I wanted this video to be a more in depth look at some of the mechanisms and operation of the Steyr AUG, as well as a good guide to upgrades available to improve the comfort, usability, and capability of the weapon.
‪@TnSteyr‬ Has lots of great videos on the platform.
‪@AKQUALITYENFORCEMENT‬ has some good videos as well.
There are more trigger options out there that I didn't mention here from Arid, KaWaTec, and Trigger Tamer - If you have experience with them please share in the comments.

Personally I think the Aug really shines when it has the 20inch barrel. Getting the full intend power of 5.56 with out the rifle being a bean poll is just awesome.

Totally agree! That is the biggest advantage of the platform. A 20" barrel in this wouldn't be much longer than a short-barreled AR-15.

I’ve added the Corvus Defensio shell deflector is the bomb and the Ratworx metal sear improves the trigger greatly. I ran across a deal on a suppressed gas plug and spare stock. I run a Steiner M332 on my A3 NATO AUG. Love this rifle. I can wait to get the .300 BO suppressed barrel when it comes out. I run a Surefire Vampire V1 IR and white light single cell light where you mount yours. Enjoyed your video.

Sounds like a slick setup! The 300blk version will be really cool! With the ratworx sear, some dry graphite, and the spring upgrade I was really pleased how nice the trigger came out - exceeded my expectations. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@ 13:10 The stock trigger isn't nice but one thing to remember is that the whole rifle was designed to be operated with heavy winter gloves. One thing I'd want on an Aug is an A3-CQC kit, that thing looks super tidy.

Agreed on the trigger. Its also more of a battle rifle, not a precision instrument. Also the original trigger was two stage, first stage was semi, then pull it back more for auto, I am sure they wanted it heavy with a distinct stage between the firing modes. The A3-CQC kit does look sick!

Fantastic presentation👍👍 now add a Steyr L9-A2 MF 9mm pistol to your carry gear. On sale now at BERELI in Fla.. That's how I landed here because of my Steyr pistol research. Great job describing your process. The Australian video is great. Every AUG owner should watch and adhere to the instruction. Shoot safe✌️. 72 male, New Hampshire 🇺🇲

v1 is always out of stock, steyr usa sells a suppressor gas plug, they seem to be in stock the few times ive checked, for 109 bones

  • @dltz

Yeah I was on the V1 waitlist for a good month or two before I got the notification it was in stock. Still about $100. And for the reasons I lay out in the video I'm a big salty about the price and functionality of it. They had an opportunity to really tune the inlet port size for suppressor use (instead of just venting more gas off - which will make it was louder). Also not including the position 2 (adverse) even though they had the room for it also sucks. I just looked at the one available on the Steyr USA site. It looks the same. Same port sizes and locations. This one was not listed on the Steyr site when I was looking for it. Only the one on the V1 site was available.

@@strelokblackburn4651 Oh interesting. Not impressed with the V1 gas plug. No adverse position even though it has space for it kinda sucks. Its nice that the Steyr one does. Also I don't know why but i thought the V1 plug was a factory steyr part... maybe its not.

Well I'll have to try it when I go shooting next time. But the forst 2 settings the holes line up, and the in gr setting, looks like it the hole lines up to the vent hole on the normal setting.

When people bitch about the trigger I remind them that these things are meant to go to war. They’re not $4,000 safe queens that just come out to compete in three gun competitions.

I was suprised that the factory trigger didnt seem as bad to me as everyone makes it out to be. It was just heavy. Not bad, totally usable and reliable. I will admit that to me (probably my lack of skill) that it was hard to not disrupt the sights while breaking the shot when shooting from a bench. I suppose the "worst" rifle trigger people in the states are most used to is a milspec AR trigger. However I'm a trigger snob and like to tinker so I couldn't leave it alone.
