    Thank you a lot for this! Could you please make a video talking about the different medical specialties in Germany, mainly in terms of work-hours, average differences in salaries and how much competition one would expect to find accessing each specialty? Love your contents, a big hug from neighbouring Portugal :)

    If you're alone, depending on where you live - housing costs and if you drive a car or not, you'll spend somewhere between 1500- 2000 monthly. If you're good with money and find cheap accommodation, you'll be OK with 1500 and under. Best of luck! 👍

    Thank you so much for such an informative video. I'm working on my German language now and hoping to come soon. My interest is cardiology residency. But I also hope to get a PhD. Do you think that that can be done at a regional hospital? And is it possible to run residency side by side with a PhD programme? Thank you.

  • @EutopianDoctor

    @EutopianDoctor

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Abdul, it's my pleasure :) very small regional hospitals might not have cardiology at all, and if they do, it will be more difficult to get in than internal medicine. Still possible though. Another possibility is starting in internal and after 1 year switching to cardiology. About PhD, doing it while working sounds very complicated. Most likely only possible if you do both with the same institution ( which would be an university hospital, not a regional one) but you can still try :) I haven't got a PhD myself so I can't tell from my own experience, but generally germans stop working while doing it. The university pays you for as long as you do the PhD with them, and I heard it's about 2000 euros a month, so taking 2 years off for PhD doesn't become a financial problem. Anyway best of luck with german!! Bye!

    You would have a better chance at a university hospital for your PhD. If you can't straight away get a position there (high demand) you could just work for a regional hospital for a year, you chances will much higher afterwards. Nothing is impossible. Good luck!!👍

Even if you don't want to pursue clinical medicine forever, it's a very good stepping board. After working for a year you'll basically find anything you want. Good luck!! 👍
