This was a bad pilot episode to get Hoff out of Baywatch and the spin offs.

Actually watched it, no. But I had seen of it and all the weird 90s Marvel stuff is so funny to think about, if that Fantastic 4 movie wasn't just to keep the rights it would have been kinda crazy to think about the MCU but 10 years earlier

Like the 1994 fantastic 4? It was a different time! 😂 There were definitely a lot of limitations with special effects as well when trying to turn comic books, which could do anything they wanted, into live action cinema!

Nick fury in the comics is 100% this crazy. The only reason people aren't familiar with it is because samuel jackson is playing the ultimates nick fury. Ultimates fury was always more chill, while original fury was basically sergeant johnson from halo, complete with orion project super soldier serum

That's so fair! I can imagine the comics had a lot more extreme/exaggerated characteristics across the board compared to the modern marvel film interpretations?

@sianirl it halfway depends on the directors of each marvel movie and the actors. I'll admit, wolverine and deadpool are comics accurate, but cyclops acts like a slightly angrier captain america. Most of the mcu is pretty good, except maybe spiderman who acts younger than any spiderman, like they wanted him to be in middle school or something. Iron man is also a lot more like that one scene in iron man 2 where he gets really drunk at a party, but that happens a lot more often in the comics. It's mostly little stuff like that, which don't entirely ruin characters, but it definitely doesn't make them better. It's like disney cuts out the flaws of flagship characters, meanwhile cap is literally supposed to be the only somewhat flawless character in the avengers. I don't like cap that much, I was kinda okay with the whole assassination they did during civil war. It's kinda crazy, because it ends up becoming the comic book equivalent of the jfk assassination

@@MemeLordCthulhu yes! I definitely find the characters way more interesting when they actually have flaws and make mistakes and even some dislikeable characteristics because it's more real and relatable! I would argue captain America is the most boring character because he's so flawless and doesn't seem like a real person

@sianirl that's how he is in the comics, too, but I never read anything from his perspective because I was always more of a wolverine fan. I remember he always seemed like the generic boyscout in the new avengers comics right before and during civil war. Ig you could say him being very libertarian when it comes to the superhero registration act is a flaw, but honestly, I kinda agree with him after what happened to peter 🙃
