Ravel is proof in why psychology is such a monumental part of top tier sport. Such a talented man, but if he had a bit more self belief, and a better environment he could have achieved so much. @@Edge81 honestly I think a club counselor/life coach can set people into a contructive mindset that can lead people down a path where they're more likely to look after themselves. Sure, one or two people putting an arm round the shoulder is nice, but then you switch club and you're back at square one. That's why I think psychology gives us the more sustainable answer. A good psyche, and feeling of self worth that allows you to make good choices because you're a person who deserves nice things to happen to, that stays with you. There's a lot of sorrow still in that young man's eyes, and it's sad to see.

Don’t feel sorry for him. He’s made a career of his potential at Manchester United. Don’t know what his agent is telling the clubs who take a punt on him, but he’s one hell of a salesman if he’s managed to sell his client to these clubs. He hasn’t done it in his career, and he’s had 11 clubs in 11 years. Personally feel he’s stealing a living, and for the life of me can’t understand why any club out there feels that they can get the best out of him when it hasn’t happened up to now. It’s in his nature to be the way he is.

great interview! a cab driver told me a story about Rav. Rav paid the cab driver to take him shopping, asked the driver to wait for him, and four hours later came back and paid for waiting time. cab driver said he'd take Ravel all over as he didn't drive. Cab man said, Ravel Morrison is the nicest person. He is the 'Robin Friday' of the premier league. A truly mythical figure. I wish him well.

I came from a really awful background and an extremely turbulent and traumatic childhood. I see myself in Ravel Morrison. Chaos was his normality, his self confidence was there but out of necessity because inside he's hollow and doesn't truly value himself. It takes a lot to become a rounded person from that start. What you can see in Ravel as a grown man now though is that all the bravado and aggression has left him and he's a shy and timid person when out of his comfort zone - like in front of the media as he says here. Good luck and all the best for the future Rav, lad. I'd love to meet him one day to get to listen to his stories. Jamie Vardy is completely different. He applied himself and worked hard at Fleetwood and took his big chance with Leicester with both hands. Ravel has been given the chance by eleven clubs now in eleven years and not proved to a single person that he’s good enough to make it. Ado Den Haag terminated his contract after three months. Ravel is an absolute joke, and interviews like this manipulate people into thinking he’s misunderstood and has had bad luck. He’s stole a living and only has himself to blame. How many other players out there have been given this many chances and still manage to screw it up?

Allardyce hasn’t ruined Ravels career. Ravel has done that to himself. Eleven clubs in eleven years, and you’re seriously sat there blaming someone else other than Morrison for this? He hasn’t got the intellect to understand that talent alone isn’t enough. He hasn’t applied himself throughout his career, hence so many clubs getting rid of him after they’ve put their faith in him. Why do people like you give Ravel a free pass and treat him like a victim? He’s taken the cowards way out and yet is still managing to steal a living. His agent is doing absolute wonders by getting this guy clubs - he’s let every one of them down so far. Would any other career choice give you eleven different chances to prove yourself?

One of the most fascinating interviews I've ever heard with a footballer. Off the back of this I hope clubs and the leagues look at themselves to see what more they can do to help younger players coming up. To think that Ravel was having genuine issues getting into training (as nobody at home that drives) and a big club like Manchester united can't help with that is disgusting. If a young player has the talent to be part of the youth setup of any big club, these clubs should be doing everything to ensure that those from a low income background don't have these struggles. As a united fan it doesn't sit right with me that on one hand we'll fly to London by private jet, or even fly new signings in by helicopter...but on the other hand they completely failed (and may well be continuing to fail) their young players who have genuine transport issues in terms of getting to training. Even turning up on his bike, I bet he was too tired to train! The leagues also really need to look into clubs/managers pressuring players into changing agents for their own financial gain. Maybe that's a harder one to resolve but it's not right. Rio it would be great to here other stories from footballers that have delt with similar issues to Ravel. Even those that may be less known. Only once more stories like this are told will things change to the benefit of the next generation of kids coming through different clubs.

@@chrisbell6001 Oh look - more excuses. Eleven teams have given him the chance to kick start his career, and he’s let every one of them down. Ado Den Haag terminated his contract after 3 months, yet there you are saying ‘he’s not a 17 year old, he’s a man’. He has the mentality of an imbecile. Doesn’t know how to apply himself whatsoever, no matter how many chances that come his way, and still the apologists class him as misunderstood. Making excuses for this waste is pathetic.

Hands down the best interview I've ever seen. Ravel came across really well and really humble, a victim of circumstances. Definitely not the character that has been portrayed for years in the press. I wish him all the best for rest of his career.

So sad. The only person that didn't quite appreciate just how good Ravel was, was Ravel. I still watch his clips and wonder what could have been. Good luck Ravel. I hope you find a team to settle in, so we can all watch and appreciate your talent again.

It’s crazy to hear how highly people who played/trained with him rated him but he didn’t back himself. He had no idea how good he was and that he could break through in the team. He never had the physiological make up to make it and that needs to be studied. Good luck to him, in life as a whole.

Unfortunately 90% of society doesn’t realize their own potential either. We’d be in the future if everyone would just calm down, talk it all out, and move on to better things. It’s a sad cycle.

I don't know man, self-doubt is so natural in so many people. He's a young kid at a team in its peak which is competing to be the best in the world. Of course he's going to doubt that the focus is on him. He said himself that none of the first team coaches really told him how good he was directly. All it would have taken is a few words from Mick Phelan or a few of the other coaches. Some affirmation and guidance early on could have drastically altered the course of his career.

It’s all Sams fault that he’s been given a chance at ELEVEN clubs in as many years and all of those clubs have deemed him not good enough to offer a proper contract to? Blaming others for Ravels inability to apply himself and give the commitment to his career that his talent deserves is pathetic. He only has himself to blame - stop giving him the easy way out by sympathising with him.
