Who Is the Truth?: A Blueprint for Thinking with R.C. Sproul

In the development of a solid Christian worldview, we need a solid foundation. Unfortunately, many have not done that. As a result, many corners of modern Christianity resemble the religions of the world. Where is the church in her thinking about God? What place does He really hold in the minds of Christians? In this message entitled “Who is the Truth?” Dr. Sproul points us back to our Creator as we seek to understand ourselves and interpret the world around us.
This is the 3rd message in a series on Christian thinking by R.C. Sproul. See other videos in the series: • A Blueprint for Thinki...

I miss R.C. ...I struggle with truth as an atheist 15 years ago . And by the grace of God I came across R.C. Sproul one day on the radio. And he spoke so well,so intellectually so historically rich that I was so stimulated to keep looking for hes teaching. I became a Christian after many years of this amazing apostle of God . He spoke truth. Jesus is amazing! And I'm so thankful for R.C Sproul.

Having absorbed the first two videos in this series, I'm elated to discover there are yet more. Oh that I had been exposed to such teaching in my younger years! Over the past 8 or 9 years, Ligonier's Ministry has tremendously blessed me. Having been inculcated with various tools, and lenses through which to peer, has enabled me to cogitate more deeply and usefully on sundry aspects of the world, with emphasis on theology, hence the teleology of life in its multitudinous facets. Don't ask for my telos in making this comment as I'm not really certain. Perhaps it has something to do with my yearning to be of greater benefit to my siblings in Christ. It's tough to sell myself when, educationally, I merely possess 20 years of "autodidactic" study. I suppose I was wrong: that degree would have been worth something after all. Now, I'll listen to this one. Thank you for your prayers for an old man still working to mortify the flesh, and to help bring disciples to maturity.

Another great teaching by R.C. Sproul!! I believe the most life changing way to realize truth is by "going through" life situations. Driving by a car accident or hearing about it on the news is one thing, but when you are IN a car accident it gives you a different perspective. I find this to be true in our spiritual walk as well! The more intense the situation, the better the understanding will be. I remember many life lessons which came from tragic circumstances. I always reflect with the attitude of what did I learn from that?!? Did going through that mold me into a better person, or show a character flaw? Personal reflection is so critical in our spiritual walk, but we must be OPEN to it. We must be humble enough to realize we are going to make mistakes in this life and react accordingly...................God bless you all

LOL, AMEN……@13:25 I guess I’m a theologian also. I have always endeavored and without even thinking to find God in everything. My mother taught me how to convert things …… to see God in things. To a point of course I’m not saying converting sin. But I never saw Moby Dick the way he explained that book in the introduction to this series. That’s just amazing. I would have so much enjoyed being able to talk to him. I was a grown woman whenever he was around TEACHING. And I never had a chance of sitting under him. It’s a joy and a treat to find him now. I have an atheist Facebook friend that I’m going to send this series to and I’m gonna tell him, “guess what he agrees that you should use your mind to think about God” and then when he listens maybe he will finally hear and listen to comprehend.

It was so encouraging to hear about his Christian philosophy professor! God bless that man. People like that are on the front lines of spiritual battle. They get very little credit for it. They're often even criticized for being in that profession. But if not for such people, many Christians would fall away. Imagine if this professor had not been in RC's life when he was! Imagine the world without RC's strong biblical teaching. People like that professor are heroes just as much any missionary going to some isolated country. Only eternity will reveal the reaches of their influence for Christ's kingdom. When hearing challenges, so many Christians do the plug-your-ears, "I believe it, that settles it", thing he described earlier. Nowhere does the Bible present or command such a thing. The biblical worldview is entirely defendable! We must learn these other worldviews and how the Bible addresses them. It doesn't have to be formally in a philosophy class. But philosophy is everywhere, every day. We must have the biblical worldview that knows how to take these things apart and how God's Word is superior to anything made up by man.

One of the most common logical fallacy has the name ad hominem or “against the person.” Ad hominem arguments are usually defined as those in which an attack on a person is substituted for a response to an argument. This continues the discussion of general errors in reasoning with the treatment of vacuity. We must examine deficiencies in relevance, those that involve inferences from factors that have nothing to do with the relationship between evidence and claim. Some fallacies are deficiencies in relevance. These result from introducing a factor that has nothing to do with the relationship between the evidence and the claim.
