You don’t need to lift heavy weights to gain muscles.. it’s a myth that you need to lift more heavy weights to gain muscles. It has to do with number of reps and the way you perform them in order to achieve muscle fatigue. Lifting heavy weights is for the “show”. A 2016 study called ‘Pumping Iron: Lighter Weights Just As Effective As Heavier Weights To Gain Muscle, Build Strength’ published in the Journal Of Applied Physiology found something interesting. It compared two groups of experienced lifters over a 12-week period in which one group used lighter weights (up to 50% of maximum strength) “for sets ranging from 20 to 25 repetitions. The other group lifted heavier weights (up to 90 per cent of maximum strength) for eight to 12 repetitions. Both groups lifted to the point of failure." The conclusion, using muscle and blood samples, said that gains in muscle mass and muscle fibre size were “virtually identical".

People may not understand the full picture. This is a very rare scene because even powerlifters like him may not be doing PR every day. It's always a pleasure to see one at live. It sounds completely different from a video. When the bars hit the ground, the earth trembles. The plate and the bar sounds like two trucks hitting each other. Go to the gym and every once in a while, you get a treat to spot one live.

I do the 5x5 once a week, but I do my auxiliary lifts as well during the week. Hip thrust, leg press etc. and once a month I take a day and check my 1RM on a day where I feel good :D Form above all, the rest just comes... eat good and sleep well.
