Richie Kotzen's solo album Fever Dream showcases not only his great guitar chops but his bluesy vocal. Really like that album. Another great early glam rock album was the first The Scream album, it's got a good single called Man in the Moon.

Very cool idea and great video as always. I'm a big 80ies metal fan and don't like most of the 90ies stuff you show here. But yes Mötley Crüe was great, love John Corabi. He is so killer (saw a show here in Switzerland in a pub, he was all alone on stage with a guitar and sung and told old great stories from his life, it was phenomenal). But the albums you show from Dokken, Warrant, Def Leppard and Vince Neil are just terrible. Hated them in the 90ies and still think they are not getting better today hahaha. Also to mention the crap by Queensryche after Promised Land! Can't wait for your next video with the Thrash Metal Bands (sure about Green by Forbidden, Force Of Habit and the Metallica masterpieces of the 90ies hahaha). Cheers from Switzerland, really love your videos everytime!

Hi James!!! Cool topic and great idea for a video series too.... I have never heard that Vince Neal solo album, just knew the first one, this decade was kind of tough for many bands from the 80's trying to change and follow what was going on musically speaking. I will have to finally check a couple you have showed Poison, Motley, Extreme. cheers and be well

Excellent topic! I haven't heard any of Vince Neil's solo output, but I can imagine his voice might not be s good fit for 90s alt rock music. I eas never really interested in Poison, but you're selling that album really well :) Crüe's self-titled album is fantastic, I agree. To me, it's almost like a groove metal album. That Vince Neil album must be really terrible ranking lower than 'Slang' :D Looking forward to the thrash episode.

The Cult's album from '94 was almost laughably changed from an awesome hard rock band to an alternative band. Ian Astbury's look even changed from a hard rock star to Gavin Rossdale! But one album from an 80's band to the 90's for the better is WASP- Crimson Idol...it's the album Blackie Lawless always wanted to release, but his 80's label wanted 'shock and sex' for purpose of sales.

Motley Crue is definitely the best of this bunch! One you missed that is equally good is Skid Row's Subhuman Race. Also recorded by Bob Rock so it has a similarly powerful drum sound. And the songs are kickass, heavy, yet melodic. Fantastic stuff. It's been a while since I heard Native Tongue but I always liked it, Slang has grown on me over the years and the Dokken one is alright. Much better than the grunge inspired turd that is Shadowlife that came out after. You can't fake the real grunge sound, but they try anyway on that one. Ouch.

i'd add Winger's Pull which i think came out in 93. A band who's reputation had been destroyed by Beavis and Butthead, but Pull was a great album, a bit heavier but still very melodic stuff. Much better than the very boring In The Heart of the Young.

Right i Will tell you something that happened back then I was at a second hand record store where i saw a tape of a band named Spread Eagle, i told the woman at the counter ( Who was possibly American or Canadian by her accent) to put It on to see if i liked It She looked at the tape with disgust but that was normal back in that dreadful decade , if you were into 80s heavy metal you were outcast as a social reject, the magazines at the time ( even kerrang And metal mags) were bashing the whole decade, even artists Who were popular in the 80s were taking part in that crap. Some bands didnt get Any airplay, even Iron Maiden had to complain because Radio one refused to play them.As For These albums you mention they were mainly insincere trash that was forced upon them by the record companies in fact today they all reject those albums apart from possibly Motley Crue with the John Coraby album
