Why Craig Berube Got Fired EXPLAINED in Under 2 Minutes

Спорт

The St. Louis Blues relieved Craig Berube of his duties late on Tuesday night, but was it the Stanley Cup winning coach's fault for the team's woes?
No, absolutely not. But why did St. Louis decide to make this drastic change.

Blues fan here. I’d definitely agree there is more blame to be put on Armstrong than Berube. As a matter of fact, I put little to no blame on Berube. This could also be a mercy firing preparing for a full blown rebuild on the other hand. Time will tell, but one thing is for sure, Armstrong definitely has some bad contracts that have come back to haunt him.

Agree, feels a bit like a GM hoping that a firing will ignite the team and save his own job. Of course last time y'all fired a coach into the season when you were really struggling that worked out pretty well

Armstrong just keeps on firing coaches the second they become bad. It is his fault that the team is generating no offense because he doesn't know how to bring in solid players from free agency, and he doesn't spend money on the ones he could resign.

I’m an islanders fan but really like the blues and was going crazy when they were on the road to the cup. Berube came in took a team nose diving and out of playoffs to winning it all and he got fired a few seasons later. They need to take a long look at the GM. We’re having the same problem over here regarding a shitty gm.

This isnt the type of team Berube could do much with for his style. Love him a lot for getting us our cup but in all honesty it was time for a change after his losing streak of who we lost to. He always wants his teams to play heavy and the team that won the cup could do that. He needs to coach a team thats close and pull them over the line.

If we would stop getting rid of our best players we could be contenders again

Kyrou had one hell of a transition speech on losing coach Berube, or rather, "Not my coach". And with the Vrana situation coming to an abrupt dropoff, I bet he didn't have anything better to put out there. Berube didn't have control of his players entirely, clearly, but a couple of realignments needed to happen on this ship early on when things were going south. I didn't realize that Kyrou put up the 2nd worst +/- in the league despite getting 73 points last year, and everyone in the bottom 20 was on a team that was a Bedard-chaser, pretty much. It feels pretty clear that some players only played when they felt like it, which describes the trajectory of this team almost too perfectly - All guns firing when against a Cup contender, then completely absent against bottom-dwellers they don't care to give their resumes.

Not many realize how bad Kyrou actually is. They see 37G and 36A last year. Out of those points 23 were Power Play Points (11 PPG + 12 PPA = 23 PPP). 37G + 36A = 73 points (not bad) +/- was -38, 2nd worst in the league. 73 points - 23 PPP = 50 points he accumulated while NOT on a power play. Since he is a -38 +/-, the opponents scored against his line 88 times while he only got 50 points in return. His trajectory is the same this year for defense and about 40 points total of offense. He is literally a losing player, no matter how flashy his goals are. And he's signed for 7 more years at $8M/year. Nice job Army!!

Fire Armstrong and Chiarelli and rehire Berube! All the blame is on Armstrong and he's just trying to save his worthless neck. Parayko, Krug, and Kyrou just to name a few garbage contracts.

Blues fan here. I watch all the games. Berube has been my favoite StL sports team coach since Whitey Herzog (baseball). 🫡 There is more to a team than just talent. You have to have an internal drive to win. Many on the team dont have that. Thomas is all about pass pass pass to the point that he gets left wide open in the crease only to pass it again. Kyrou is all about the 30 second KZread video of him scoring. Parayko looks like a cow out in a pasture eating grass while camped in front of the net. Krug, Scandella, Leddy, and Perunovich neither provide offense nor defense. There is absolutely no forecheck on this team. The Power Play is the worst in the league. Over half of the players dont play hard. In a way, im glad Chief is gone. He didnt deserve this trash team. Resign Army!!

Dude, if you're going to make a video acting like you have a clue about a team and it's players you ought to do some actual research. For you to say Thomas has under-performed this year while he is leading the team in goals and points just shows you have no actual clue. But, heh, why bother doing any research or anything? Why not just regurgitate what all the other clueless 'experts' out there say, just hoping get some views, eh?
