The AUG is one of the best service rifles ever made. The modernization made to the platform was lackluster, and the models sold directly by the manufacturer were limited. With the right aftermarket, it's perfectly capable, even with advanced NV/Thermal setups, standing on similar ground to an AR. Also, the trigger can be adjusted, people have performed great in competition with stock AUG trigger, therefore it isn't a big issue in a practical way.

Australia tested against the AR 15 and they ended up going with the Aug it beat the AR 15 in just about every category including reliability and durability. We as Americans tend to look down our noses at other platforms but Bullpups have a lot of advantages over the AR especially when it comes to performance in adverse conditions. Don’t get me wrong AR15s have advantages like modularity and unrivaled after market support, but Bullpups are not just novelty guns, they are viable fighting rifles.

You have one of the most durable rifles and magazines in your hand. the plastic is durable as hell and is a proven combat weapon. its perfect for duty and safe queen service. if you want to spend $2000 on a safe queen ar thats an individual perogative, bu thtis gun was meant to be run hard as it was designed for battle and to serve as a rifle or lmg with a 5 second barrel swap. If you need to hang stuff off your rifle because guys on the internet tell you to, then get an ar. There is a ton of 3rd party groups building or starting to build for this gun to modernize it to be more ar like. it has spare parts available, its easy to service and maintain, and all the parts are long lasting and durable.

I'm waiting for the M2 with the handguard to become available. Look into the Ratworx 20/20 sear, Arid trigger/safety combo, Corvus Defensio brass deflector if you want to shoot from unorthodox positions, Underworld Arms M-LOK handguard for C-clamping, and an upgraded mag release from either Corvus Defensio or Arid. Gearhead Works also offers aftermarket parts. The barrel change allows you to switch calibers and barrel lengths 14.5" - 20" or even 24". You could also switch from 5.56 to 300 BLK in about 10 seconds including themag change.

Look ... trust me ! This "ugly" plastic will last way longer than every aloy and absorbs better impacts and shocks. The Heart Parts on an AUG lasts up to double longer than any AR - Battlefield Vegas test it . The Trigger is not the best ok ! But you dont understand the Idea behind the AUG ! Is an Rifle for an 0815 Soldier . Nobody needs a hair needle Trigger in a War . It all builds for End of World . This thing has an standardized Optic when it comes out in an time where you Guys aims over a fu.... Carrierhandle😂. Also the ejectable Barrel on the fly ! The Trigger can also on the fly go from semi to full auto without any Selector. I am not a fanboy because i personaly run an Mk18 but look at 9 Holes Vid on KZread . This man understands and learn for what purpose this Thing is Made and for that - its on of the best Rifles . Anyway - best Greetings from 🇦🇹

After seeing Ukrainian soldiers firing their AKs sideways from trenches because of the way the magazine is designed to increase the head and upper body exposure, the bull pup design is clearly a superior weapon as it means a lower exposed profile for the shooter.

The biggest problem with the AUG is the price. Everything else is either very good or upgradeable. The waffle mags are legendarily tough, despite how they might feel. Reliability is outstanding, and it can probably be used in more situations than a conventional rifle (you can operate it with mittens ffs). It can be broken down into its 3 main components and carried in a backpack - disassembly and reassembly takes mere seconds. It is sort of a hamburger in a room full of AR15 McNugget kids though. Some of us just like the burger, man.

For the Meprolight M21: You can buy either an adjustable polarizer or a little light that shines on the fiber optics to make the reticle easier to see when looking from a dim area to a brighter area.

@msquared9605 yeah basically that. I guess it mechanically is like that but functions more like holding glow in the dark toys near a bright light so they glow better. The more light the fiber optic absorbs the brighter it is. I got the polarizer so I wouldn't have to deal with batteries and I love it.

Probably one of the best rifles except AR-15's. Also, the reason it costs as much, its because its Austrian and you are from US. Here in Europe, it costs the same as BCM and witg the reliability and longevity of the rifle, it's a fair price. Btw, dont take your rifle out of your shoulder while reloading. You have a short, well balanced rifle, so dont apply the AR training scars to it. In a stock configuration, it does suffer from the past, but with just a bit of past, you not only get a longer rail, but better controls, trigger etc. My AR definitely shoots softer than AUG, but I much prefer running and maneuvering with the AUG. Crazy how balanced and ergonomic this gun is

For civilians, all AR-15 carbines are useless, even with a 12.5-inch barrel, such a carbine is too long a spear. Only bullpup rifles (AUG) or folding stock (AKMS, Zastava AB2...) Why do I say so? It's simple, with such a spear you will be killed by your or an enemy drone operator during an armed conflict before you reach the forest wall. You can easily put a bullpup weapon or possibly a folding stock into an average backpack, giving yourself a chance if you are detected by drones. If you move around with a gun in your hand, every drone operator will treat you as a threat regardless of your intentions.

@@gansior4744 yes the only thing that makes AR superior is absolute modularity and easy to make hyper accurate and light triggers. But as a carry all day general purpose rifle that’s compact dead reliable and just genuinely all around useful the AUG is absolutely fantastic. To be honest I can see why Some army’s choose to field it over the AR as a general issue rifle. Long story short I am not mad at all if I had to fight and defend my family or my country with the AUG. In fact I’d be plenty happy with it.
