I read a Fr . Hardin book this morning. It’s about meditations on the Real Presence.

Oh these unboxings are always so fun & interesting. I always love seeing the older books & you definitely had a few. I think I'd need to read Fr. Pacwa's because I've been feeling the frustration. The Yukon River ice started moving out yesterday!! It's so exciting. Thank you so very much for being with us !

@@MargaretUIUC Thank you. A happy, blessed spring to you. It's just so exciting at this time of year where we continue our hunting & gathering and give thanks to Our Lord for our surviving the winter and for bringing us to a new season.

Ok, so I am really late to the party this time! Life for me has been a whirlwind! These books are so interesting. A real mixed bag. What a find with the four volume set of the City of God. Those sets sell for a lot online, and the ones in the bin look like they are in excellent condition. I love going through boxes like that of anything that could be vintage. I remember when my Mom passed away and I had to pack up and go through all her things. I found such lovely treasures, including some old Catholic books from the 1800s she had collected. Really neat stuff. God bless you both. You always make my day when you share one of your lovely videos! ❤

Thank you so much! We're always so happy to know that a viewer is enjoying our videos :) I am not sure we have ever come across a book from the 1800's (so far)- that would be such a neat find. God bless your mom for saving them for you

2:04 It’s a blessing to have discovers your channel. Concerning Thomas Merton you might look at Catholic Answers May 1, 2008 issue, available online, “Can you Trust Thomas Merton”, about Merton’s thoughts and writings. The author lists at the end Recommended readings and those to Read with Caution.

I remember back when I was a small child, the librarians at our city library would paste the summary of the book from the front dust jacket flap and the author information from the back dust jacket flap into the back inner cover. It was their way of preserving the information, because they knew the dust jacket wouldn't survive for long. The rest of the dust jacket would be discarded. Later they used clear cellophane covers over the dust jacket. I guess either the cellophane wasn't available early on or it was too expensive at first. (I'm showing my age here . . .) There must have been a whole contingent of librarians who followed this protocol at some point. PS--I think you should read the 4-volume set of the City of God. 😁

Lol, Margaret- we will if you join us. We have read parts of it but never the whole thing. We do see a fair number of books with the DJ as you described. It makes sense they did it that way... but we need to have a moment of silence for all the dust jackets that are no more.

When I was in college I worked at the library and pasted the summary of the book and author information in the book and later put the cellophane cover over the dust jacket. My son bought me the 4 volume City of God, but have not started reading the first volume.

I have a paperback version of St. Mary of Agreda’s City of God that I’ve been going through these last few years. Still on Vol. 1. I underline with pencil & make notes in it. I’ve been working on the Didache Vol. 1 series too. We don’t use it in Canada, so it was a great find for me last fall. I love learning about Blessed Maria Teresa of St. Joseph who began the order of Carmelites that live in my Southern Ontario region. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Teresa_of_St._Joseph
