The musical part of Maestro's episode would have been better at the start of the episode. Idk, maestro doing such good music with space-magic that people just forget about real life and just want to dance and sing until they litteraly break a leg or their vocal cords. Now THAT would've been something.

@@sianirl remember how the doctor bi-Generated and how the Doctor duplicated the TARDIS? I think the musical number was an after effect. that's the takeaway I got. like with the toymaker you "win a prize", with the god of music "random musical", etc. there's always a by-product after effect that goes with that gods theme. with empire of death and the death of suetkh, I got the implication that the whole universe is back and reborn. Suetkh fixed the Flux. its there. Maybe theres a new galifrey.

Right - I have finally caught-up and watched the whole series now, and just watched your review. I agree with a lot of what you say (yes, Space Babies almost made me stop watching), but the series did get better as it went along. The final 2 episodes almost felt like "vintage" Dr Who, with some good old "hide behind the sofa" moments. Yes, some weak stuff in there, too, but I'll be watching Series 2. I enjoyed your review - look forward to the next one.

I think the crying part is more of a character development, since Mel even mentioned it in the first part of the finale to essentially 'Man up'. It is opposite of Capaldi's Doctor.

I enjoyed your take. I also like that we get your opinions as they happen and your guesses as to what might happen later in this video. Well Done. I didn't enjoy 73 yards at all. Such a great premise delivered so disappointingly. I did hear someone say it's like a David Lynch film. If you enjoy his stuff (I don't) you are more likely to accept the unexplained weirdness in here.

I obviously still had a lot of criticism of the 73 yards episode, but I think when I was reflecting back on all of them I realised it was the one I was most invested in while watching it, I really wanted to see what happened and how Ruby dealt with everything. Admittedly it may be my favourite of a bad bunch 😂

Surrealism is fine as a concept, but whose? Some people have the gift of surreal imagery, they have a talent for it. The Dr Who writer/showrunner does not. On the Dot and Bubble "race" episode, wouldn't it have been ten times more effective in the battle against racism to simply write a black doctor throughout the series as capable, strong, reeking with integrity, gravitas and wisdom, instead of a dancing, promiscuous, emotionally unstable, ineffective twonk? Another question: Isn't it telling that the best performing episodes were the ones without the Doctor in them?

The weird AI moment in Boom reminded me of that “father’s love” moment with James Corden and Matt Smith. Just ridiculous. This series was chock full of boring characters I just didn’t care about, Ruby and The Doctor included. The Doctor keeps telling us characters matter, but they’re just boring and… don’t. It’s worst at UNIT, though. I hate the scenes in UNIT. They’re the worst - nobody has a personality and all they do is repeat what The Doctor has said.

@@sianirlGirl, me too. Same. 🤯 I didn’t enjoy this series at all. Rogue was an interesting character too and I think they were trying to rework the earlier ‘Girl in the Fireplace’ arc with the bittersweet ending trope. They defeated the big bad, but at what cost? The sacrifice of a smart, interesting character who had so much more to offer/romance potential. 🤣 There are just so many problems with this series. Will you be watching the next one? I hope The Doctor and his next companion have more chemistry and they don’t spend the entire series forcing the idea that they’re ‘best friends’.

@@MizziProductions yeh I'm going to keep watching, probably after binging season 1-4 of the og reboot to keep me going 😂 but yeh it felt like they kept saying "we're best friends" rather than showing them building their friendship over time. Not sure who's calling the shots because it is so different to Russel T Davies' original style in the old seasons!
