I just wanted something to use to read my textbooks in a comfortable way and draw/annotate diagrams but I guess it would be good for streaming and browsing nonetheless. I couldn’t justify paying so much given my fairly light use so for less than a brand new iPad 9 I bought a used iPad Pro 10.5. Feels like a bargain, for less money, it has thinner bezels - a larger screen in the same chassis, anti reflective coating and important to me - a laminated display!, faster Touch ID 2, and the best part is it outclasses the current Air that costs 3x more in the areas that people choose the Pro for - 120hz and quad speakers - loving both features. Plus a good camera too with OIS and a flash for a torch. Feels like an amazing bargain to enjoy Pro level features for less than the base model!

I just bought my 1st ever iPad and I got the 12.9" Pro. I don't have a laptop, just an iMac so, with the MKB, it bridges the gap to my iPhone perfectly. Yes, I could've got a MacBook Pro for the same price, but MacBooks don't come with touch screens, so I've got the best of both worlds IMO. I use Scrivener on my iMac and the iPad now gives me a portable solution. I also bought the new iPad Air for my wife, along with an Apple Pencil (she has a MacBook Pro), and she's thrilled with it.

It's helping me decide on what I would like, and might officially pull the trigger on expanding into the iPad market. I, too, am frustrated that the iPad Air only comes in 64 and 256. Give us 128 at a price between the 64 and 256.....and take my money! 64 just seems far too little. Especially for $599. I may be holding out for the next one to see if the iPad Air can come in 128.

I was torn between buying the 9th gen for its budget friendly price or the iPad pro for its M1 chip. However, I realized that I'm mainly using it for school and not really doing some heavy stuff, so I chose 9th gen with 256gb❤️. I watch Netflix on my iPad too from time to time. Very very good points. I was going for ipad Air and then you pointed out the price point is near ipad pro already. Apple is really good with this pricing ladder. For the cellular version of the iPad, I would recommend it. As someone who experiencing losing their ipad before, that cellular version will come handy as having wifi only would not give you a real-time GPS tracking if ever you lose your ipad. So shedding a few more dollars for the cellular version is a good investment. Unless you have iphone (I use Android for phones, I know), then just grab the airtag instead of the cellular version. Again, it really depends on your needs and situation. But for someone who uses android and iPad combos, shedding out a few more dollars on the cellular version would be the best bet

The next iteration of iPad Pro M1 11” needs a mini LED to set itself further apart from the new iPad Air 5. The value vs premium comparison of the latest Air vs current 11” pro is definitely blurred. Either way, it’s a great pair with a Magic Keyboard or a Logitech Touch (that also has a touchpad and uses the pogo connectors) and the Apple Pencil 2. The base iPad also has a great Logitech keyboard and touchpad option as well!

My 12.9 third generation with the A12X still feels very quick. I think most people would have trouble seeing the performance difference between mine and the newer pros, for now at least. As time goes on the performance improvements made will become more noticeable. Plus all of the Magic keyboards for the 5th gen 12.9 will work on my ipad as well. So if you can score a used or refurbished 3rd gen for a decent price I'd say it would be worth considering. I also have the promotion display and Second gen apple pencil support.

  • @Mohammad_Ali__

Considering battery drainage and reducing eye strain, I would definitely recommend going for a 11” iPad Pro. I am experiencing the use of it and the use is satisfying (especially health-wise). Other than that I recommend this iPad Pro 11” not just because of not wasting (or using) too much money, but also because it takes less space. Price wise I say it’s not just taxes that matter, but also the price of the product itself affects the user’s experience. Not to mention that glass isn’t much of a good thing to use as material, as I definitely would go for titanium (since it’s a very durable, yet a strong metal) over glass with such an expensive price. Apple needs to start thinking more about what to do to reduce or permanently put an end to battery health reduction (especially when cases come to software performance).

Ended up getting the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) 64GB like new condition and paid 550usd for it. I can't resist the big, beautiful screen and 120hz. Definitely worth the extra $200+ dollars.

I would like to raise my hand in favour of cellular models, tbh. My story is that I immediately got the Mini because I knew what I was going to use it for. The Mini comes along with me to the gym, cafes, relaxing on the bed, it’s the perfect size, aaand, I stick magnetic plates on the back of my casing, stick some more on my dashboard, and split the screen for music and gps for my drives. I did initially thought I’d just hotspot it everywhere. But, I regretted that since it was noticeably slow when I’m using the gps that I was missing some toll exits. And I had to carry my phone and the Mini too while working out. I use fitness apps, and it’s obviously better to watch them on an iPad than a phone. Note: there are instances when I don’t want want my phone to be around; too many notifications etc, can’t be bothered. So, after some while I started to get irritated. Didn’t think I would, but time proved me wrong. So I changed it to the cellular model, and to me, it really made a difference. But hey, that’s for me. :)

Excellent video. I have a 2008 iPad Pro (12.9”, 512GB). It does everything I want it to do(word processing, watching videos, etc.), but I sure like the improved contrast of the new 12.9” Pro screen and the “future proofing” of an M1 or M2 chip. As much as I’m tempted, I think I’ll wait another year.

I just upgraded to the new iPad Air from the 9.7in iPad. I had it for around 4 years and it worked super well. I still have it but the battery is completely useless, unfortunately. It lasts maybe 30mins on a full charge. I may yet get the battery replaced so I can give the iPad to my sibling (they’d appreciate it for youtube/drawing but don’t need a super new iPad for what they want) but I decided to upgrade for myself as I was planning to do so anyway next year. So far, the iPad Air has been great. I’m a student so most of what I use my iPad for is taking notes, and the bigger screen and thinner bezels has been absolutely awesome to write on. It’s the first time I’ve used two apps side by side and actually enjoyed it. On the 9.7in, it was just a little bit too small to feel comfortable. I went for the base 64GB model as my last iPad was 32GB so 64GB is still an upgrade and it’s just been a very sleek and enjoyable experience. I feel like the Air is a perfect upgrade for someone upgrading from an older iPad.

I didn't use a tablet before recently having same feeling that it's more of an unnecessary luxury in case you already have phone and laptop. but sincerely now after I got one (Xiaomi (mi) pad 5 more specifically) I just feel like I am using it way more often than I thought... I prefer to watch stuff on it more than on my laptop giving the weight and portability features and the truth is it often happens that the screen is better for media consumptions than for the laptop.. not to mention that you don't have to eventually boot it up it's just more of a pick it up and use it situation (now I know Macbooks don't actually require much of a boot up, but for the rest of us that are usually using windows... :D ) In any case sometimes just for consumption I often feel like I leave my laptop behind for many days if I don't have any specific work on it. So for me having a nice tablet is quite a great deal and a life quality improvement. Speaking of tablets... the Xiaomi pad 5 is still an awesome deal in 2022 and you can find it new with some deals at prices as low as 330$ on some sites. It is an excellent tablet. And I'd seriously be curious to see your comparison of the mi pad 5 against the normal iPad and the iPad Air.

HARDCORE iPad user here. I use my iPads for musician work (sheet music) and mobile presentations (keynote). Laptops won’t cut it there: touchscreen needed + keyboards get in the way. 12’9 is perfect size for sheet music. It can replace 100s of A4/ Letter size pages… and you can have them nicely organized on your iPad. Switching to iPads was a game changer for me. Smaller 11 inch (10’9) or even 10’2 can still be ok for sheet music… if you can keep your notation close or have a good eyesight. It is a bit smaller than the standard A4/ Letter size page of music though. I can’t comment if iPad Mini is usable at all, because I don’t own it. I love the Mini-LED on the 12’9 iPad Pro. The so called „blooming” issue is exaggerated. AMAZING screen (I want a 27 inch desktop version). With that being said, I use my smaller iPads 10’2-11 inch more often for media consumption around the house. They’re more comfortable to carry around.

I got the base iPad the day before the new Air got announced, which almost made me question my decision. But I pushed through and I am honestly fine with it. I don't think I need the extra "bells and whistles" that the other versions offer, and I think it can work well as a backup for my laptop and bring it in cases where I don't want to bring my laptop. I also didn't get the cellular version coz I have a pocket wifi and a phone I can tether the data from. What I kind of not like was the fact that it was, ironically, too big for me. I initially wanted the mini, but I got the iPad because of the price. Not a big issue, I just thought that sometimes it felt big and clunky. I guess it really goes down to what you really need it for and you have to see it in person first before you decide. At least next time I would know how to choose, but that would take a long time for me to replace this one.

Even the people I know who swear by their Pixels and Galaxy S/Notes choose an iPad, this has to be the Apple product which has the most universal appeal across the board. Samsung can make lovely hardware, but when you have an abandoned tablet platform (there used to be sm android tablets a decade ago) with no one caring to optimise mobile apps for it and tons of class leading apps like Adobe Suite, Procreate and Notability missing… Plus people keep their iPads far longer than phones, and Apple has proven they can do 8 years of day one OS updates to hardware from 2014, I seriously don’t blame people for voting with their wallets and not feeling like they need to get an Android tablet just because they have an Android phone.

Written June 3, 2022 The important thing is which iPad you need for you daily life and consider the pros/cons of both. For example, I bought an iPad mini 5 as my first iPad in 256gb storage because I wanted to use it solely as a gaming/movie/media hub so, out of my 37 ps1-ps4 games on it, I’ve used 133gb total with plenty storage left for movies. The iPad Air + other iPads have a obvious advantage being larger but that also presents cons like faster uncomfortable holding the longer you hold it. The Mini 6 is extremely comfortable to hold for most of the day in your hands via is rounded sides and nearly same height in all directions but suffers if you truly need a bigger screen All do the same thing on IpadOS so a bigger screen don’t really matter unless you use it in a creative job. All both are portable but if you need a bigger screen, hook a USBC in the iPad mini to a tv or computer and boom, you got yourself a iPad Air Edit: also a magnetic keyboard for any non mini iPad is nearly 400$ and it’s not very stable

Apple really needs to consolidate this line up because eventually they have to put 120Hz in mini and air. At that point no one is going to buy Pro 🤨. U might say that Pro has better camera but no one use camera for photography on iPad. It is mostly used for doc scan and u don’t need triple high end camera for doc scanning.

At that point iPad Pro might have even better specs Maybe 240hz display? Multiple usb c ports ? Wireless charging and reverse charging (Charge your iPhone using your ipad... I mean you can already do that but if it was wireless it would be better) Front facing lidar camera (for AR) Personally I would love to have usb c video IN 12.9 inch is large enough to use it as a small monitor , you could use it with a Mac mini to turn your iPad into a Mac (There’s already a company that does an adapter for that “Luna display”, but it would be better if it was already on the iPad)

My mum has pro. She loves it. If folks can afford it, I say get it. It’s the flagship of the ipads, just like the watches and phones have flagship versions to them. It all depends on the need and use of the individual.

Bought an iPad pro 11" with a smart folio and 2nd gen apple pencil for me and my gf, about a year ago and tbh it was a genuine great purchase, we dont regret anything. battery life still amazing, no cracks, use it nightly for hulu or media consumption and let alone we use it for drawing daily. Still a beast. Apples come a very long way!

Will get iPad pro M-2 11 inch simply because i play heavy games and already used to 120hz display. But for most people even the base model is great enough
