    What a great video, really enjoy your channel and the information you share! (so thank you for helping me grow!) If there's one thing I could ask, is a video that compare a product owner to a product manager and you thoughts on this.... (sorry if you already did one, not gone to it yet hah!)

    This is a good description of an entry level product management position. It's a narrow slice of what product managers are responsible as they grow in the career. So, for those interested in the function, this leads to roles where you'll manage teams, gain responsibility for product strategy, multi-functional product launches, business/pricing models, ROI/NPV, innovation and customer research, and ultimately, if interested, a general management role.

    I worked as a Product Marketing Intern at Amazon and was kinda thrown into the Product Management/Development Process without knowing the whys and hows. I learned a lot but your perspective on Product Management really helped me understand all the processes we went through and all the meetings I had to attend. Given the short time as an Intern I couldn't see the full effect of every document or meeting but now, I do see the benefit of all that. Thanks a lot

    It's definitely a balancing act of meetings and building the documentation for our teams. The larger challenge I see is keeping the teams on point of the scope of work. Essential why the documentation is needed up front to keep folks focused. Too many times have I seen our meetings go down rabbit holes. So glad you're enjoying your first year! After being in various roles, PM is my fav as well. Going on year 7 as a PM.

    This is such a great video! I am graduating as an industrial production designer in the upcoming few months and thinking of where to go in my career. I am a very conceptual user centered maker. I don’t want to physically “make” each and every part of the concept but I do like: Understanding the need and why, the avatar, the story, the overall concept, solution, connecting stakeholders to it, the financial gain of the concept and the “how”. I was thinking that maybe product management could be something for me to look into? But I also really like teaching, explaining, coaching. So was also thinking of becoming an advocate.

    This is very informative. I work in the B2B space, so my understanding of product is different. It's pretty eye-opening for me to hear that there could be a product manager for something as simple as buttons. Your video made me realize that a consumer tech app isn't just a single product, but a conglomeration of multiple products. I can see why there would be worry of feature cannibalization.

  • @chloeshih

    @chloeshih

    Yesss! B2B and consumer tech is totallyyy different. Feature cannibalization is one of the main fears of any feature being rolled out. There's also always a ton of conflict between different teams with different North Stars. Some of them actually oppose each other, and there's a fine balance we need to strike. Org structures can get really complicated!

    @@chloeshih definitely! I'm not a PM but I work with PM for >5 years in the bay. I really think this is one of the best summary to describe product launches to anyone, tenured or entry level. You made it sound simple enough, but also covers all the important details. Excited to see more of your content!

    I already did! Been following you on your moving house, getting on Forbes 30 Under 30, launching your Server One PDT on Discord and your backlog of vlogs. I like it that you're always upbeat, bubbly and keep things informative, but succinct. It's also good to see that you're from Asian background but made it really well in a competitive field. I love your work ethics, coz a few years ago I worked for a start up where I was cutting everybody's slack. Felt like I was doing years of work in months. Good thing AI is out now. Have a great week ahead! 你好可爱,加油!! ❤🎉🎉
