Where does Chicken Sleep at Night ? How to build a Roosting Room

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A chicken roosting room is a place for chickens to perch on roost that is off of the ground to get together and congregate at night to sleep. It helps them to feel safe from predators.
The dangers of chickens sleeping on the ground, without a roost, leaves them more susceptible to pathogens and bacteria in the litter on the floor of the coop, as well as external parasites such as mites and lice.
Hollis design the roost to be easy to maintain and comfortable for our chickens. We hope this video can give you tips and ideas for your chickens.

that looks nice Hollis and Nancy. 1 thing I would do is not go with 1/4 on the back wall. It might not stand up to the chicken poop and pressure washing very long, maybe 1/2 marine plywood. God Bless you two.

Don’t forget to wear a respirator. I had a friend that raised chickens for years and cleaned out his three coops every weekend. He died from something he caught from breathing the dust from the droppings, but he only wore a dust mask.

Welp..Looks like fight for my tomatoe plants life...After 2 weeks of rain. .And worked the ground to aerate some to get the areas to dry some. .This week we had good dry mid heat..I noticed yellowing on some of the plants leaves.. I have healthy 4ft stalks. .and tomatoes showing growth .. Problem earlier during last. Week was a wilt at top..Faught that back with the aerate. .Recovery looked good. .I'm seeing a few signs of bloom fall off. At end..Not all.. I definitely used the tomatoe feed mix during growth. .To keep this from happening. .I cut back the water..So roots will feel good...and not suffocating effects. . It was mentioned to use a mix of lime water. To add calcium back in after all that rain 2 weeks ago.. These happen to be all 5 gal. Containers, except two big better boys in ground. Dirt blend was good. .through out process. . These four graded contains. .gave plenty of drainage at bottom as well. . I went ahead. .And used a light mix spray of NEEM..on the tomatoes today due to early sign..and pest coming.. Any remarks? To o'l bruised green thumb. .lol..

I’d love a video on what tools you refuse to go without along with safety measures for storage for fishing on and off the boat. My uncle and I built a 16’x6’ flat bottom river skiff out of plywood for my son and the last storm a tree fell on it and broke the port side rib. I’m going to start repairs and get a designated area for it like a shed

Whew, glad to see you keep the water handy! Nice roost. How about adding some wooden closet poles so the chickens can really wrap the feet around it. Run the poles right where you were standing at the close of the video. Two poles on top side by side and two across the bottom from one end to the other. I would be curious to see what they would roost on. Keep up the good work you two. Isn't Florida fun in the summer? ;)

This is Carl from Northeast Ohio let me start by saying God bless all of you. I have been following you for years. I hope you can get back to me I have a problem. I got way behind this year I had planned on planting potatoes like Mr Hollis does in containers. So I ordered sets online. The sets I got had beautiful eyes on them so I cut most of them in half and put them in the box about a week ago some of them got the skin like he said they would but some of them are molded my question is what do I do plant them cut the mold off ??? If you can get back to me I would SOOOO appreciate it. Just to let you know I absolutely love your new place. It's like your living my dream. I have talked to you before I got baptized in September and came to Christ and it had changed my life. With that I hope you can get back to me God Bless.
