Not the last build!! You’ll need to build a special roost for the best platinum egg laying chicken of the week! She'll need a special feeder with grubs from the garden areas. I know you’ve got another build up your sleeve.😊 All of the builds are so awesome. I rewatch the videos to inspire me in my garden. 👍🏾 I feel so blessed being able to refer back to your detailed videos and drawings. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 😇

Hi. I feel the roof is too high letting in a lot of sun to heat the water still . Consider adding shade cloth to help with that. Again shade cloth on 3 sides would dull the rain spatter. I get why the roof is so high for bending purposes, why don't you add a small framed out area to hold large sturdy metal feed storage container for a 30-50lb bag. Less walk to bring feed to metal feeder n get mobbed by birds on the way. Love your detail in building. Peace to you and yours

Although my hanging feeder is under cover too, I ended up making a top for it out of sheet metal to keep the chickens from getting inside of it and blowing rains as well. I left slits on the lids sides (outside rim) so I can take the bail handle off and the lid to fill it. Your the best when it comes to homestead construction Hollis! I can't wait to see the chickens! Your going to have eggs coming out of your ears! Love y'all!

Your place is looking beautiful. At first I thought you were going to put shade cloth at least half way down all around to keep the rain from blowing in the feed. You should consider a lid for the feed. The humidity alone will definitely cause issues. I've see people make feeders from 4 inch pvc pipe 3 ft tall with a removable cap. You are doing a great job on your property. Looking forward to seeing more videos...especially the gardening videos.

Chickens will eat wet feed quite nicely. The won’t like it if there is standing water though. You might want to consider adding rain water collection and use the water cups for clean automatic watering.

You may want to throw a scrap od chicken wire over the s hook on the feeder. They will be crapping in the feeder from the top. An unstable scrap of the wire hanging up there keeps them off and still easy to fill the feeder. Ask me how I know!! Looks great though!!

The area under the deck might be a hiding place for snakes. They like chicken eggs. You might need to make sure it is flush with the ground, where they can’t get under there.

I have a question. (First off, you seem to have some experience in construction? My background is architecture and I LOVE figuring out projects like this. However, I'm used to much larger scale and have some trouble when it comes to smaller things like chicken coops, lean to type structures, etc.) So that being said, my question is.... if I just want to make a small place for my free ranger birds in my backyard and maybe put it right beside my coop, do I really need to sink 4x4 posts in the ground? I will ultimately only have 6 female English Buff Orpingtons and 1 male English Buff Orpington that free range once I'm done downsizing my flock. But I'll also have 2 RIR females, and 5 American Buff Orpingtons that will be relegated to a coop and run since they are capable of flying over the neighbors fence. I'll probably try to come up with something similar for both (one in the run and one outside of the coop for my large breed free rangers) but on a much smaller scale. Also curious if you are located in a humid climate like I am? I am so worried about food molding here in southeastern NC so I have the troublesome task of checking their feeders nightly which is a pain in the tookus. LOL! Edit: Sorry, I commented before finishing the video. Now I'm curious how this works with wind driven rain? Eastern NC gets lots of wind driven rain and we have to battle with hurricane season also. I'm wondering if using a similar wire reinforcement method like you did and then adding a sturdy, greenhouse type of shield on the three sides that would expect to receive the most rain (with some tiny holes in it to avoid it getting ripped) would work. So sorry so long. I'm a thinker. LOL!
