Yes, only the coupon is taxed, so the money deposited in your account is less the tax, for FXDs.

Very informative. I understand the bonds are low risk investment. But would not be advisable to invest in a sacco? That would pay probably at the same rate?

It would depend on your financial needs. I have done a comparison of sacco and bonds on my tiktok account.

Hi Angela, there is something i did not understand on the topic of making money via the investment. Say i put 100,000/= with a 10% coupon making 10,000/= p.a. Is this 10k the amount i will get as profit or? Because if i do 10,000 x the ten years it results to the same anount i put and if i invested via FXD then it gets worse cuz id have lost some cash due to tax.

The 10K is profit(coupon). After maturity, you get your 100K back.

You first open a cds account with the CBK. Visit their offices and don't forget to tick the mobile option.

I don’t understand how viable it is. If you invest 100k, you end up getting 10k P.a??? Is that not too low?? Is there any other way to crack it?
