Thank you, Dr. Petrovich. This has been so much fun! Archaeology helps me to better understand what I read in the bible.

Archaeology is so interesting. So many choose to twist it, and use their positions and seeming expertise to justify the twisting. It’s refreshing to see you approach the subject so humbly. Undoubtedly that’s a byproduct of your faith.

@41:00 How? How do I get involved? I have always been interested but have no idea how to pursue it. I don't know where to go, what to look for, what is credible, WHO is credible... I am actually going to go on some hikes this spring in a forest by my town. I want to look for signs of Native Americans in my region. I would prefer to be involved in something "professional" or in the "Education" field but I don't know how to get to that. I just want to be involved, I think this stuff is so interesting and it makes me want to learn more about our near and ancient past. Thank you for putting these together, I am so thankful that I can go back and watch them again, too.

We're so glad that you've enjoyed this series, @jjosborne1982! Thank you for watching! I reached out to an archaeologist who has worked with Dr. Petrovich in the past. Here is what she had to say: "Hello! There are many ways to get involved in archaeological research. Often, archaeological digs accept volunteers. You can find a list of active digs in Israel and Jordan here: www.biblicalarchaeology.org/digs/. If you are particularly interested in biblical based archaeology, I recommend Associates for Biblical Research: www.biblearchaeology.org. They are currently excavating at biblical Shiloh, and they accept volunteers on the excavation. You can find details at www.digshiloh.org."

@@IsGenesisHistory Thank you very much! I will look into these links and options and see how and where I may be able to get involved. I only live about 2 hours from Lancaster PA… which is where ABR is located, correct? That may also be helpful.

@jjosborne1982 You are very welcome! So glad we could help. And ABR is located in Akron, Pennsylvania, which is only a 20 minutes drive from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Sounds like a trip over there is definitely worth your consideration! :-)

Dr. Doug, is it true in Israel the principle cardinal directions are east and west rather than north and south?

Does Ishbaal refresh to Baal the pagan god? What’s the connection, if any?

Ishbaal=man of baal. A lot of Israelites referred to Yahveh as baal, but were rebuked by the prophets. Fits in with biblical account. Some of the scribes changed the texts that originally had baal as part of a proper name so ishbaal became Ishbosheth, "man of shame," because Baal was not a god but a shameful thing of stone.

Bro I'm STILL mad at the scribes. They'd censor or remove the name of God all throughout the Torah. Changing place names. At least most scribes took the job seriously

    Provenance not provenience

That one caught our ears, too! But Dr. Petrovich is using the correct word for archaeology. (one source: researchguides.library.vanderbilt.edu/c.php?g=68837&p=447664) From the French word provenir, which means "to come from." Provenance is the history of ownership of a valued object, such as a work of art. A full provenance provides a documented history that can help prove ownership, assign the work to a known artist, and establish the work of art's authenticity. Note: In archaeology Provenience, meaning the actual place or findspot of an object, while provenance refers to its modern (post-excavation) history.
