that that universe's Lois's not discovering Superman's true identity was at least offset very well by her great abilities as a journalist in other fields, and the fact that her relationship with "just Superman" was very well-balanced and respectful and non-fangirly. It was a big deal when she invited Superman to dinner at the end of "Brave New Metropolis" (and it was borne out of renewed respect for his character by the events of that episode in the alternate dimension) and it was a big deal when she kissed him for the first time at the end of "Legacy: Part II".

Same here! Lois (and Martha in even more ways) reminds me of my mother, who lost her mother in 2000, her father in 2004, and her husband (my father) in 2006. She suffered a tremendous amount of loss in a short amount of time while also going through Breast Cancer. And she managed to survive it all (mostly, through her Christian faith) and continue to keep going. I've been very inspired by that. And with Lois, I see the same spirit. She recognizes that even when bad things happen, the best thing to do is keep going. Life goes on and so should we. Glad you are able to find inspiration in Lois Lane, too!

It's part of why I wanted to do this video series, Matthew! I don't know about other people, but since Man of Steel was released, I've felt isolated and sometimes, bullied into not speaking up about why I love the DCEU so much. I think I have valid reasons to love the franchise and the way it's portrayed and written characters I love. The movies have been entertaining and personally inspirational for me and I've found that when I speak up about them, others feel like they can, too. When that happens, I end up having lovely conversations. Opening up real dialogue has been hugely beneficial to me because I get to hear the stories of other people.

Agreed humans nowadays live for 100 years, but still our barrier for young age has only been raised from 25 in 1920 to upto 45 in 2020. She is now a middle aged woman. Not a young adult anywhere. Hard Boiled Entertainment At this point I'm beginning to think while watching BVS and MOS people were outright delusional. Lois is one of the most well used love interests in any franchise. Her relationship with Clark is complex and her devotion to Superman sometimes clashes with it creating a unique version of the triangle. She is able to not only uncover Clark's identity but also Lex's scheme which for the first time ever on the big screen captures her dynamic with Lex Luthor. There's also more focus on her need to uncover the truth. Zack Snyder got Lois right more than Donner ever did, so the complaint about her being given nothing to do is crap. Like I said I honestly think people were full on delusional while watching these movies because they're seeing flat out fantasies.

The crime of this film is that it wanted you to actually watch it and pay attention. There's so much going on it actually rewards repeat viewings. If you pay attention none of it is the 'mess' people habitually call it, things flow naturally from one story point to the next and characters aren't cardboard cutouts with funny quips, they're motivated and do things that make sense to them.

Optimisticpaint Ironically this applies to JL too which has a lot of depth and meaning that's being overlooked. Bruce's entire arc is a symbolic parallel to his arc in BVS each representing a different side of the debate regarding Superman, BVS being the fear and paranoia of his potential threat while JL is him being seen as a Christ figure whom Bruce places above himself and the world, both have Bruce go to very unethical lengths to achieve his goals showing how both faith and fear can lead to equally dangerous and self destructive paths if unbalanced, this plays into the trilogy's overall thematic conflict of faith vs fear. Steppenwolf is a soldier who is fanatically devoted to his cause of bringing about the unity to every world he visits which in his mind unites every world by making them all his own through Mother's power. He is fanatically loyal to Mother because she represents power the power to create and destroy and Steppenwolf believes power is the only truth of the universe. He then fails on Earth and is forced into exile failing Mother shaming him and casting him from his place among the gods. Now he seeks to finish what he started and redeem himself in his god's (Mother) eyes and prove he is worthy of his place among the gods aka God's domain. Steppenwolf is very realistic his mission is pretty much the Crusades on a galactic level. My apologies if that got long but I feel your comment relates to JL too and I wanted to show how much depth was hidden beneath the basic story that I feel is being overlooked.

I can see where you're coming from for sure. I wish we'd gotten to see Snyder's take on the final film in his trilogy, much of what you've pointed out was buried to appease a nervous studio. I think Whedon actually did a good job under the circumstances and direction he was given, but we got a Frankenmovie, pulled in so many directions. If I think about it now Jenkins might have been a much better choice to step in? In any case, for the part of the audience that includes you and me we missed out on a movie that would have shown more faith in the universe created so far, than something that ran backward to hide behind Christopher Reeve's cape.

Optimisticpaint We did a trademark of Snyder is using the visuals and characters actions to express the story, themes and emotions of the characters rather than exposition such as Diana not saying a word to express her anger over him mentioning Steve Trevor she just shoves him in rage, clearly conveying her anger without a word. The nightmare isn't referenced verbally instead the shot of Superman floating up to Batman mirrors when he approaches him in the nightmare, symbolizing that it's Bruce's own fear, paranoia and guilt that turns Superman evil. This is all pure Snyder especially the way the nightmare is used. Another trademark of Snyder is that he uses symbolic symmetry to represent his characters journeys. Diana's intro in JL mirrors her encounter with Ludendorf with her defeating his men only for him to ask what are you, Diana's answer says much you will soon find out and A believer. This shows that she isn't that naive girl who thought she alone would save the world. In both intros Batman is pursuing a criminal to find a lead on the case he is working and seeks to invoke fear. In JL it's to lure out a monster while in BVS Batman is the monster, in JL Batman shows the criminal mercy while in BVS he brutally punishes him. Snyder also has the story's ending book ending it's beginning. In the beginning Batman is tracking a criminal and uses him to lure out a parademon with his fear, in the ending Steppenwolf himself succumbs to fear being attacked by his parademons, the scenes are bookended with the same line, batman saying fear, bringing the theme of fear full circle. This is Snyder all the way. Another trademark of Snyder's DC trilogy is the above and below motif. In BVS Batman consistently beats Superman lower and lower weakening him more and more lowering him from his god status to a man, while as Bruce goes lower he becomes more brutal representing his fall to less than a man. In JL Superman floats up to Batman and takes him into the sky representing his status as a god, he is above Batman, when Lois arrives Clark begins to slowly lower representing him falling from the title of a god and returning to a man. If a character is or goes above or below says much about where they are in their story. Zack Snyder's style, his signature qualities are all over JL, it may be cut down but this is Snyder's movie all the way.

All good Trent! It's there but the process of dissection has left many of these elements unconnected to the overall arcs. I don't disagree Snyder is all over, but key elements were taken out, the connective tissue if you like, that would have brought these arcs to a proper conclusion and made everything tie together. I have a strong suspicion that if Snyder's cut had made it to theaters people might be complaining about that... though I'd like to think audiences might have had a light-bulb moment and some of the gentle humour we saw introduced by Snyder might have carried the day.

Amy adams is one of my favorite actresses. Its was great to see her in three of my favorite movies from last year (bvs, arrival, nocturnal animals). I fail to see how they gave adams nothing to do. She investigates superman and is the only person outside of his family to truly understand and relate to him. She helps superman just like how he helps her. Yeah he still has to save her but thats because she's still a regular human amongst god like aliens and monsters. She figures out lex's plan before any one else, even before batman. How could anyone think she is given nothing to do? The only thing that I kind of don't like is that I think their romance progresses a little too quick at the end of man of steel. And again she provides superman another connection to humanity

Lois has a well-written arc in the movie, even if it ends (for now, anyway) on a sad note. I can understand your point about "Man of Steel". I think the kiss is mostly just a "thank you for saving my life, we got caught up in the moment" thing. I don't know if they're ready to get married at that point, but I think they've bonded and formed feelings for each other so I get it. Plus, by the time they've kissed, they've been through a LOT of stuff. :)

Even after Clarks death, if she didn't write that article, (most likely also presented her evidence in front of a court), Lex would most likely have gone away with what he did. Justifying his "planitary security" plan, simply by stating he created doomsday for self protection against superman

The TV series Lois & Clark episode 'Tempus Fugitive' has the villain call out Teri Hatcher's Lois Lane for not realizing who Clark Kent really was. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c22hrKN9dNTMpdI.html Glad they finally went the other way for Man of Steel. In BvS, Lois goes on to beat the villain who bested Superman, proving Lex's guilt and landing him in prison. Between the times she saves Clark and with Wonder Woman saving Batman, the 2 main female characters in this movie were well written. There's a moment in the recent Justice League trailer where we see Batman returning the favor with his vehicle firing on enemies to assist Diana. Side note: That Flash scene blew me away. There was some ambiguity to it but given the drastic alteration in Bruce's behaviour from that point on, it's likely that he believed the warning to be real. Flash & the knightmare scenes provided one of the final motivations for Batman to fight Superman. They also offer another parallel with the Justice League trailer where we see Bruce dressed up in goggles and scarf overlooking the fishing village, like BvS's Batman wore over his costume when looking out at the Omega symbol in the knightmare. And Bruce meeting Barry in the comic con footage provides a mirror moment for Justice League: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kWmc0a-MndmXito.html

I actually did a video about Lois calling Teri's Lois out! kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppetlsOAj9C9mMY.html Which brings up a good point. During Lois' interaction with Tempus, she found out that Clark was Superman and was mind-wiped...until she was able to retain that information for good once Season 3 started. I LOVE how the women in the DCEU have been handled. They all feel so real, unique from one another, and well-rounded and they contribute to the stories. The Flash/Knightmare sequence is one of my favorite parts of the movie!

I really strongly dislike Batman v Superman, but this video was great. I appreciate your passion and rational opinions here. It's pretty refreshing to see a fan of this movie who's not calling anyone names or just posting stupid memes about how Marvel sucks. Personally, my issue is not that Louis Lane has nothing to do - she certainly has that - it's more that I just dislike her limited range of emotion. Much like many of the characters in this movie, she just seems to have the same melancholy sad expression throughout most of the film, without much range. But anyway, that's my opinion. I'd love to hear your response.

  • @duckmilkprod

I appreciate you watching even if you didn't like BvS. In terms of "range of emotion", I think her emotions fit the story and what she is going through. Batman v Superman is a story about how the world is struggling to figure out how to deal with Superman, Batman seeking revenge on him, and Lex trying to prove his stance on The Problem of Evil. Superman and Lois Lane have a lot on their plates. Lois knows that Clark wants to do good around the world and that nobody should fear him and it propels her to figure out what's really going on. I love that BvS took the story and what the characters were going through seriously. It's basically a movie in the 2nd act of a three-act play. Even Chris Terrio likened it to The Empire Strikes Back which is structured in the same way. And 2nd Acts are generally the lowest points in the story, awaiting the upward trend when the play gets into the 3rd act. P.S. You should probably know that "Louis Lane" is a totally different character: comicvine.gamespot.com/louis-lane/4005-110171/

I hated what feminism has become and people use wonder woman as a strong woman comic character. However, MOS and bvs showed that Lois Lane is the epitome of what is to be a strong woman and it's a shame that it was overlooked. She literally decipher everything in both movie without super powers or money. Never been a Lois Lane fan, but Snyder changed that for me!

  • @ramonasoants4899

Feminism has not done that. Wonder Woman IS a strong woman comic character, but so is Lois Lane. Lois Lane doesn't receive much attention because she doesn't have superpowers and also she was created to be that girl for superman...But in this version, Lois is more ahead.

@@duckmilkprod But look. The only reason why bruce wayne hates superman is because superman is uncontrollable. He did not listen to alfred and then dumps all his hate. That should have been a pause in the fight and not the stop. And I love amy adams. I think she is a great actress and beautiful. But her only purpose in the film seems to be a beautiful and young(at the time of the film making and release, cause now she's old)sexual object to superman.

The Centrist I think that is absolutely incorrect and I would disagree with you vehemently. Lois is a major part of why Superman does what he does at the end (Lois being his world) and her investigation is how Lex Luthor ends up in prison. I’m glad you like Amy Adams, though. She is a fantastic actress.
