I do like the 4-Tec but this weight issue is a huge problem in my book.. Let me know your thoughts below. Does it matter to you?

You make valid points but the weight segment felt like a really weak argument. Its hard to argue "only 2 pounds difference" when in reality the infraction is 63% heavier. Context is everything.

Weight is important to keep the car stable controllable. Light weight will make it out of control and feel like a cheap toy. I prefer heavy cars of course provide it have the right setup

The 4tec is meant as a box stock class for onroad racing, not speed runs. So you know...

The RS4 sport is even worse with the pebbles. It was almost undrivable

Take the battery out and weigh it. The total weight all depends on the battery so take that out of the equation.

I have the snapon edition 4tec and every time I take it out rocks end up locking up the servo. Doesn’t take much just a little pebble

I had a 4Tec but, I ended up selling it. I prefer the Kyosho Fazer MK2 kit chassis.

I had a nitro 4tec probably 12-15 years ago. Back then they were still using a metal chassis.

Cool video and some useful info since i might be buying a 2nd one i had a Ford GT model before i traded it away with a couple other cars for an X-Maxx. But this time i might get another brushed one and mod it into a VXL one or get a VXL one from the start. I currently have an XO-1 and a Rlaarlo AK-917 carbon chassis version.

What tires are you using? Can you keep it straight using the stock tires? I've seen some just spin in circles when it's up to speed...

I don't know if you reply to comments often but I had a question I can't really seem to find online. I was looking at buying a 4 Tec 2.0 but one of the common criticisms I've seemed to find is that the rear wheel offset isn't standard without using the stock wheels. From what I can tell from your video (I don't currently know a lot about the car so I may be wrong) you aren't using the stock wheels but it seems like your front and rear track width is the same? From my understanding the 4 Tec 1.0 had the same offset front and rear, but the 2.0 doesn't. I've seen one video on KZread of someone removing the rear hex's and adding wider hexes from a Stampede, but apparently that doesn't give enough width to allow standard touring wheels on the rear. I can't really see a lot of people commenting on the issue but I guess that's because this chassis isn't raced, and if it is, it seems to be with stock setups. I'm just curious what my wheel and tire options would be before I buy one, so I managed to find this "issue" before I bought anything thankfully. What did you do to the rear of your car to widen it if I may ask?

Considering you have a huge battery in it, that likely adds almost another pound, but gives you no more voltage, only longevity. A stock 3s 5000mah battery is MORE than enough, especially if you’re doing speed runs. I have NO idea why you’d have that big battery in there, if you were complaining about weight. You’re not gonna go any faster with 6700mah of 11.1v than you will with 5000mah of 11.1v.
