WHAT'S THE BEST DRIVER'S CAR? AUTOCAR'S 2021 HOT HATCH SHOOTOUT!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If you want a fun car for not loads of money, what's your best option? That's what Autocar's contest, Britain's Best Affordable Driver's Car, intends to answer every year. Welcome to the 2021 edition.
We've got six driver's cars to test. Five are practical everyday hatchbacks that also aim to please while they're at it, and they're all new for 2021.
The newest of them all is the Hyundai i20 N. It takes on the Ford Puma ST, the latest Volkswagen Golf R, a Cupra Leon 300, and a BMW 128ti.
Then there's our wildcard, the Caterham Super Seven 1600.
The cars' prices run from under £25,000 to nearly £40,000, and we've driven to the greatest roads in Britain to help us decide. We're in the Highlands: but there can be only one (see what we did there). Full specifications below!

My outright favourite here is the Golf R, but considering they cost more than 40K with options, the i20N is the moral victor. Looks good, drives great and has a manual! That's the kind of 'hot hatch' you'd want to daily.

I love both of these GR products that Akio san got involved with, but I think most people here will only be interested in 0-60 times and 1/4 mile numbers, so the GR86 may be sadly ignored. I hope both cars get the attention and praise they deserve by car enthusiasts.

I can understand the word "affordable" for i20N and puma, however golf r is nowhere close to the meaning of this word. Also, you compare golf r vs 128ti and i20N, I mean... @Andrew yeah he's just saying this video seems a bit detached from reality. that disgusting 1 series Bmw starts at 44k€ in my country, that's not affordable at all. The i20N costs "only" 25k, that's what you would actually call affordable. Mid-class citizens don't want to spend 44k on a useless ugly small hatchback. Looking at the cars I instantly knew which one had won, fast forward, was right, checking out now. You might be right that this is a reasonable comparsion, but in that case my domestic (German) brands showed up with a knife to a battleship fight.

The Honda varadero 125 is a good bike for tall people. And it looks and feels like a much bigger bike. If you're just looking for something to commute on with less maintenance and more practicality then the Honda pcx 125 scooter would be my recommendation. 125 cc geared bikes require a lot of great changes just to reach legal speeds, and you have less wind protection and a chain that will need cleaning and adjusting. But you would be better riding a geared 125 bike if you intend on passing your A2 or DAS full licence.

@@llama_wehraboo7274 Any reason why you want to take your A2? With a CBT you can ride for 2 years on L plates but without the ability to use motorways. If you're 19 years old + then take the A2 as you're not restricted to a 125, but you will be limited to 47 BHP which is enough for British roads, but you will need a CBT or A1 with some experience before getting onto a bigger bike. If you're 24 then you can take the DAS (direct access route) which will allow you to ride any motorcycle without any restrictions.
