Math is hard for some. Even with the "slow" start Curry has averaged 239 3s a season over his career. Trae Youngs highest season in total 3s is 233. Steph made 285 this year in a year where he missed 20 games. Stephs 3 point record is about to be so far out of reach its going to be kinda ridiculous. The person that will break Stephs record is not currently in the nba.

These guys always talking out their ass. stephs first 4 years he. made 640 3's, Trae made 730. one of those years curry was hurt from the the other 3 seasons Steph made more 3's 2/3. Trae has 90 more made shots at this point but curry in his 5th-9th season makes 260 3pt minimum one of those seasons making 400 and another season making 300. Trae young is not pacing to beat curry at all if he only hits 200 3s next season he will only have 30 3pt lead on curry. By the time trae gets to his 7th season he will no longer be beating curry unless he has multiple 300 3 point seasons.

Steph was helped by coming into the league at a time where he could still get benched for pulling a 30 footer or transition three lol he had to make damn near 100% of those shots in his first couple seasons. Ironically, these younger guys are probably hurt by Steph’s influence on the game. Sure, they’re allowed to shoot 10+ threes a game, but they’re not really held to the same efficiency standards

The entire conversation about the shot pocket is fascinating. This is a perfect example of why the NBA is constantly getting better and how the evolution of basketball is incomparable with players in past decades. No hate to past players though, I still love watching 80’s, 90’s and 00’s basketball. The sport wouldn’t be what it was without all the past players constantly working to improve their own game. But human beings these days are just in a whole other level and we should celebrate that while also giving all due respect to the pioneers beforehand.

What happens when guys are launching an average of 20+ 3s per game in let’s say 2029? For example if Steph shoots 10/15 from 3 and in the future a guy shoots 10/23 from 3, that’s still going to be 10 3FGM (regardless of efficiency/FG%). Teams are relying on the 3 ball more and more. This is not about “player x being better than Steph”, its moreso based on volume of 3FGA increasing year after year. Not sure why you’re taking my comment as discrediting Steph.

According to Basketball reference for makes per 3 point attempts; T. Young - averages 2.6 out of 7.3 attempts for 4 yrs; D. Mitchell averages 2.8 out of 7.7 in 5 seasons, Steph Curry 3.8 out of 8.8 in 13 seasons. In their 1st years in the league Trae was 1.9/6.0; Mitchell was 2.4/7.0 and Steph was 2.1/4.8 and then went to to average over 40% for ten straight seasons with many attempts. It would be interesting to see how the numbers of Mitchell and Young will play out in the years to come since Curry's is set. But short of a massive improvement in their numbers and just sheer volume of games played going forward, I don't foresee them passing Steph's numbers. Oh tye will pass the Ray Allens and Millers.

I am going to disagree with Trae Young or anyone beating Steph's record, but not confidently and here is why. At the rate Steph is going he can probably play up until 41/42. Keep in mind that he is a quick release shooter. His feet may not work as fast later on, but his accuracy will still be there. Remember when Ray Allen wanted to come back in his 40s? Had he gotten a contract it would have proven my point. Allen retired at 38 and he was still dropping buckets, so imagine Steph. Him choosing to retire at an earlier age than 41/42 is a different story, but I don't think Young will break his record if Steph plays up until that age.

Trae Young or Donovan Mitchell will never break Steph’s three point record. After the first four years, Trae had 730, Mitchell had 726, and Steph had 644. That’s after Steph playing in just 25 games one of those years. Since then, Steph has had eight seasons with 200 or more threes with three of those with 300 plus and one with 400 plus. Trae and Michell only have two 200 plus 3 point seasons between them. They don’t shoot them at a high enough clip to come anywhere near Steph. You cats need to get your facts right before spewing this crap on your podcasts. If Steph never played again, Trae and Mitchell would have to average 200 plus for the next 11 years to break the record. Unfortunately for them, Steph will play and if healthy, he will average more than 300 threes for the next 3-4 years. Facts!
