If you practice intermittent fasting, you may have heard the term 'Autophagy.' While Autophagy helps regulate metabolism and can assist in weight loss, there are many other surprising benefits of this natural process.
But hold on, what is Autophagy exactly? In this video, I'll break down Autophagy in the most easy-to-digest way and reveal its incredible benefits (that you'll wish you had known about sooner). Autophagy is amazing. I started eating a keto diet and doing Intermittent Fasting (IF) as a way of life 4 months ago after I was diagnosed with the beginnings of fatty liver disease. After only 1 month of implementing these things, I went on a 72 hour water fast, so that I could really ramp up the autophagy level. I kid you not, but a chronic pain condition that I had in my right calf for 40 years (yes, FORTY years) was cured. Cured. My doctor told me that my 72 hour fast / autophagy clean-up, was the reason. Amazing! I do IF on a 18:6 daily schedule, but once a week eat OMAD (One Meal A Day). I feel better than I have in years, look better, my inflammation is greatly reduced, and I've lost 25 pounds (out of the 30 pounds that I was overweight for my size). Next month I'll do another 72 hour fast for another robust autophagy session. I'm going to do these 3 times a year for life. Truly amazing.

I've been vegan (whole food plant based) since 2017 and currently doing the 16/8.. Have done it before and now want to try fasting for 1, 2, 3 days plus.. I'm looking to getting rid of or reducing inflammation in my lower back ( an old injury, having had 3 cortisone injections in my lower spine ) which can restrict me from working out at times ( I've been keeping fit since age 16 but age and injury can slow you down some) , although I can go for absolute miles on my mountain bike 30/50 and 70 + mile rides when my fitness is at it's peak was never a problem. So I'm intrigued by the Autophagy side of fasting :) I'm coming up to my 63rd birthday 22/ 01/ 24 :)

The health benefits from fasting are so powerfull that even if bulking is you're goals you're smart to include fasting in you're lifestyle. Do not fast post workout meals or the day after weight lifting exercise! Start you're fast minimum 48 hours after end weights lifting exercise. You don't lose muscle mass from 48-72 fast. Drink plenty of water with Himalayan salt added ' Takes Magnesium too ' Black coffe do not breake you're fast and its awesome to remove the hunger feeling. Who do not wants you're overal health to be awesome.

All works for me, a suggestion to promote, I eat 1 meal a day, most would think this as some sort of self inflicted punishment. NO. Unless you are a growing child, or an elite athlete, we need to debunk this belief you need 3 meals a day. It takes some 2 weeks for your body to adjust, but after that, you never feel hungry on 1 meal a day. Unless you eat added sugar / too many carbohydrates, that will keep you hungry.

@@Vincent-qh7zz it does occur bro, i had heared, watched, read at many places , autophagy occurs with exercises and mild stress of intermittent fasting whenever u are at calorie deficiet state for a extended period 12 or 16 hours it start to happen thats why thoso who practice intermittent or skip meal prevent better many diseases, it occurs more with 24 or 48 houts fasting but that cannot be dailly practice thats why 16:8 intermittent fasting is beneficial.

Hi can you tell me if taking cod liver oil or fish oil ( omega 3 ) in my 16 hrs of fast does break it? As I stop eating at 8 and starts eating at noon for my 16/8 IF but l am not sure that l am doing good as l take my omega 3 in the morning at 9 a.m.I am worried about doing it bad and am breaking my 16/8. Please help me and thank you for all you videos so easy to understand and well explained

I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos! With your question about cod liver oil/omega-3, there are conflicting opinions on this, but my opinion is that this likely won't break your fast, as it's pure fat in a miniscule amount, and so is unlikely to increase your blood sugar and create an insulin response. Hope that helps!

Number 5 is my number 1. Remove man made processed poison permanently. Sugar, Fructose, white flower, carb overload, low fat poison, anything with a complex label and multiple daily insulin spikes is your killer. When you abuse/overwork your pancreas for decades expect dark Adaptations. The good news these Adaptations are reversible. The bad news? We're loaded with food Junkies, no proof of recovery is possible for some.

The American Heart Association is full of it. The study you refer to has not been published, nor peer reviewed. If you follow a good, healthy diet, your heart will be just fine. If you think about it logically, eating breakfast at 9am is not going to lead to a heart attack. Unless you're eating a dozen donuts every morning, of course.

How can you even lump intermittent fasting and autophagy into the same subject? Autophagy doesn’t start until 24 hours. Intermittent fasting is breaking up a 24 hour period and repeating. Just doing an intermittent fast will never get you into autophagy. You people will do anything for somebody to click on your video, including straight out lying to people. You’re misleading people. Stop it.
