What's more important than looking good?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I always thought that if I have the body that I wanted, I would be happy.
That every time I took off my shirt or every time I look in the mirror, I would feel good about myself.
I was wrong.
I learned that what’s more important than having a great looking body is the way we feel inside. Are we feeling joy and happiness every day when we wake up and looking forward to the day OR are we always bogged down with worries and stress so much that it seems normal?
I use to think it's normal to be stressed every day, to have constant worries. That's just life.
Now I have a different take on life.
I now realize that there is another way to live. And that we can wake up every morning feeling excited and happy for the day to come. It starts off by getting rid of the stress and fear that’s inside of our body.
The emotional baggage that is inside of our bodies will always make us feel negative emotions and that becomes our normal point of view.
People think they have a reason to get mad, get worried, get jealous, get stressed, but what they don’t realize is that all reasons are made up.
We may not be able to change everything that is happening in our life, but we can choose how to respond to them. When we get rid of those emotions from our body, our perspective of life starts to change.
We may still deal with things in our life, but we won’t stress about it and get angry about things as easily anymore.

Get in the best shape of your life
And become 1% happier each day

Hi, Mike. I have bought your program before which was really good. I'm glad you are back with much more wisdom in your words and you are on the next level. I totally agree with you that when I was chasing "big tough body" dream and I did lots of workouts, but I realize that pushing out body too hard isn't the best way to go and it could impact on emotions and other things as well. I support your ideas and I wish you can come out more awesome stuff like this. Good to have you back, Mike.

This is a great version of Mike Chang. I feel like I am aging in wisdom along with him. I stopped lifting heavy weights a few years ago after shoulder labral tear and just chronic neck and back pain. Now I exercise to release stress and tension, focus more on health related exercise instead of just strength. I was hard as a rock, but little by little getting more limber and loose, to be able to stretch and stay injury free

Mike I can relate to this on every level, former bodybuilder who has found a new perspective in training and a better outlook on lifestyle, its true that feeling good about oneself comes from within, the days of constantly looking in the mirror and looking for validation from others is a thing from the past. I now look for the t-shirt and jeans look- feeling fresh and healthy in mind, body and soul.

yes, you're right! the problem with bodybuilding is that you always want more, you desire more than you have. And that makes you feel bad and disappointed. So the hardest thing is to accept your actual body, without comparing to others Also working out allow you to know yourself, because you suffer. The better thing that I develop while working out was my mental toughness. Now I can do anything!

I agree wholeheartedly. Ive been into "being biggg" all the damn time, always about heavy lifts and being super strong, i just didnt care much about have a 2 pack instead of a 6 pack... untilllll i stepped on a treadmill and started running .... i couldnt run too far, i could barely breathe, i felt so humiliated and felt uncomfortable... Running made me feel a LOT better, fast pace running, lot distance running.... the way i inhale air into my lungs after about 5-10 minutes of running makes me feel so good and healthy. Its great. I feel more fit.

I stopped bodybuilding because i based my happiness and self esteem on how big I was and the size of my muscles....if i wasnt prevailing the way i wanted i was not happy and frustrated. Also my joints were always hurting and my flexibility sucked. I workout with calisthetic s....I lost alot of excess bulk and gained lean hardness....oh my joints feel better and my flexibility has improved and now i dont base my mood and outlook on my muscle gains...instead now i feel better...still in good shape...have more energy and a better appreciation of the more important things in life rather than worried about counting macros and lifting heavy and wearing my body down.

Hi Mike.. I am from India and I like the philosophy you shared in this video.. In traditional indian workout culture where yoga plays a major role, this kind of philosophy is mentioned.. I followed your sixpackabsshortcut channel earlier and saw some of your home based workout videos. But in this channel you just mentioned the ultimate goal of workout.. Love your new channel.. Thank you..
