My first laptop had XP and while it didn't have Internet, I have fond memories of playing around with the programs. I always liked the assistants. Clippy was fine but I always preferred Rover. I actually felt like I was getting better with the computer with their help. If Clippy comes back, I hope he brings his friends with him.

As someone who used the name "Bonzey Bunny" for few years, its really funny to me to watch the BonzieBuddy part of the video since the name "Bonzey" and "Bonzie" is basically identical sounding name. Also, until watching this video, i didn't know anything about Bonzie. So whenever i looked up my old username, in earlier times, the only thing that google showed me is the purple monkey himself. So hearing who Bonzie is is both funny and kinda ominous not gonna lie lol

In Japan there was Kairu the dolphin in place of Clippy. It was somewhat a meme to respond お前を消す方法(how do I erase you?) when it asked what it should look up for you.

I actually think clippys design is pretty clever. I hope he returns someday. Maybe as a movie reference or as a game character or something i dunno. you should really look into the Ukagaka / Ghost community! it's basically a community about this very subject, but with a modern and open-source twist to it! its usually based around popular fictional characters, but it's still worth checking out! some are even story-based and have multiple routes you can take!!!

Dude when I was little my uncle had Microsoft Bob and I thought it was a game and I’d beg him to let me play MicrosoftBob and my uncle always thought that it was so silly. NOW I UNDERSTAND 😂😂

My siblings and I loved playing with the Microsoft Office Assistants. We figured out a way to get them onto the Desktop and a few other places. My favorite trick was getting the cat to ‘pick up’ the desktop wallpaper and look under it.

Honestly, I loved Bonzi as a kid, but he's also proof of my stupidity, always redownloaded it when PC had to be formatted because of him, i dident find out he was spyware till much much later.

Does anybody remember anybody’s elementary and middle schools making them spend time on a math software with these weird characters on it? We spent an hour a day in the computer lab playing this weird computer math software. Basically you answer math questions, and in the corner of the screen is one of three characters, they react to your answers by being sad or dancing etc. my favorite was the purple dinosaur, I know there was a dog and a third character I can’t remember, but I believe it was maybe more feminine. This around the time of AR reading, around early 2010’s

It's so interesting to see how school curriculum has changed from the time I was in elementary school. When I was in elementary school, the computers weren't the tool everyone already knew how to use, it was the subject of its own entire class, and we didn't do anything other than learn to open documents and figure out Word, and use folders and stuff. I didn't get to use a computer to actually _create_ something until I was in 7th grade, because the computer class was new curriculum in 6th. Most of us already knew how to do the stuff they were teaching us because all of us had to figure it out at home to get to the games. lol I think the teacher was the only one learning this information for the first time.

There is a lot more forgotten internet stuff from the early 2000's.

Rover is one of my favorites.

Clippy, Merlin & the cat were my favs. I have the last version of Office that still allowed them to work, but it was an extra download I had to place myself, but works great. Merlin was also available with M.A.S.H. Microsoft Agent Scripting Helper).

I find it funny that bonzi inspired an extremely popular horror game you might know of call kinitopet man we've come far
