Музыка

Today I'm taking a look at 7 albums released within 44 days of each other back in 1991 and ranking them from my least favourite to my absolute favourite. No bad albums here so even the album that comes on at last place is still a banger.
Those albums being
Metallica - Metallica
Guns N Roses - Use Your Illusion 1 & 2
Pearl Jam - Ten
Nirvana - Nevermind
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger

Yes I've been saying for years that 1991 was an absolutely huge year for rock music for this exact reason.

What a year that was boulder mate. That’s the year I went full on metal! Started going to gigs my first was Motörhead and Saxon at Hammersmith odeon. Guns and roses were my band back then. Played them every day for a year at least! Special memories. Actually met them down kings road Chelsea the day I saw them at Wembley Stadium with soundgarden and faith no more. Great video James mate. 33 years ago mate! Damn

This stuff is my bread n butter. Something people seem to forget is Ten was PJs debut album, it's gotta be up there with the best debuts of all time.

That Soundgarden album is the only one I still listen to occasionally. Incredible. The Black album was a huge disappointment. 1. Badmotorfinger 2. Use Your Illusion I 3. Use Your Illusion II 4. Blood Sugar Sex Magic 5. Metallica 6. Nevermind 7. Ten

Good idea for a video this one. I just looked on Wiki. Seems No More Tears was also released within those days too. I played all those albums hundreds of times back then.

Cheers Mike. 91 was such a great year. Probably Death Metal's best year and still some excellent Glam coming out towards the end of its life span too. Played all these to death too as well

I would add *Europe's 'Prisoners in Paradise'* to this list - it was released one week after Use your Illusion and it sold one million in total. It is a criminally underrated album and would have been much bigger, if it wasn't for the grunge takeover. It is very well produced, go and check it out if you dont know it!

Awesome video, those albums hold many great memories. I was just being my Junior year in High School in 1991 and all these albums was basically my soundtrack back then. Great ranking, I agree with every position you have ranked these in.

Really cool idea for a video. Lots of good memories for me associated with most of those albums. Not a massive fan of Nirvana myself, butI do love 'Bleach' and 'Nevermind'. I have a very ambivalent relationship with the black album: on the one hand I love it because it's so simple and accessible but on the other hand I've always been very disappointed in it because because the songs are simple and slow compared to previous releases.

Great review , my favorite all time vocalist is Chris Cornel so I am biased for Soundgarden , love the Black album sure Metallica was going in a different direction but I think it’s great , GNR is musically a fantastic album but I just never was into Axl’s vocals but that first was groundbreaking for sure , cheers from USA Mr Boulder 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 👍🏻

Great idea for a video, Mr B. Out of these seven, I would probably pick Ten at number 1 just ahead of the Black album. I do love the black album, but at the time, Pearl Jam were a breath of fresh air from all the thrash I was listening to. The only 1 of these I don't have is the RHCP one, but I was never really a fan.

I prefer Use Your Illusion 2 to 1 but I remember my mate at the time liked 1 better. Agree that Estranged is excellent and I like Civil War too. Nevermind, Ten and the Black Album are excellent they all remind me of Uni. 10 Commandments by Malevolant Creation was released in this period too. Also Testimony of the Ancients by Pestilence.

Congrats on not listening to the critics and putting the Black Album where it belongs. What’s notable about these albums (besides Use Your Illusion) is that they represent each band at their commercial and artistic peak. 6. Use Your Illusion I&II 5. Ten 4. Blood Sugar 3. Nevermind 2. Black Album 1. Badmotorfinger

Ok, this is a cool idea. 1. Metallica - Metallica 2. Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion 1 3. Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion 2 4. Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger 5. Pearl Jam - Ten 6. Nirvana - Nevermind 7. Red Hit Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik It's funny, almost everyone agrees that the Illusion albums have a ton of filler. But other than My World and the alternate Don't Cry, there seems to be no general consensus as to what the filler is. Cheers!

Cool idea and so cool to see this albums, had no idea about the release dates, such big records all in just 44 days....I really think you're right about RHCP after "Blood Sugar....." it all went down, they became a lame an boring band, but to me i think Soundgarden should be higher maybe at N°3 and might be the only one i still listen.... cheers and be well

Great video. My favorite Black album track nowadays is Through The Never. I have both Use Your Illusion Illusion albums. I spin em once in a while. Favorite tracks from those are November Rain and Estranged. I lost interest in Grunge and the Chilis a long time ago.

Thanks for the video… very interesting list. Ironically, after RHCP released What Hits?! in 1992 (which was excellent), they started producing hit songs for radio… that generally sucked 🤔 As for the Black album, I don’t rate it highly not because the band decided to do something different. From the first listen on its release to this day, I still don’t hate it, but don’t love it either. It has a lot of filler for me, apart from the really strong tracks like Sad But True, Holier Than Thou, The Unforgiven and Enter Sandman. Pound for pound doesn’t hold up compared to BadMotorFinger or even Nevermind for me.

I am going to be extremely boring here, but the Black Album is no where near any of the GNR albums. I'm an old school Metallica fan, adore the first 4 albums, but the black album has no epic track, no long lasting tracks like Illusions do. The black Album is generic as fuck.
