This is why frames are not the end all-be all. You can do a move, like Jin demon paw, which is like -7, and use the pushback to bait retaliation cuz the opponent is incentivized to pressure you cuz “Omg they’re minus I gotta take my turn!” without considering the spacing. Brian F did a video about spacing traps exclusively. While it’s on SFV, the concepts still apply here.

Been playing this game for five years and my spacing is still spotty at best. I'm almost always too close to make something whiff or too far away to actually capitalize on a whiff. It's weird that when I play Kazumi and running 2 gets blocked, I start trying to back dash or sidestep almost as a reflex.

Cool explanation! Read it in The Footsies Bible back in the day and it made the games way more interesting for me.

my main spacing trap was with Devil Jin's df+44 or ws44. after it hit, I would do a backdash and EWGF punish their whiffed attacks. a lot of people will fall for it but some will catch on and rush in on you but like TBS said, then you can throw out a keep out move!

I use yoshi's cd1 after landing df1,4. Most df2s will whiff and you can launch them in return. It also catches sidesteps

I used to work in a startup in Finland, and we had a boss who was just obsessed with playing Rocket League. Once we were playing some MKX, he came over and said it's so easy, there's no depth, just do combos and that's it you win, Rocket League on the other hand... And he went on describing how Rocket League is much more complicated than fighting games... Don't you just love working with stupid people who like to feel smart :D That's not to say that Rocket League is an easy game, I'm sure it has its own depth, but like why do some people like to make themselves feel better and special by belittling some other thing they don't like/understand/suck at. That I will never get. It's exactly this, every time you learn something new in a fighting game you get a thousand things to to learn more right after. And after you learned all the basic stuff there come the mind games that pretty much have no limit for perfection. But anyways, great video:)

Imo. Rocket league has a load of depth but not anywhere close to as much as fighting games. Execution though... Some of the hardest in video games. There's almost no upper limit. The more you practice it the more you realize the pros are in a different universe entirely
