Brazilian here before anyone says anything... Norway is the only team in the entire world to have more wins than losses against Brazil in men's football matches. All respect to Norway football. Not that it is anything extremely out of the ordinary, but they are the only ones that can brag about that, if they wanted to.

When Norway met Brazil and defeated Brazil, Norway had a golden generation of footballers and a coach that made the players believe in him. Norway's National Team during the 1990's is nothing but a fairytale. Sadly Norway isn't really a football nation. Norway defeated Brazil in a time, when Norway was an attractive opponent. Norway came to #2 on FIFA's ranking. Norway isn't an attractive opponent anymore. Thus the weird statistic is hard to make up. That said beating Brazil a few times for a non-football nation is quite a prestique. Like Brazil would beat Norway on skiies. Won't happen.

I think in general France 98 had the best jerseys in the last 20 years or more in world cups. Adidas, Nike didnt made too much generic jerseys. Its like most of countrys had a special pattern for their jerseys even unique fonts for mosts even using the same sport brand. Not like today and cinces 2002: THE SAME SHEEEETI PATTERN FOR ALL THE JERSEYS, THE SAME FONTS, ETC.

@@quentin3330 In 1993 Norway was ranked nr.2 on the FIFA ranking, though fairly short if I remeber correctly. Denmark and Sweden has generally been the better sides compared to Norway. Sweden has been runners up in the WC and finished 3rd twice, while Denmark has won the Euros once. Finland on the other hand isn't any good, and haven't really been either.

I am from Belgium and I hope Norwegian football can enter again an age like this. I have looked in their history and can't understand what went wrong: they played the 1998 world cup and also the Euros in 2000, but then, in all of sudden, their qualification for the 2002 world cup was a total disaster. After their participation at the Euros in 2000 something must have gone wrong.

In the 90s and early 00s Norway had quality players who started for great teams all over the world but especially the premier league... Until that happens again we won't make another qualifier and the Norwegian government don't give two shits about putting money into football... We don't even allow kids to mainly focus on football until they are 16 which is waaaaaay to late

***** Italy is similar to Brazil but the difference is that Italy plays like a team of 11 players, it's rare to see an Italian player trying to go solo and do magic. Italy is 11 players that work as an team, and if one player is not playing 100%, other players on the team will cover for him, helping him out, it's a team work. they have that skills to play in such way that they make that player that have the ball good... however it is, it's not like a team build around a single player, but a team build around everybody! and that is an advantage... The other skills Italy have is that they have so many different type of players they can replace around the main core of the team, giving them ability to change tactic from match to match, and still plays with a team that can that tactic a 100% It do also help that Italy is a team of fighter's that will always run that extra mile, if it give them just a 5% bigger chance to win the match.

Chris Jones Yes, you're right, we would indeed lose to Brazil 9/10 times, I'm just saying that that number would be at most 6 or 7 times out of 10 without their star. He is THAT important. He is the one capable of breaking down every defense in the world alone. Defending against players like Bernard and Fred: Even Norway can do that.

Axel F Brazil had a bad world cup. They underperformed all the way, and was annihilated when they met real world class. They had a bad Copa America last year, out in the quarterfinals, and the friendlies they've played this year...okay at best. Brazil has players who perform well in their clubs, they are of course better than Norway, but they are not among the very best teams anymore. Argentina is way better, Uruguay, Colombia and Chile are just as good, and there are at least ten European teams that would be favorites against them. It is far from certain that they would beat us without Neymar. Probably, yes, but far from certain.

They had a bad world cup? No they had a bad game in the world cup getting trashed by germany but u cant blame that on Neymar not being there. They had a dissapointing world cup yes but remember they lost to the eventual winners. They just trashed haiti 7-0, last copa america they finished top of there group getting knocked out on penaltys in the knockout stage. There team is class they have had bad luck and what makes u think Norway a country who lost to Hungary twice will cope against such a team as brazil. It does not seem u watch football only judging them after they lost 7-1 to germany belive me Couthino, Hulk, Marcelo, Alves, David Luiz, Silva, Julio Cesar are a scary team even without neymar.

Axel F They DID have a bad world cup. They weren't convincing for a second. I don't blame Neymar, for the Germany-match, the failure was defensively, and that just shows that they aren't world class. That and the unconvincing show they put on in the rest of the tournament, barely going through. Who cares that they trashed Haiti? Haiti sucks. It says nothing. Knocked out on penalties, by Paraguay, a team that is marginally better than Norway on the ELO and FIFA-ratings. Knocked out on penalties, which means that they didn't manage to beat this Norway-class team in ordinary time. Norway did lose against Hungary, which are really bad, but we also led Italy for 70 minutes in Italy in the match before that. A match that meant everything to Italy. And what sent us out in that match? A world-class striker. Which brings me back to the point that we would lose against Brazil with THEIR world class-striker, but far from certainly against the rest of them. So yes, I stand by my statement that we would lose 6-7 times out of 10 against Brazil without Neymar. Probably, but far from certainly.

I liked and remember very well the Norway of 94 - 98, I liked the heart and the Football (air style) when Norge played vs Mexico in 94, every time they threw a ball up in the air, I trembled LOL, I always get my attention the giants Tore Andre Flo, Havard Flo, and Jostein Flo! the family is there, We want Norway to return! =)

I'm watching the World Cup qualifier between Germany and Norway right now, and I'm fine with either team winning that game. I hope that Norway qualifies for the next World Cup. Of course there is still hope. But then we have to beat Northern Ireland next month. If we lose that game, all hope for WC will be lost. It all depends on how much impact Lagerbäck can have on the team in the short amount of time he has with them though. Three years of Høgmo-football that needs to be erased from the player's minds.

Bro, not brazilian, but they do. Brazil and other South American countries always create the best players.. Pele, Ronaldo Lima, Ronaldinho, Messi, Maradona, Di Stefano, all South Americans, and the best players of their time.. Brazil has won the most World cups, Argentina twice, Uruguay has won and all the other South American countries are WC STANDARD. They always go to the knockout stage, and go far. Last WC, almost all South American teams went through to the knockout stage, despite there’s more European teams in the World Cup. South American football will always be the best way to play the game. Doesn’t matter how smart teams like Germany, Italy and Spain are, coming up with new strategies and evolving the game, South American just play the game better, they don’t need all the new game-changing, fancy tactics, as long as they have 11 players that have played since they were born in poverty, they’ll stay the best footballers for an eternity.

I remember this game.I was around 8-9 y/o I think Bebeto score at the 77ish minute. Since i thought the game was over i left and came back 10 minutes later just to be surprised. It felt bad for Morocco since they took the effort to trash Scotland, but well, a win against Brazil trully deserved the Norwegians the pass to the next round.

No it wasn't. Not only did Brazil actually try, playing with the likes of Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, Cafu, and Rivaldo. But that was also actually a legit penalty (unlike Kane's against Denmark at the Euros last summer).

I remember this game. It was me and Peppe Eng, we was reporting for TV4, we was titally drunk. But what can you do, Sweden did not attend 98 world cup.

We from Norway is perhaps far down in football but one day we come back where we were! Just look at our new star Martin Ødegård, it brings out the hope that more great talents come. But we are not as obsessed with football anymore, but is still huge fan of it and with the game. We're not really dependent even rather about being good in football, because we own the other nations in cross country skiing, almost nobody can beat us! It is perhaps not such a big international sport, but it is very big for us. We are indeed the nation who love it most too. But I promise you we will be back in football just like in cross country skiing. Nobody believed in us cross country skiing the 80s when the Swedes prevailed but we managed it and since then we have been the best in the sport!

Of course we are, the current Euro championships, and the World Cup also, is among the very most watched TV-programs every year it is played - even though Norway aren't represented! It is the by far most popular sport to watch, by far the most popular sport played, and by far the most sought-after sporting events by all TV-channels. Premier League-rights go for immense sums, Champions League also, and “El Clasico” is a household name among Norwegian fans. In 98, it was barely known. Even the low-quality Tippeligaen is watched by hundreds of thousands of people. If the enthusiasm regarding our national team is a little lower than it was back then, it is because we are not as good as we were, but trust me, Norwegians are obsessed with football. Like most of the rest of the world. Also, the national team will be back. We've had 15 bad years, but the new generation is, if not yet good enough, certainly on the rise. Martin Ødegaard is only the start...

The Norwegian people is not as obsessed with football as we once were, that is a fact.

The Norwegian national team has not been able to compete in the last international competition after the Euro 2000, but they are often in the playoffs and are not weak. Although not featured in this video, Norway beats Spain at Euro 2000. However, in the Euro 2000, like the 1994 World Cup, while earning 4 points and crying for the total score, he is in the trouble of losing the group league.

You can't take away from Norway that it was fair and square. You should learn Norway's football history during the 1990. Norway defeated Brazil twice during the 1990's. In one official match and a friendly match. 4-2 in Oslo, Norway. Norway came to #2 on FIFA ranking. What does that mean? That means Norway were capable of beating every team in this world. What more? Norway did beat every great football nation during the 1990's. It was a golden age of Norwegian football. What more? Norway did qualify for WC with sensational results. Not only did Norway qualify for WC but the goal difference were sensational and unlike any team in EUR at that time.

You don't get it, Norway is one of the few football team that have never lost against Brazil. That is the joke about. And that our homeground was an fort in our Gold era, but today... But when we meet Italy... But then it will be like us Norwegian say: well we won 70% of everything in winter games. just this year alone....
