The contrast between these guys and their successors is interesting. The Toa Mata were built to be great protectors, whereas the Metru trained incredibly hard to get to their peak of character, same for the Toa Inika

Yeah, it's a great theme of heroes being made rather than born. Though the Toa Mata were trained by the Order of Mata Nui prior to them entering the canisters that carried them to the Island of Mata Nui.

Håller med! För toa nuvorna, var alltid toaer. Till från första början precis efter att universumet hade skapats, medans toa inikorna så väl som toa metrunarna var ju till en början matoraner du vet. Det är därför, annars om de hade alltid varit toaer. Så hade de inte behövt gå från grunden helt enkelt.

Trial by fire, I'd say. Hapless Matoran thrown into a situation that already killed their predecessors and coming through victorious. They were the opposite of the Mata in many ways, lacking in training but aware of the situation and the world surrounding them.

@@bionic-tale4313 even that is all a post 03 retcon nonsense ?both the training and the mata being made to be THE toa) the mata on their own had their forged by fire arc in 01 so all in all the mata had both a convoluted origin power creep and the heroes are made not Born stuff The inika are my fav of the main 3 teams tho

​​@@kR-qj7rwI mean how? I mean they still have their own struggles to deal with. Especially when they forget their past as well as unity due to being in the canisters for too long. I know its a retcon, however I don't see how it's bad. On the power creep, that only happens when they become Toa Nuva, in their original Mata forms their no stronger than an average Toa. The reason they appear to retain their skill is due to the protodermic muscle memory they processed that allow them to retain much of their training from Hydraxon despite their amnesia. Another thing to note that their purpose is to awaken the Great Spirit should he fall, as that is their destiny as told to them by the Order of Mata Nui.

Toa Metru are the best Bionicle G1 Toa team sets we ever got. Perfect blend of form and function with nearly all new pieces that work with each other. They also have proportioned bodies. Pinnacle of Slizer engineering.

I think the Metru time is my favorite part of the Bionicle storyline. The Makuta are plotting their coup and the new Toa not only have to learn what it means to be Toa but also stop the Dark Hunters and Visorak.

when I first watched “Legends of Metru Nui” this group of Toa became my favorite, it’s a pity they don’t make cartoons like this, I would have watched the backstory of Metru Nui)

I like how Vakama’s voice got deeper after his transformation compared to the rest of Toa Hordika like Matau remain the same I think it shows more of the aggression and animalistic side of Vakama. Also I think his voice actor Alessandro Juliani did an amazing job as Hordika Vakama!

Just skipped the 2005 storyline and the retrieval of the mask of time. :P But, it's a great resume of the Toa metru's story. Great work and I'm happy to see you doing so many videos in these last few days. Can't wait to see the next one.

We purposely did that since the 2005 storyline was mainly tied to them in their Toa Hordika forms and the Time Trap was mostly about Vakama alone, not the team as a whole. We will eventually do a video on the Toa Hordika to cover the 2005 story which is why we held off on that.

I never liked the retcon of Teridax influencing Lhikan for the choices of toa and then Mata Nui in turn influencing Teridax. It's a pretty pointless bit of lore to add.
