What's In My Wallet for 2021 | Every Day Carry

Looking ahead at 2021 and seeing what's in my wallet! We talk about the credit cards I use, best beginner credit cards, and the random things in my wallet that I carry every day.

Best Beginner Card Setup:
1. The Citi Double Cash. This is a classic card, and one of my favorites to encourage young credit card users to get because of how darn SIMPLE IT IS. It's literally 2% cash back - 1% when you buy, and 1% when you pay off your balance. That's it, that's literally it guys. No annual fee as usual, and it's straight up one of the easiest cards to comprehend. There are also no foreign transaction fee.
2. Chase Sapphire Preferred.
I would not recommend this card to someone who is COMPLETELY new to credit cards and has no income, but if you do already have a credit card or two, or you're a working Zoomer and like to travel (especially once all this coronavirus is over), this is one of the best rewards cards that are out there.
The annual fee on this card is $95 - so, what does it get you?
Here are the reasons why - first of all, the crazy signup bonus of 80,000 points when you spend $4000 in the first 3 months - for thsoe of you who do not know, basically 1 credit card point is roughly equivalent to 1 cent. So 80k points is worth about $800 in rewards.
You get 2x points on travel and dining, that means if you spend $100 on dining, you'll get 200 points, which is worth about 2% cashback in the form of points.
If you use your points on travel, you get a multiplier on the points, so you can get more for your points if you use it on travel - obviously not so relevant now, but a good thing to bank it in later.
Of course you get all the perks of the CSP including point transfer to airlines, travel protection, a 24/7 access to customer support and no foreign transaction fees.
Overall this is one of the best credit cards to have in your wallet, hands down, and is known as the best travel card, ever!
3. Chase Freedom Flex/Unlimited
Next up we have the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card! This bad boy is, again, free to own - no annual fee, and gives you a $200 bonus just for signing up for the card and spending $500 in the first 3 months.
Now, before you rage at me for suggesting that you need to hit a $500 in spend, I want to say that I would only suggest this card to people that have monthly spending they already do.
So whether its your phone bill, groceries, car insurance, christmas gifts, whatever - make sure that when you do apply for this card that you are expecting to spend around $166 a month to get this cash back.
Strategically plan when you open this card, because if it's spending you were already going to make, then getting a $200 bonus for just opening a card is a pretty good deal, that's 40% cash back on spending you were going to do already.
Not only that, you'll get 5% cash back on grocery store purchases, 5% on any travel through their Chase portal, 3% back on dining, 3% on drugstore, and 1.5% cash back on all other purchases.
This card is just amazing, because you are getting a lot back for the spend that you may already do.

  • @andrewkinger1
    @andrewkinger13 жыл бұрын

Kind of a late comment but when you talked about the Gold Card, why did you decide not to discount the fact that a no annual fee card gives 2% for all categories? In my opinion, to look at 'cash back rewards' of the Amex, it should be 4x on dinning - 2x because something like the citi double cash would be giving you 2% thus from a spend perspective, you are paying the annual fee for an additional 2% in those categories.

Been on the hunt for my next credit card once I have more of an income to spend, so that was nice. I have to say, in 4 years of just responsibly using 2 credit cards for all purchases, I've racked up an almost 800 credit score at age 22! I try to explain to my peers the value of that but they don't listen.
