Latest Winger is excellent for sure. Also loved the new Metal Church and Overkill. Check out Follow the Blind Man by Jelusick. Simply phenomenal hard rock/metal, was my #1 in 2023 by a wide margin.

Your best of and ranking vids are always refreshing mate I lost track of cryptopsy after and then you'll beg album you make a good point about album length which I think is the issue for a lot of people with 72 seasons I was listened to a bunch of cannibal corpse over the weekend and the albums were between 38 and 43 mins perfect run time I only picked up a used copy of hard wired recently don't mind that one as it split over two discs which does make it easier to digest I think cheers mate!

That Cryptopsy album is definitely worth checking out. I would definitely prefer to listen to 2 albums around 35 minutes in length rather than a long winded 75 minute album that doesn't have the quality to justify its lengthy running time. Cheers fella

Great video. I have yet to listen to the new DM album. I'm not going to pick it up on vinyl - too expensive - but I'll grab the CD. The Metallica one is decent to me, but I'm not going to pick it up until nd hand CD copies start appearing on the market. Sounds like I need to pick up that Prong album. Same thing with the Metal Church one. Love 'Scorched'! :)

With you on the Depeche Mode album, the cd will do as the vinyl is so expensive. Latest Metallica is good but typically a bit too long. The Prong, Metal Church and Overkill albums are all stellar releases. Cheers mate

I only picked up a few 2023 releases and really have not listened to a lot of these. I will check them out and hopefully drop my need for the older stuff and pick up the newer stuff haha. I have a few of these, Metallica, Overkill and Cattle Decapitation. I want to get the new Cryptosy next and that Metal Church. Hellripper is one I still need to check out that everybody seems to like a lot. Great video James.

Glad to see you're like me brother, I can listen to everything from Journey to Blood Red Throne, it's all rock & metal to my ears, being confined to one style of metal is too limiting & boring, the Suffocation, Dying Fetus & Winger albums are just great pal, I'm in my early 50's so I'm old enough to remember the bad rap Winger received from the whole Beavis & Butthead thing plus the grunge movement, which turned out to be a short lived fad, load of cobblers that fans turned their backs on 80's mainstream rock & metal, even some of my own friends did, suddenly listening to Dio & Dokken ain't hip anymore! there's room for everything, at that time Winger released an album titled "Pull" this record was different from their previous stuff, Pull is pure gold, it's still in my top 5 favourite albums ever ! Ref the Bastard sons, I was also pissed when the last singer made an exit, his vocals were bonza, you're correct sir the new guy does deliver, a big sigh of relief ! The 80's stuff is the best, my wife & I went to see Extreme last December, they were fooking excellent, Gary Cherone is 62 & still moves like he's 22 ! & Mr. Bettencourt reminded me he is a guitar hero ! Cheers...

@@mrboulder9714 Cheers for the heads up on the Winger gig mate, unfortunately it's too far for us, my wife has a condition, any word on why it's the last UK tour, the expense is usually the culprit ! Back in 2010 we had tickets to go see them in Dudley, I fell sick the morning of the gig, we were hoping I was feeling better by the evening but nope still felt like 3 kinds of shit!!! Money down the drain & missed a great band. Cheers

Mr Boulder! Excellent pick for #1 spot. I love that album and tech death in general. It totally slams and is not too long winded as you mentioned. Unfortunately I picked it up just after my end of year list otherwise wouldve been high up on my list. Nice to see Enforced high up too. Excellent list James. 2023 was a strong year for music with some absolute gems! Good to see Overkill's 'Scorched' so high up, it's killer. Memento Mori is my number 1 album from 2023, spun it tons and I'm glad you've liked this one as well. Trust me James it's their strongest record in years, some fans even say since 'Ultra'. Definitely better than Exciter & Spirit. Dave's vocals are also some of his best since years, really good stuff that 😃😄 Cheers James 🤘

Some excellent choices in here! I gave those DYING FETUS and CRYPTOPSY albums a quick sample listen, and they're both phenomenal! Thanks for the recommendations. I feel exactly the same way about the new CANNIBAL CORPSE album, and my favorite songs are pretty much the same as yours. Yes, my thoughts exactly on the previous AUTOPSY album; it was good, but didn't blow me away. However, I'll have to give the newest album a chance, based on your description. Also keen to check out the new KK's PRIEST album, as well as TAILGUNNER! Great video, mate!

Strong list there James. I'll give that Cryptopsy a listen, it passed me by that one ditto Mammoth. Ripper owens is on top form on the KK album, a good follow up. Gama Bomb is another good one.

Great list James. Of course a couple here that you won't find in my collection, without saying any band names, hehe. Suffocation made a excellent album. Nice to see Overkill so high, they deserve it. The new Dying Fetus did not grab me at all, and Enforced is a band I can't get into it seems. Have not listened to the new Cryptopsy yet, need to do something about that soon......

Nice list James! I haven't watched too many 2023 albums videos because I just haven't been too interested. But I was interested to see your list. I like the Cannibal Corpse and Overkill, they're the only ones I've heard from your list. Some like the Prong, Suffocation and Enforced I would like to check out at some point. But honestly, as the years go by I'd much rather put my time into catching up with older stuff than checking out new albums. Only bands I know well I'll check out their new album, or if I hear it on a video. Maybe in years to come I'll come back to some of these albums 😊🤘🏻

I totally agree with your thoughts on Metallica's latest releases, they should know to just put the songs needed and nothing more, need to listen to Gama Bomb and the new Metal Church. I saw Phil Campbell and the bastard sons last summer at a festival and they where quite good. I would actually also be of the opinion that I prefere Affair of the poison slightly, slightly more than Warlocks but that being said Warlocks is a real killer too. Nice to watch your list James, you do an awesome job as always! Cheers!

Some bangers in here James, Horrendous, Autopsy, Prong (glad I made you wanna pick it up!). Cannibal Corpse is great,. I kinda lost interest in Cattle Decapitation a few records ago. Hellripper never made my list.... The Suffocation is fucking great. Glad I picked it up, even if I was late! Kinda lost interest in Dying Fetus a few records ago. I need to give Enforced a listen..the shit band name logo put me off haha!! Cryptopsy is a fucking weapon. They still got it. Wish I'd bought the vinyl. Great stuff James!!

After Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decap, and Suffocation, I have to admit I was NOT expecting Winger. Hard disagree on Metallica, but I'm one of those insufferable types who stopped listening after Justice, so for all I know 72 Seasons was better than the two singles I checked out. Did you say this is your first go-around with Cattle Decapitation? If so, I highly recommend starting with Karma Bloody Karma and working your way forward. They just keep getting better right until you get back to Terrasite, esp. Harvest Floor and Monolith.
