Young man again you amazed me with your even tempered parenting and your master knowledge of automotive technology. You could easily teach at a college or vocational school. Puppy Ellie was watching to make sure you were safe . What great dad and husband you are. You compliment your family when they pitch in and aren’t dismissive when they make a mistake. When that Malibu with all the new parts came to life, the smiles back-and-forth between Josh and Ralphie were so heartwarming. This father-son bond is amazing. Ralphie is so proud of his pop that it’s just oozing out of his pores. And Wawa is right there with him. And a special hug for squeezy who isn’t into all the mechanical stuff but she makes the video special with her quirky sense of humor and her great one liners. My favorite from this video was from Squeeze… “how dare you underestimate the power of tape!” Another piece of Sleeperdude gold. I can’t get enough of your videos Josh and Tosh. Please keep it up because you all stand out from the crowd when it comes to YT car/will it run videos.

If you're worried about heat you could raise the hood the back of the hood and allow the engine bay heat to exit by spacing the back hood hinges

The kitten is lovable and cute. That was great to see Dad babysitting the kitten-that kitten was very lucky to appear in your yard. You' all are very compassionate and caring of all types of animals, thank you very much for your kindness. At time stamp 1 hour 27 minutes -- the expression on Vienna the pigs face is so darn funny - if you watch at slow speed it's even funnier!!!

The smile on Josh's face when listening to that engine lope said it all! Now I want me a big radical cam!

The Malibu sounds awesome counting those lobes off at idle. Love that sound ❤. If you do decide to drag race it the transmission and differential should handle it for awhile. You might want a 2500 stall converter for the bigger camshaft. I enjoyed watching this sbc build. Thank you for sharing this with us. Looking forward to seeing Y’all in Flo-Rida.

I had a 81 Malibu Coup. First "nice" car I owned. It had a 305 V8 & was pretty tame. When it hit about 70k miles I pulled the motor & put lots of go fast parts on it.. My dad was Mr Practical & thought I was insane to tear a perfectly good engine down . But when you're 19 yrs old sometimes the old folks are just plain wrong.. I put headers & cherry bombs on er' so she let my folks know I was home at 2 a.m. Honestly it was one of my favorites & I've had a few Firebirds, camaro's & mustangs.. I has a 71 Monte Carlo that I bought off an older couple at church that was really nice.. But I put shackles on it , rounded it off with some Cragers & nice "casings" as you call em... That car was def in my top 5 fav's. Good video.. That kitten looks like an Ethiopean with that fat belly..cute !

wow she sounds like a beast, this was a fun to watch build. a everyday engine turned into a nitrous burning monster. so happy to watch

This video was like a #1 box office feature length movie! It was the #1 program on my TV tonight. Thanks a lot Team Sleeperdude! The Malibu sounds great. It will do great at the Florida event. The trip down will be so comfortable and you will arrive less stressed in a reliable and comfortable vehicle pulling the Malibu on a well sorted and capable trailer.

So Thankful to have the Time to Watch Something that might put a Smile on my Face and an Hour from the Day to Myself. Just Good to See Y’all

I always thought you rotated the head rather than the stem. I have a wooden tool with a rubber sucker for valve lapping. I've never done a V8 though.

82 year old retired diesel mechanic here.PULL that engine out and vat the block.We love this show.I had a truck shop and wife and all 3 kids worked in the shop.Keep doing what you are doing.

My cousin had an old Malibu kinda frankensteined together from a Pontiac, Malibu and a Buick and we called it the pontibu. Had a 350 golden rocket in it. So one summer day we were swapping head gaskets out in the barn and I scrubbed the head over the battery and sparked hole in the head so we ended up gettin her shaved and that started the build up of the old girl. a couple thousand and two years later the grey ghost was borne and I am sure that old car had wings. Prolly should be a greesy spot right now but man we had fun. Thanks for the upload. Had fun watching it.

This is beautiful both ralphie and josh will look back at these videos like this one day years from now and will prolly both have huge smiles. It’s beautiful what they have built doing this ralphie is learning so much he’s gonna be a good tech one day and best part is he will have footage of his father and their projects.

I think I would stick with a vortec style cast iron head for a burnout car, less chance of wrecking it by overheating

Ralphie and Wah-wah are the engine break-in gauge monitors---classic! Very smart Dad and Mom! It's the the drivetrain and chassis that's important--not the body design. That appears to be a very strong engine built on a strict budget. Make sure your nitrous system is working correctly AND the fuel system, don't let it starve for fuel when on the nitrous. Good Luck at the event!!

There's nothing like being there. The sound just shakes your guts. I remember the first time I drove a 71 Torino with open headers.

I remember driving a 68 440 Charger R/T with exhaust headers rusted out at the point where the 4 into one meets the part that bolts to the collectors. Accidental open headers. I guess you could call them "Michigan open headers." I approached a hill and there was a young couple sitting on it. They got up , got excited, the waved at me like I'd just completed a race, they were so excited.

Watching all the work you did in this video, and knowing what happened at the Freedom Factory burnout, I think you should have completely pulled this engine out and put in new forged rods and pistons and new bearings on the crank, along with a new oil pump, but that's 20/20 hindsight.

That episode of engine masters, called header bash! is insanely fun to watch. When 6 of 8 tubes were almost crushed flat it finally lost something....but yeah, they just went wild on that thing

Enginemasters is a joke . I did that same thing with a set of used headers every dent put in was a loss of horsepower .one tube almost totally smashed lost 15 horsepower . The more I smashed tubes the more horsepower loss . I continued smashing tubes like them and by the time I was done i was making less horsepower then factory 267 cubic inch engine .

Three generations working on the car. Ralphie learns sooo much from you all. I love that kitty that you all rescued.

Hand signals are always good when you can't hear over the sound of the engine. Well that engine will sure wake up the chickens on the farm for sure and the neighbors. Always good to see a project completed and an engine going well after all of your hard work. Thanks for the video.

IMPRESSIVE. Looks like a lot of family fun. Glad your father was able to participate too.

I used some plastic coated electric wire loop down put cam through to the end through the loop and hold the back end of the cam up, as I put the last bearing in, then removed the wire, doing a great job, all the best to yous and your loved ones

Loved seeing the kids really involved in this upgrade. Even Squeezy was having fun! Love you all. Have fun in Florida!

Always watch the videos. It's good to see a family work together and get along. Love that cam! I remember doing a cam swap. Good times. I noticed after you broke in the cam you looked and said you might have a leak. That balancer was pretty grooved. You used to be able to get a sleeve that you could tap on the balancer that would give the timing cover seal a new surface to ride on. Alot cheaper than a new balancer. Anyway, good luck in Bradenton.

Yeah!! Good on ya for installing that gear drive. I used them in every hotrod I had. We seldom hear them now a days but my generation (I'm 75) a gear drive was the OWTG. There's NO MISTAKING the unique sound (they only 'kinda' sound like a SC) PLUS there's NO stretched timing chain with a gear drive.

Great update/rebuild. Sounds great a bit like when my late father had the 318 dodge up graded to a large 321 complete with newer larger cam shaft to handle the extra weight that the truck had to hall during wheat harvest back in the late eighties

Wish I knew how to do what you do but this channel helps me to understand a little more!! As I've said before the look on WaWa's face is definitely priceless you can tell she's a gearhead like her dad and enjoys the ride like her mom.

You will be about 1 hour from us here on Florida. We don't think we can walk around much and we have dog but we wish we could. GOOD LUCK ON FIRST PLACE with that great sounding RACE CAR.

I always enjoy watching the channel, and how great these updates are a family affair. You are one lucky man to have a family that enjoys your love for cars as much as you do Josh. Tosh is a go getter and keeps you all straight. The reason they have you break the new parts in, before switching to synthetic oil, is you will break it in for proper wear, has the synthetic would not wear it in properly. They found that out back in the 90’s in NASCAR. If you used synthetic oil, trying to break in the rear end gears, the ring and pinion would not wear in properly. They would run the car for a few laps with regular oil, then change it over to synthetic. Thanks for the enjoyment, and God Bless You.
