In this video we are building the very popular 5.0 Ford roller motor. They made the Windsor V8 engine from 1961 to 2001 in cubic inches ranging from 221 to 351 but most of them being 302. We plan to double the horsepower of this one with upgraded heads, cam , intake, headers, along with lots of other go fast parts. Let's get this thing ready to go in our 63 Fairmont Sprint clone.

    @@darrenswails I looked into them, from what I can tell, you pay them your debt Ex 10K, and they ask you to default on your credit cards/lender, then they negotiate(buy) your debt at a reduced amount. You still pay them the 10K while they buy your debt at example 5K. Your credit takes shit for the next 7 to 10 years. The upside is that you won't pay all that interest which could be 80K if you continued to make minimum payments. I got as equity loan instead.

I twisted the factory oil pump shaft, which lead to a disaster. An expensive lesson for me to upgrade that part in the future. Great video, guys.

    Josh you should have used the weak springs to set your push rod length, to check for proper valve/rocker geometry and for the valve to piston clearance. Remember your lifters have no oil pressure and will collapse under stock spring pressure.

They'd probably be way better if you threw them on a bbq and got some grill marks on them, make em look like you're eating real food lol.

    Torquing bolts in sequence is EXTREMELY important! If you don't, you can cause them to twist and/or warp. This will cause bad compression and can cause coolant to go into and out of the cylinders. ALWAYS follow the tightening sequence!!!!

    It is amazing how quickly the channel has grown since the old place, quitting your job full time and going full time. Summit racing is a great place , The one in Ohio is the oldest Flagship store, and I was buying stuff from them for decades also since the the late 80's. I finally got a 88 Mercury Cougar XR7 with the 5.0L engine and it only has 50k on the clock. No rust anywhere and I got it from a 90 year old man who kept it in a climate controlled garage since 1995. They put a entire new stock fuel system on it tank, lines, pump, sending unit, filters, everything. Wouldn't run for more than 15-30 seconds, they put a PCM , 8 new/used injectors cleaned the EGR. Same thing my Ford guy at work told him, they were going to scrap the car after they told him what it needed to be fixed. I was fortunate enough to get the car for south of a thousand dollars and I replaced the fuel injectors with 8 new ones for a 89 mustang 5.0L and it fired right up. Needs a upper intake gasket and the lines finished underneath due to a small vacuum leak and I will have a great little runner. I'm going to build a engine for it and I will be using some information and tips from your channel Josh ! I hope you have had a great 4th of July weekend and I will be watching to see how this motor turns out. Thanks for sharing as always and have a great day today.

    You may have heard this before, but 1 quart of engine oil swapped for a quart of atf and left until the next scheduled oil change will not hurt the engine and will clean the "gunk" better than you might think. That's not "something my buddy told me", but 37 years experience working on cars and truck fleets.When you get an old engine going, the first oil change should include one quart of ATF. I have torqued some detroit diesel head bolts to 300 ft pounds, but never gone over 125 for a 302 ford, and that was a special build for circle track racing.

  • @kdog622
    @kdog6224 күн бұрын

    I ALWAYS fit the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft before tightening the timing cover bolts to ensure the shaft seal is exactly centered, or you risk a shortened seal life. Then you can remove, or finish torquing the balancer on. I'm enjoying your build.

    That’s good info on that summit cam. I’m a big fan of the F303, but in the last few years they cost as much as I’ve spent for custom grind solid rollers. Definitely gonna check out the Summit one!

    I spent many years at Cummins building 10, 11, 12 and 15 liter engines putting heads on them. Torque was between 430 and 480 Ft pounds for the bolts depending on which engine size.

    Just trying to help. MLS gaskets need extremely clean machined surfaces to seal. not a good idea on an old unmachined block, that's what composite head gaskets are for. Don't jack on machined surfaces with crowbars, screwdrivers etc., you'll wreck the mating surfaces and cause leaks. Don't use stainless fasteners on engines! They're not strong enough and they cold weld and strip threads unless you use anti seize. Use steal reinforced silicone gaskets on the ends of the inlet manifold not huge beads of RTV. I have never had an intake leak doing this. Don't use RTV or any form of coating on gaskets. They come impregnated with boding agents so they glue themselves after a few heat cycles. you ruin that if you coat them with anything. I've been building engines for forty years including aircraft engines and my engines don't leak or fail, ever.

    funny way to say that Ralphie is making flat pieces of steel that have a angle on one side and taper to a very acute angle at the top🤣 must say that is an amazing hobby and can make him big money

    I found I could harden an edge by just welding, and quenching. Was always surprised how well it would hold an edge. Also used tig rod meant for welding cast steel. Shame the utubes are such panty waste sissy's obsessed with "safety".
