Do you live in Australia? Have you got it in? I do not mean any offence by but the majority of people would not be able to get accepted into medicine (in Australia at least). Coming from a nursing background you would need to put in serious time in studying chemistry, physics and physiology to pass the GAMSAT (A nursing degree will definitely not prepare you fro that exam) and need to of gotten almost straight HDs in your undergrad (you can do honours to boost your grades if you need). Again not trying to be mean but its good to know the commitment needed before you try. Financial wise the salary can be very misleading looking at what a junior doctor makes. A trick I got told (by multiple experienced doctors) was add 50% to every base salary to get an accurate salary up until consultant level (this is due to overtime and penalty rates). At consultant level you would be extremely well paid, even GPs are often payed >300k per year and its common for consultant surgeon to make over a million in Australia. If its your dream go for it and although it is a huge sacrifice its pays off it the end.

Except for having status to show it to someone in back, doctors are earning and spending all there . 30 to 50 % tax means you earn and pay them back. Means you are made to work as donkey for 8 hours a day. Then you have to earn by doing part time in order to survive. Its all in USA UK Australia and all show piece countries that makes employees nothing less than a slave
