Excellent guide! Always neglected this during matches but now ill be fisherman slamming that low instead of low parrying it
Pressing up and press either of the leg in the right frame makes you do instant whilestanding moves catches your opponent and also much safer

What I don't get (as a Tekken Novice) is why low parries only give you half a juggle. Isn't low parrying harder than a block-launch punish?

@@PinkManGuy it's to interrupt strings that can't normally be guard punished, or to get a better reward on a poke that would've been just a ws4 punish, instead you get a combo. Lower dmage because there is no launcher but still better than a ws4 in most cases, unless the low is really unsafe than you can launch punish it.

Wasn't aware wake up kicks had different frame data depending on what position you're waking up from. You really don't want to be in a face down, feet away position. Which makes me happy Kazumi has two moves that can cause that.

Yes! Just change the animations when blocking them so you know when it’s unsafe.

No. Obviously the roll in getup kicks should be safer. You're already taking a risk by rolling in. And isn't one of the lows a normal hit launcher? Variety is almost always better the homogenization

From the tekken 8 trailer it seems as if there is more puchback in general, so I wouldn't be surprised if they increased pushback on getup kicks to some extent.

@@sixsideddeath5529 well that's a good point. I still think it could be made simpler without depth. I'd like a stager on the launch punishable ones. They already have a different animation but I think that's not a bad idea.

@@legend0945 I don't think everything that's launch punishable needs to hold your hand and make it obvious. Like you said, it already has a different animation AND it's a getup kick. Meaning you knocked them down into that position. Just remember which moves cause them to land like that (there really aren't a lot) and punish accordingly. It also teaches you not to recklessly mash after being knocked down. Staggers also leave you way more -15. If you compensate for this change by just also locking the defender for a little longer, then the games pace is slowed down in exchange for a lower skill floor and ceiling. It lowers the bar for player skill expression by making things easier to punish. Like how i punish wind god fist on reaction everytime because I main Gigas and it's vital into scaring them to not just mash them out. The obvious immediate and easy solution to me is just for the game to clearly tell you that these are different moves. Just have a "generics/universal" move list section where it gives you frames on their (dick) jab, generic D4, wall jump, running attacks, and get up options.

U should also point out those wake up lows that launches on hit. I used to be so confused when I was starting out why I was getting launched by an opponent whose getting up but when I do the same it doesnt happen.

the only wake up low that launches on hit is face away, face down, with clean hit, so your opponent should be very close to you

@@TheJakeJackson U might be partially right there bcos ofc I didnt know what a CH was when I started out. But I was talking about the get up lows and they dont "only launch on CH". It is for the purpose of such misconceptions, that I think it should be informed that one could get launched even without CH on a get up low kick. Judging by the likes on ur previous comment, its safe to assume there r even more confused people who seem to agree they all launch on CH only.

Only because they have this illusion of being a minor thing you can overlook, yet you end up being punished for being ignorant. Seriously, lab this like you would any other kind of setup, combo, Okizeme, etc. and you'll find it really is almost as simple as rock, paper, scissors. It's actually even simpler when you consider your opponent so often just want to get back up they'll auto pilot to their favorite get up option.
FACE DOWN FEET AWAY THAT THE WE LIKE TO FU….. play fundamental tekken
