The fact people still make videos about the very first Bionicles from 2001 proves how timeless it is

Pohatu is by far my favorite Toa in terms of personality. I actually based much of how I would behave in the gym off of his jockish but friendly attitude.

I like him just because he is basically Sonic in the Matoranverse.

Although the Toa Cordak were hailed as the first Toa team by the mataron, the Mata were actually first, but weren't active at the time. Only the Order of Mata Nui, Artakha and the AV-Mataron were aware of the Toa Mata's existence.

Well this was informative. I have to admit that after a decade spent absorbing Bionicle content I didn't think there was much I didn't know, but the added detail of the team knowing they were to lose there memories in the Codrex, and accepting that fate adds a certain level of tragedy to the rest of the story, particularly the early years where they had to reacquaint themselves on Mata Nui. And for a favourite member of the team, I'd say Kopaka, with Onua as close second.

I remember buying these toa at a gas station many years back but I do have fond memories of their next forms the Nuva which I consider my first real dive into bionicle

Here is a suggestion for the next bionicle explained video based on the original bionicle story: Toa Teams. maybe cover the known Toa Teams, and how they impacted the story, and the backstories of the members of many toa teams. maybe cover the toa hagah, or the toa metru! it would be a cool episode imo.

Random thing to mention, the first few letters in each of the Toa Mata’s names are the Matoran names for their individual elements. Ta-hu (Ta is the name for fire.) Ga-li (Ga is Water) Po-hatu (Po is Stone) Onu-a (Onu is Earth) Ko-paka (Ko is Ice) Le-wa (Le is Air)

Prefixes, not necesasrily the full names. We don't know if ta can mean fire on its own without being a prefix. it could, though, but maybe not. Maybe in an unprefixed form it's a longer word.

The lore seems to imply that the Toa Mata were basically a team of repair technicians.

I think I like all the Bionicle characters I used to look at Bionicle a long time ago even watch the movies and in games and all that stuff nevertheless my favorite it's personally Tahou he may be a hard head but he is a fierce leader because nevertheless you need to have a strong leader in teamwork to make things better that's the one thing I like about Bionicle is a legend that comes to life 😉👍

I'm confused about the hydraxon part. i thought he become hydraxon because of the mask of life turned him to him. but great video I problem need to look into it my self

Hydraxon is kind of a weird case so I’ll explain his situation real quick. The Hydraxon we saw in 2007 was not the original Hydraxon that trained the Toa Mata. Instead he was the Matoran Dekar, who got transformed to look like and think he was Hydraxon by the Ignika. The real, original Hydraxon was killed during the Great Cataclysm when the Barraki escaped from The Pit, so essentially, the Hydraxon we see in 2007 and the Hydraxon that trained the Mata are two completely different people. Hope that helps!

@@Pilot_of_Solace i hated this part in the story. The second Hydraxon is literally the same as the original: he looks the same, he acts the same, he has all memories of the original. Would've been better if Hydraxon survived the Great Cataclysm and would've hunted prisoners that escaped the Pit up to the 2007 story, while Dekar was a normal Matoran that assisted the Toa Mahri. If not, it would've been better that Dekar would've nearly died, and then the Ignika would transfer Hydraxon's soul into his body, reviving the original Hydraxon in Dekar's body, rather than transforming him into a new Hydraxon that literally is the same.

Is it true that most toa weren't matoran? I thought it was just Helryx and the Toa Mata.

i personally would prefer the old version of design as they look more 'alive' & the design been shown in this video look like a simplified version ... =(
