Since military members can get the annual fee waived for most of these cards I immediately applied for the platinum, blue cash preferred, and gold. I'm chilling with the benefits and value these cards bring to me and my family 🫡🇺🇲 I was scared of using credit cards I got mine at 19 but when I watched you and another guy on KZread said all this great stuff about them I decided to start applying for 1 every year since then.

I have been on the credit journey for less than a year now..I have 10 cards. They pretty much all serve a purpose in a larger strategy. Pretty much have what I need right now to cover all of life's expenses with a 1.5-5x return (except for new Bilt for 1x on rent). Tempting to get a few more cards just to expand available credit and lower utilization further, but know they'd get little use beyond the initial sign up spend. Definitely liked the thrill of learning and stacking them (and enjoying some of the benefits and free travel already), but also know it is probably best to garden for awhile.

@@marcusyoung5440 Hahah I don't think there's a help line for that. Luckily I made a video on it though 🤣 My summarized answer is... get ready for it... it depends! It really all depends on how much you can handle without being overwhelmed. Most every credit card lender will have specific rules about the max amount of cards/credit limits you can have with them, but if you're still getting approved for cards then there isn't anything to stress about yet. Just never overspend or miss any payments is my main advice!

I currently have a 3 card set up, the Blue Cash Preferred, Chase Freedom Unlimited and the Costco Visa Card. Works pretty well and my thought behind it was I can always get the Gold Card at a later date when I see myself spending more on food when either I get a girlfriend or family, as I am single right now. So for my spending habits, it just makes sense for me to get the Gold later. I dont travel too much other than 2ish times a year at most domestically, so it doesnt make sense, but I am open to it in the future and maybe by then AMEX would have refreshed or updated the card with better perks or benefits. If not, I might look at the Capital One Venture X as my first high end card

John, call and ask if amex has an upgrade bonus for you on the everyday. I called last minute, literally at the point that I needed to spend 4k last, and they upgraded mine to everyday preferred. I had to pay the $95 annual fee but they gave me 40k MR for a $4k spend. I will just downgrade mine to an everyday next year. But because of all the bonuses I've been getting on it, including the 5x Amazon bonus during Christmas and their 50% bonus when you do 30 transactions, for two whole months, I had put groceries on it 3x normally but with the 50% boost it was 4.5x on groceries, and on Amazon that 5x turned to 7.5x Well worth the annual fee for those and the 40k. I will downgrade unless they can continue to provide these offers/bonuses. It's made me bank!
