Why I Document My Simple Life | Beauty In The Mundane - Slow Living in English Countryside

Hello friends,
I created a Ko-Fi membership page (similar to Patreon) where I will be posting monthly updates and behind the scenes of my videos. There are two different tiers, and you can select which one you like the most. If you like, you can support me there and get access to some extra monthly content.
☕️ ko-fi.com/dariamundi
_______
I've been on this journey documenting my life for a few years now. I posted many more videos on KZread than you can see - some of them have been deleted or made private, as they don't correspond to my current self anymore. But there are also many moments which were left blank. Many memories I lost, the past I don't quite remember. These were the pivotal moments in my life, the time when I've gone through many rejections - external, and internal from myself. There were a few times in my life when I drew the line between "then" and "now", and if I'm honest, they were all, to an extent, traumatic. But I wish I documented them too. Documented my feelings. Documented the in-between.
This video is about that. About documenting the in-between. The mundane. Not the work, the times you spend doing something "significant", but the little, insignificant moments of life. The moments you find and create for yourself. They are the important building blocks of your personality. And perhaps, they are even more important, than who you are when you're doing the "important" bits.

✨Who are you when you’re not working? When you’re not doing something so important? When you’re not achieving the big results? When you’re living your regular life? We place so much importance on the highlights, but it’s the little things that we find or create for ourselves, that are the building blocks of our life. Documenting them is important, as they allow you to see past your "professional" self and into your real self. Every time I post something personal, I get slightly anxious. I feel like people often misinterpret words like that - whenever I talk about doing nothing, or moving away, some take it so drastically as to say that “oh it must be nice to do nothing, not work, and not want anything in life”. It’s not that simple haha. Quite opposite - these days I do nothing but work, that’s why I seek beautiful moments outside of my regular routine. I just wanted to put it into perspective for you. Life is not all about work and hustle to achieve “success” (whatever that word means), but about the balance outside of it. The balance between what we HAVE to do, and what we FEEL like being.

I don't know about you, but I feel pretty confident about knowing who I am. Curious, caring, changing. Perhaps too much at times. Seeing what is there and what could be there. Trying to brigde the gap when the difference is good and stop things when it's not. Bright, but too used to envy to show it to everyone. I do have people now, I can show that side without fearing bad consequences. And I treasure them like nothing else before despite seeing so little of them. Because to me, such a find is rare. I am that person, whether I'm working or not. It's just my impression, but I think you are a person who dreams big and a lot. Dreams that are not about the "doing" but about "having done that". I wonder, when you look at nature, do you see what is there? Or do your dreams overlap and you can see spring even during winter? You remind me of that show "Anne of Green Gables". Particular the intro of the anime, when Anne dances with fairies. I like to document the big achievements, but also those small moments. Like becoming somebody's valentine online out of sheer boredom. Seeing a kata, that is clearly not for me and joining in anyway. When was the last time you smiled? I think those are times to document. That way, we can look back and smile over little and big things. It's just an idea, but perhaps you find it useful.

And you have the right to build this peaceful life for all your selves!❤ past, present and future. We often forget how much mama earth already gave us, and you try to honor. Your feminine in this masculine world everyday. You look for the song of the birds, the bloosom of the trees and flowers. You love and appreciate life-time-reality much more than many that are just bussy in what others say success is for them. Your success is being you in this world with no more guilt and preassure. Much love and light❤

@@eloisewildheart You're too kind. I don't think curiousity or changing/learning is reduced to either feminine or masculine. It is just human. Nothing more. Nothing less. Admittedly caring can be more obvious with women than with men, but that is mainly as far as I can tell due to men being raised to not show their feelings. I do know men who cared much deeper for others than some women did for their own children. But it's a more wide-range caring. Not shown with hugs and kisses, but more with teaching and providing (not just food and shelter, but opportunities and a future) I wonder, what is your opinion about yourself? What do YOU define as success? You seem to tell me so much about who I am and what my success is, yet are silent about yourself. I wonder, why. Much love and may you bloom like the flowers and trees, that you mentioned.

I had this realization recently when I was walking alone in the woods after a heavy snow. I realized how happy I felt doing something simple and peaceful. I think big things are important but they only happen occasionally. Happiness isn’t a result of a short occasion, it’s your everyday day. It’s your morning breakfast, your drive to work, your surroundings, it’s the the afternoon walk or making yourself a dessert before reading a book at your home. It’s the small things but they are important too. Maybe more important.

Well, I turned 40 last month and till now one of the greatest lessons I've learned in life is: what society managed to make me believe are the big things are actually the little ones and the more I get able to focus on the "small" things, the happier I become. I hope you find your answers and keep inspiring me in finding mine. May all beings be happy. :)

Not boring.. peaceful. I always wanted to leave home, now at age 53.. there's nothing better to me than staying home... I think Jane Austen said something about there is no greater comfort than home or something like that... And yes.. more often than not, I find myself now being the oldest person in the room.. 🥴.. but, I tell myself, aging is a gift . Love, love, love your beautiful content. Thank you for seeking out the beauty in the mundane and sharing it with the world. Watching from Arizona. 🌵

As John Lennon said - "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." this video rings very true to that in my mind. "Important" and significant parts of our lives absolutely do matter, but so do those boring, mundane or insignificant ones. Being always present with your mind and soul in the moment is not easy, but it is important to do that as much as possible. We are alive every second we are, so we should live this time as alive and present as we possibly can. Beautiful video! Really makes one think and reflect. Well done ❤

As long as we are stuck between the past and the future, we cannot understand the importance of the present. Knowing how to live in the moment means being happy with the little things. Of course, we will have boring periods, sometimes we may not even want to do anything, we need to enjoy even these moments. That's how life is beautiful

Oh wow! At first I balked at your assessment that your life is boring. But as I listened, stayed present and really listened, I realized the joy you felt in saying it. In my country, in general, it is considered a sin to not go out and achieve, succeed, work and work hard. Maybe ‘sin’ is too harsh a word but it always felt like it in my 20’s till I retired. And now I am realizing I lived on autopilot all the time, no memories of joy or even a feeling of success. Though I was successful it was an empty feeling. But no worries, I have begun to live again, present and in a very ‘boring’ life indeed! 🥰 slow living, being present moment to moment is wonderful. I keep an art journal - sketching my world , my day, my projects and my feelings. These are the days I will remember. Thank you for your vlogs. I really love them. Cheers

very true. This morning, I happened to open my curtains, for no special reason ; there was this spectacular rainbow, with a circling flock of sea gulls in the foreground. If you are appreciating the small stuff, good for you ! because it means your not letting your racing thoughts, induced by the pace of modern life, take over, and you have the space and conscienceness there to witness theses moments.

People are all so different. Some are go getters always having to stay busy and accomplice something every waking moment. There are varying degrees of this 'A' type person, until you get to the do nothingers. I fall into somewhere towards the latter extreme, now that I'm old, tired and retired. Stay busy while you can and stay relaxed when you can't.

It is scientifically proved that the more you need a camera to record your events, the more you forget. We Human beings are an extremelly lazy species,so we always end up chosing shortcuts and walking sticks. The reason why our forefathers had an EXCELLENT memory is because they didn't have any cameras. They had no choice than remembering everything, because that often meant survival. For instance, they had to see the difference between a hemlock and a Wild carrot. Not knowing this would mean death to them. They even remembered entire conversations. You're doing the wrong thing. if you want to exercise your brain, shut down the smartphone and use your very own eyes. Of course, I love your vídeos, but they shouldn't serve as a document. They should be YOUR life experience, not my 8 minutes of enjoyment and escapism.
