It's a perfect smartphone replacement in a professional setting for me (like meetings, for example). I can always take notes, reply to chats, browse, and whatever without looking like you're browsing Tiktok or casually chatting on your phone. You can also lowkey open it up on the table while having a casual coffee meeting. It's so small it doesn't look too serious or formal. And it's so light that you can actually watch stuff while lying down. I spent 7+ hours sitting at an office desk, I don't want to spend the rest of my day at another.

I had an iPad mini 2 for 8 years before I broke it and it was a great device for its time. It really captures the essence of what the iPad was initially designed for; the iPad wasn’t supposed to be a laptop replacement, it was supposed to be a fun middle ground between a phone and iPad designed for fun, since phones were too small to game with and MacBooks have been designed with productivity in mind over gaming. The iPad mini is truly the best iPad for doing iPad things rather than doing laptop things

My iPad mini 2 still runs great with streaming and email. Some apps refused to be installed there because of obsolescence. Some old ones broke after I was urged to update them, thus I stopped updating my old apps. If they specifically stop working then I removed them.

I got my first mini in 2014 I believe. I have upgraded it twice and currently have the latest version. It is the absolute best device . It’s bigger than a phone and great for streaming and videos, but it’s small enough to fit in my jacket pocket. It’s the perfect sweet spot. Super easy to use when sitting or lying down and not heavy at all. I wish it were around for the first 40 years of my life!

I’ve been using my iPad Mini as my secondary productivity device since March of 2022, and I’m absolutely loving it! It never ceases to amaze me how productive I can be on the go with it, and I don’t always need to worry about carrying my laptop around everywhere. My iPad Mini fits quite nicely in my purse, along with the external keyboard I use, and when I need to do any productivity related tasks on the go, I can just whip out my iPad Mini, connect it to my personal hotspot and bingo. And speaking of typing, I totally get where you’re coming from when it comes to using an external keyboard. However, for me as a person who is totally blind, I rely very heavily on an external keyboard for typing and for navigating using the VoiceOver screen reader, so my use case is a bit different from that of a sighted user in that regard. I love that the iPad makes use of a lot of keyboard shortcuts, not just for screen reader navigation, but in a lot of native and third party apps as well. If you’re going to be doing a lot of typing on the iPad, I would recommend the Logitech K480 keyboard as it’s small enough to fit in a purse or backpack, and yet super comfortable to type on. I also have the Logitech Keys2Go, but I find the K380 has a better typing experience, and plus it connects to three devices at a time. This being said, I wouldn’t say that the iPad Mini is a full fledged replacement for my MacBook Air, however it does make a phenomenal replacement for ridiculously over-priced specialized notetaking devices for blind users, so it’s definitely a plus there. Yay for mainstream devices with accessibility right out of the box!

The Mini 6 is my favorite iPad, I also own the 12.9 M1 but the Mini gets far more usage, it goes with me whenever I get into my car. My 12.9 has only been out the house once during the entire year and a half that I’ve owned it. I sold my regular iPad 7th gen so I could buy the Mini 6 and it was the best decision I've made. It's perfect for consuming media (esp. because I have the iPhone 13 mini which is def not great for that) and the note-taking functionality is amazing. There are so many use cases in my daily life that I'm genuinely not even concerned about the future generation iPads unless I do something stupid and break mine. As a typically Android user, I am still surprised by how much I enjoy using my iPad and having the small iPhone. Highly recommend!

I have an IPad Air 5 and the iPad mini that are my current 8n use iPads and usually I use my IPad Air 5 but recently after travelling with my iPad mini on holiday I’ve continued using it afterwards and honestly I’ve enjoyed it more than I used to. I will definitely be going back to my larger screen soon for most of my home use but yeah I’m actually surprised by how much I haven’t felt like I need to switch back to the larger screen yet cause I used to really prefer the larger screen over the smaller one. I think what’s great with the minis is that they do offer a few of the more premium features- especially the newest one (like Apple Pencil support and a better screen).

I've used an iPad Pro for about 4 years as my main interface for almost all of my tedious office work, Lightroom and even video edits. I first had a foldable keyboard, but after some coffee damage switched to a keyboard case. The keyboard case is obviously better, but not by that much. Now, when I had to purchase a MB pro for some work stuff, my next iPad will likely by a mini, and a foldable keyboard. That will suffice to most of my work stuff. And when it doesn't, I pull out the MB pro.

I use Goodnotes with PDF templates I made for work notes. I was using iPad air 4, but went to the mini 6 and i love the smaller screen size for note taking. I eventually got a non-apple brand case with slot for the apple pencil, and that is not nearly as 'too big' as I thought it might be. I now don't have to dig around in my bag for the pencil. If one has need for smaller form factor, the iPad mini is something to consider for sure.

I still use my iPad mini 5 with A12. It’s the last one with a Touch ID Home button. I like having Home button and related wider bezel (along narrow sides) to make easier to hold and not touch screen by mistake. The older A12 provides excellent performance with apps I use, it works with my 1st gen Apple Pencil, screen is fine… I’ll keep using it as long as possible. It must still be popular because Apple will give me $165 trade-in for it (base storage with cellular), which has actually gone UP.

I also use as a notepad and wish I could use Pencil 2 (and it had USBC), but I do have a 1 and just have to remember to charge it. I also checked the other day on trade in--and too got $165--so its worth that to me too LOL. When she found out the pencil works with it, she wanted that too. She loves the size. My son had the 9 inch iPad (regular) and I have a 12.9 inch. We’ve always had a 9 inch and she rarely ever used it. The mini size factor made 100% of the difference. Since the 7 is likely next year, we decided to get the 6 now. I like the iPad mini 6 and use it almost as much as my 27" iMac. I also have a conventional iPad, but I never use it, b/c of the form factor. I've been using Macs since 1984, and Apple products before that. My biggest problem with the mini is that I can't find a comprehensive reference manual that shows me how to exploit its power. Like the Missing Manuals, I don't want to be most efficient or a power user expert, I just want a paper book with an excellent index and table of contents, which answers the question - How do I do XYZ? An example - I have my home screen customized the way I want. I upgraded to the most recent iPadOS and I lost the stack that included a photo of my dog as well as a few other useful widgets. I was able to rebuild the stack with the widgets, but it wouldn't recognize my Photos content : "Content not found". About a week later, I plugged in the mini and charged back up to about 90% [I keep it between 30% and about 90% , assuming the battery is charge-fragile like the iPhone.] The widget stack disappeared and the Dog Photo appeared on my home page. I hesitate to futz around, because the time isn't worth it... and "It just works" does seem to apply to the mini. At the moment, I have to get my info in bits and pieces off KZread. I don't want a solution to my specific example [Yes, I do, but not here...] ... Are there any authors and reference books available to help me with the Mini, and that will help me when iPadOS is released?

Happy owner of it since launch, culling and editing on Lightroom never felt so good! It also supports Da Vinci resolve, so you can do simple cuts with it! 4k drone footages? No problem!

64 GB base storage is a serious kick in the nuts to customers by Apple. Total joke in 2023.

I’m still over here rocking the iPad mini 4 😂. Unfortunately the battery life recently has shortened significantly and has me contemplating if I should buy a new one now or just wait for my 4 to completely die lol

@Dailytekk great videos, i really enjoy them. Just to let you know, i did order the oriGrid Traveler's Notebook for iPad mini 6, based on your recomendation. The Notebook arrived missing the case to hold the iPad mini. I attempted to contact customer service, they did not respond. There is a chat bot on the website, I was unable to get support through there either. So, hopefully this is an isolated incidence, but maybe not. I wanted to let you know since you likely get the best support and not the customer experience.

As an Apple fan, i've been weighing on getting the next Ipad Mini. Just bought the Samsung S9 tablet instead. Everything i need. Good form factor. Fits into my Slingbag for casual everyday carry. Comes with S pen and nice slim keyboard. fantastic pen placement so you wont lose it easily. Pen writes better than Apple pencil without having to buy paperlike screen protector. Glorious screen - OLED . Everything we wished the next Ipad Mini to be. I reckon Ipad Mini 7 will likely fall short. The S9 has got good accessories I would eventually get eg privacy screen

I love the mini iPad. I use it more than my phone I think. I have the 12.9inch iPad. iPhone. And MacBook Pro. So the mini in my mind was going to be my e reader and media device. But I will say I probably still will buy a kindle because as I’m reading and falling asleep I’m always worried I’ll drop it off May be and bust it up. If a $90 kindle breaks I’m less sad. Lol

I’ve had a mini for years now as a backup for my iPhone. It’s used daily. Having broken a few of them over the years I literally panic without one. So handy to have a second device to stay connected and I have never needed a whole lot of storage and mainly use mine for streaming/entertainment and/or shopping so I usually just go with the basics so even a 64g mini is far more than I’ve grown used to being constrained too since I started out with the paltry 2,4 and 6g mini’s. 64g is kind of a luxury already for us old skool users! Lol! My last tablet I had to downgrade to the more affordable Samsung when I finally broke my iPad mini 4 so I went with a basic Samsung package and right out of the box I have never been so disappointed with a device. Despite only needing a basic tablet for the things I use it for its easy to forget just how fast the better chip is in the iPad mini’s. And boy did I get used to having a speedy tablet. It feels like a goddamn eternity just waiting for a basic Samsung tablet to power up let alone just how slow it is simply loading content! Didn’t bother me one but when I finally ended up accidentally dropping it and breaking the screen cause it was just the excuse I needed to be forced into purchasing a new iPad mini 6 to replace it! Lol! Just pulled the trigger on a new mini 6 and I am so looking forward to receiving it and for the faster chip. It will be heavenly after dealing with this piece of crap Samsung for the last 2 or 3 years! I won’t make that mistake again!

@@ptolemyclarke I bought it 2 years ago so whatever version was out at that time. I bought the most basic offering. It was only $200. Piece of crap. Slow as hell too! Very frustrating. Takes almost 3 minutes just to power up. Lol!

I want an ipad mini to take with me in my purse- I have an 12 in ipad pro that I absolutely LOVE for home use alongside my computer workspace for notes/planning/art, but it's so cumbersome to take anywhere- plus having a macbook that's just about the same size, I just don't need something that hefty to take out and about with me. But I don't want to lose access completely to the apple pencil/goodnotes. I would use the mini SO much. I just wish they weren't so expensive, it's hard to justify having another device that I don't really NEED when they're still nearly $1000 for the size I'd want.
