Praise God for giving us RC Sproul, the technology to archive and broadcast his teaching, and the Word he taught from!

He has a way of holding his audience glued to every word he says. What a beautiful gift from an awesome God.

He is so correct about the truth! I was living a lie for over 50 years. I went missing for 10 days and within those 10 days I found out what the truth really was. It was all inside me waiting to bubble up to the surface. Jesus rescued me from the lie that I told myself over and over. Now, I have a relationship with him and also will be going to live in eternity. Thanks be to God! All glory goes to him!

Thank you God for bringing me to the beauty that is the teaching of Sproul, he has been gifted with an incredible mind for conveying the Gospel.

It's amazing just how fine this sermon has aged. In fact, it's more important now than ever. With the impressions we get from IG, FB, SC and all the other social media outlets, we need to hear this now more than ever.

Very vigorous in logic and reason in the ilk of the greek philosphers....a bit heady but at least because of him and god no one can say the church is stupid! sproul gave them a heavenly punch in the nose! if you know what i mean???

This man was a gift from God. RIP, valued, much respected preacher.

When I first met Dr. Sproul he looked like he does here in this video, he was 33 and I was 18. He became for me what he has become for so many, a spiritual father. I doubt we will ever see his like again in our lifetime. I struggle to remind myself that RC was but a mere man and that it is God alone who deserves my undying devotion. I still hold such deep genuine affection for my dear RC.

@@taylordw From time to time in my life, which is now going on 68 years, I was blessed to visit with Dr. Sproul. I always had his undivided attention. Never once did I see RC looking over my shoulder anticipating the question or comment of another person. This endeared me to him, I treasure those moments.

Amen to his preaching. I thank the Lord Jesus who always lead me to such wonderful men like him. May the Lord help me to mek use of His true truth I am coming across thru His servant Sproul and others out there like Derek Prince. This man's souls is with the Lord I can see. That's my view.

Interesting, the comments on impressions is more relevant than ever. Sproul is such a blessing!

Powerful, clear, indisputable message. I am 74 years old. I have been a Christian for more than half of those years and had not looked at that passage the way Sproul laid it out. The message has challenged me to read Scripture diligently.

God bless RC Sproul, we thank you God for giving us this Saint of yours to help us fellow Christians.

Amen Patricia ! Please remember that JESUS will is to keep His Followers here, through Tribulation like we now see - to be used in Glorifying Him & fulfilling the Great Commission. Matt 28:18-20 - and that happens as He's seated on God's right Hand, pouring out the Holy Spirit, converting us & defeating His Enemies. This is laid out in Psalm 2 & 110 most clearly & confirmed in Acts 2 Peter's Pentecost message. See also 1 Corinthians 15 Only then will He return once the Gospel Triumph of the Nations is concluded. This is referred to as "The Puritan Hope" aka Postmillennial Thought. Dr Sproul came to this view from about 1998 onwards. For in-depth teaching with RC Sproul on this topic I commend his "Last Days, according to JESUS" 12 part series to you. Coming to peace on this issue has saved much "Prophetic Heartache" that we suffered under Dispensationalism, which was endlessly & erroneously predicting Rapture, 2nd Coming & Antichrist season after season. Which predictions once failed, bring disrepute upon God's WORD and cause many to fall away Thanks for hearing this encouraging Word - may you be blessed in JESUS forever....

It is an amazing message on truth. Jesus came into this world mainly to bear witness to the truth is beautifully emphasised by R. C. Sproul. Because the truth was a major casualty at that time. In spite of being a king , Pilot asked this simple question , What is truth.? Even though he was standing in front of the truth. But he gives a correct judgement about Jesus innocence. Thanks to the ministry.

Anyone know when this originally aired? It is truly reaffirming to see how well truth and wisdom age over time.

Absolutely the Best always. Listen read books he has written take notes on all his sermons. Love him.

We can't search for truth, and at the same time, claim to know truth. The search for truth keeps us moving ... while claiming to know truth brings us to a halt in the egotistical mindset of, "I have arrived at my destination, so I don’t have to search any farther." Maybe it’s best to believe that truth (if it even exists) is always one step ahead of us.

Wonderful. I also recognize the painting behind him, The Gleaners.

Pilate looked truth right in the face and asked what is truth. We all have to ask ourselves this question. May we realize that God is Truth. It isn't a subjective idea relevant to one person's opinion, but is an objective truth. God is Truth.

I truly am defistated by this man's passing. When I was at my lowest in my life concerning the life of my daughter I tried to reach out to him for his advice as what to do only to be told that he had passed away. I was so deeply disturbed about this news that I was deeply overwhelmed because I knew that if there was an answer to my dilemma that he would be able to give me some helpful advice. I was so saddened by that news that I was deeply concerned About what I should do!!!! Thanks be to God my savior that I somehow learned the answer to my dilemma from Jesus and his holy spirit. I sincerely regret his passing, but I know of his teaching. In my honest opinion he was a great man of God and I still listen to his messages of the truth of God. I believe that he was a true man of God

That's what I always do when I read the scriptures especially when it comes to King David it's as if I was there literally

“People should be called by what they want to be called, lest we insult their dignity.” - RC Sproul, What Is Truth? RC Sproul passed away in 2017, but if he were still alive in 2023, I would be interested to hear how he would qualify that statement in light of transgenderism.

Like poverty and hunger is real but it happens in different shapes and forms depending on the circumstances and the country where you happened to live.

Does anyone know the date that he actually preached this? Not just posted up on KZread? I’m not asking with a negative tone, the older the date, the more it proves the point that these men of God’s wisdom have BEEN telling us the truth and been showing us our future by showing us the truth of God’s Word.

I used to consider Pilate the 1st postmodernist for having contempt for truth, but now think he was coming around to believing Jesus - nevertheless his deep seated corrupt political pragmatism was stronger than his recent inklings of insight

As Dr. Sproul pointed out - truth is not relative. There is no such thing as "truth in my life" - which would be different than, "truth in your life". Truth is what corresponds to reality. The "true truth" as Schaefer said.

John 18:37 is ambiguous. It might be translated, "You say that I'm a king."

Mathematics is the ultimate truth reflected in nature and the whole universe and in every day 😊 life.

People like RC just don't get the purpose of relative truth. The relativity of truth is not necessarily opposed to the idea of objective truth. The relative truth is bad if it is selfish, when it refuses to fellowship with other relative truths in an attempt to reconcile them with itself to create a larger truth. I have my perspective. You have yours. Others have theirs. These are our relative truths. They are close to us. They are our reality. But it would be a tragedy, it would be shameful, it would be sinful if these various perspectives didn't somehow get together and through a process of discussion, argument, and analysis form a new, tentative approximation of final truth. Since this approximation isn't final, new perspectives must be added. This process continues indefinitely until the objective, total, final truth of God (reality) is reached, if ever.

What is truth Pilate said that The holy spirit will guide and teach Not the pastor!

I think Sproul was way off base on this one. That black woman who spoke at his class was speaking for all blacks when she said they dont like being called colored and preferred negro? And Sproul says you should call people by what they wish to be called? Would he stand by that when it comes to the ridiculous gender pronouns people are spouting today? I get to choose how I refer to someone. It's not an attack on someone's dignity if I refuse to call a man a WOMAN.

I don't think he was off base at all actually. Both "colored" and "negro" are terms which have historically and linguistically been applied to the same people group. Not at all the same as "man" and "woman" which are terms which have historically and linguistically been applied to two mutually exclusive people groups. Whether someone calls themselves a black person, a negro or a colored person, they are still referring to themselves as belonging to the same people group. So their statement "I'm black" or "I'm negro" both correspond to reality and are not contradictory to each other and are therefore both true. At that point, to respect someone, you can choose to refer to someone according to their preference. Surely it's not the same as an Indian calling himself Chinese. Now that would be a statement not corresponding to reality and hence, false. At that point, it would show more respect to point a person to the truth than to indulge in their lie.

We do not fight for this world, if we do, then Jesus is a liar. Is that what you are? Listen to what RC says from 26:00.

The Resurrection of the dead...is it true or What? And how about the soul? Where does it go?

For an example of redundancy, he says at 21:33, 'Jewish rabbi'. Is there any other kind? In fact, it is a synthetic a priori statement: It tells you that rabbis can be Jewish, if, incredibly, you're watching him and don't already know that.

Actually...new students have already dedicated themselves to the opposite of relativism...the either/or. To wit, it's EITHER relativism...OR it's not...

love him, but 33:40 did not age well considering that people can call themselves the opposite gender now or make up one. I know he did not intend it that way, although he already knew that "truth" started to become "relative".

Why wouldn't the myriads of similar verses not say "those chosen to believe at creation will be saved"? Because it would be an acçursed predestined different gospel! Those that do believe are predestined to be conformed to Christ's image. Believe and trust the Bible, not men
