To be honest? I really have not run it much. When I started playing with the GX CS2 I stopped filling bottles and used the GX CS2 almost exclusively. It started because I wanted to get a bunch of hours on it to see how it held up, next thing you know, I set it up on my truck, then my ATV, even made a cool Solar rig for it. It really is a nice little compressor.

I found mine ran too hot when recirculating the cooling water so I ran it to waste and kept the donor reservoir topped up with a hose. It ran a hell of lot cooler; about 20°C lower. This will lead to less wear on the compressor motor over time. Nice bit of kit for airgunners and dive bottles (with the filter upgrade). Had mine for 18 months, it cost me £156 at the time (prices have virtually doubled since then) but it's not auto. It will hold up. Mine has had a lot of use since my airgunner friends found I had one. In fact I didn't realise I had so many friends. LOL

Thank you for commenting Steven. When designing a cooling system the radiator needs to be radiating some heat sounds like you could have benefited from either more airflow, or more surface area, or both LOL. I find my little heater core is quite effective and keeps the actual head temp at 130-140F depending on ambient. The materials and lubricants are quite good at those temps. Waste water is not a really good option for me here in California. I have guns that fill that high, why wouldn't you fill your bottle that high? You get a LOT more fills per charge too. Have an awesome evening...

OK, one more automated function. Bleeding. It generates enough water, auto bleeding would be incredibly nice.

I'd advise to not go 220 if you don't have a receptacle or any 220v service available. The electric Motor isn't exactly the wearable parts to be concerned for, go with what's convenient. You are correct though sir, the 220v is more efficient, but the practicality is subjective to the user's situation 🙏🏻-(from your friendly airgunning electrician)

No I will not, I stand by recommendation and I know how much better they operate when wound for 220VAC vs 120VAC. If they (the viewer) do not have a 220VAC outlet, they can call a helpful electrician (maybe even you) and get a solution that starts MUCH easier. Have you tested them? Nearly every home in America has a 220VAC service. Adding an outlet is neither difficult or expensive in most cases. I appreciate your feedback and your time, but I do not agree with you on this topic. Also, when this video was done, the electronically controlled version was ONLY available wound for 220VAC, and THAT is when I saw the difference in ease of operation.

Did someone mention they found just the digital control for $90.00 and if so please post a link to the control only. Thank you and have a most awesome afternoon!

That fan is terrible and has all it can do to cool the motor, so no, if you want to water cool check out my other videos. An automotive heater core works VERY well as a small radiator, and changing the pump helps too, the one that comes with your Yong Heng is pretty bad.

I just purchased my first Yong Heng compressor. My digital gauge is different. For one, no batteries like the older ones, but mine has no controls. The display is 2 lines. The top RED line moves from 112 - 117. i have no idea what is is reading. The second line is BLUE and is the temp. that moves fine. Does anyone know what the top RED line is? Thanks in advance. CO

Do you find the digital controller to be superior to the standard "autostop" or "hardcover" version of this compressor? I messed up the cylinder head on my autostop version last year and I'm thinking about buying a whole new compressor and using my old one for spares since it works other than a cross threaded fitting.

I've got to be honest here, I don't use the Yong Heng much anymore. The GX CS4 is SO MUCH better. The electronic version is better IMHO.

@@TargetForge I ruined the head on my YH by putting in the top fitting in upside down last summer 😭 after taking a long break I want to get back into shooting my big bores and can't do that without a good compressor. I've had a few people suggest the CS4, but it's hard for me to justify twice the price of the YH. Not interested in replacing the head on my busted YH and would rather just buy another compressor, and getting another YH means I'll have a lot of parts. You have a ton of experience, what would you do in my shoes?

Why was the pressure still showing 100+ psi when you had the vent plug open? Either the pressure sensor is bad, or the meter wasn't zeroed. Is that a function that you can do with the compressor?

Bear in mind that the pressure measurement is not super precise, especially when looking at PSI vs. BAR, or Mpa. From a percentage stand point that error is 1% or so or less. For a Yong Heng that is "Man on the Moon" accuracy. Pressure sensor is likely fine, have not found a Zero meter procedure yet, not sure I will. If you're looking for that level of accuracy though, the Alkin is likely up to it, but that price point is gonna hurt. That being said Alkin makes a MUCH nicer compressor.

@@TargetForge Yeah, figured the accuracy wouldn't be close. As long as it shows an "about psi" then it should be good enough to use as a reference.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that the control system actually worked. I am not picking on YH I am speaking from experience with four YH units over the years and it always seemed to be something that was wrong or failed on the initial startup. Question: Did the temperature default back to C from F or did you manually switch it back? Thanks for sharing the journey with us, see ya at RMAC Bill.

Quick question please, because I do not know: where is the pump to return water to the compressor for cooling? Is the pump in the compressor itself or is it in the bottom of a 5-gallon bucket of water? Thanks.

The water pump supplied sits in the 5 gallon bucket and has separate power lead. It is not part of the compressor.

I would have to say "I don't know". I did not design the compressor and cannot speak to its compatibility with pure CO2. That being said, it's not a huge investment to get one and try. The oil contamination on the pressure side will happen and if having that in your pressurized CO2 is an issue you will need really good filters.

I'm going to guess that prices went up because demand went up. Despite not having a sterling reputation, Yong Heng DOES listen to the market space, and has fixed certain problems. Even with the bad wrap the YH has gotten, the Tuxing is quite a bit worse. Would I do a review? If they (Tuxing, or a generous user) supplied a unit I would gladly go through it and prepare a video with my thoughts. But spending my money on one, at this time, is probably not going to happen. If a viewer wanted to get one, ship it here, I could do a review and ship it out to them with the understanding that I accept no responsibility for the longevity of that unit. The cheapest type 46 hydraulic oil on Amazon. I've yet to see a failure on one of these related to lubrication, so why spend a fortune on snake oil? Just one guys opinion...

I got it at the Yong Heng store on AliExpress. I'm reluctant to post links to Chinese stuff as they seem to go invalid quite quickly. How is the new digital yong heng holding up alex

Good day, I am thinking about purchasing this for rifles from 3000psi all the way to 4500psi... HONESTLY, what is your experience with this as filling an air rifle? Also, would you recommend it? Lastly, how fast does it fill?

You ask the same question on two different videos. THIS unit will flow about 25L/min and is better suited to filling SCBA bottles. It also requires AC power and is not easily portable.

I've heard this tribal knowledge quoted often, but I've never seen actual data to support it. Perhaps that could be an episode? Run two units side by side and see which ones fails first, and why. One vented before switched off, and the other just switched off.

It's just not true. All the pressure stays behind the valve, no pressure applied to piston after such a stop.

On one of your episodes you wrapped the air line with copper for cooling and were thinking of wrapping the cast iron cylinder with copper for cooling. Look into thermal paste for computers GPU/CPU's for better heat transference. Just wondering what would happen if you wrapped a water separator in copper and chilled it?

Thank you for your tip Boris. Pretty sure it would act even more like a condenser. The trick would be actually being able to cool the column of air itself within a large diameter cylinder for it to be effective. That is how actual refrigeration based dryers work! Great idea!

Surely a 220v/240v powered motor would require a power frequency of 50Hz, not the 60Hz you have in the U.S? I understand that you typically get 240v into your homes but that is split into 110v as it’s a dual phase supply. Even so, it’s still sent to your home at a frequency of 60Hz, whereas domains that use 220v/240v to my knowledge use 50Hz. Could this frequency difference in power delivery negatively affect the motor over time?

Aren't you busy with your holistic detective work? Lol... Great question. ~20% speed increase is possible, you are correct. This unit starts instantly, runs cool on my cooling system. I've had no issues. When I bought it from Yong Heng directly, there was no issue on their end. Yong Heng's typically have catastrophic pump failure WAY before they have a motor failure. I can tell you mine runs great. I'm dubious of the really small start relay, I believe it is the weakness on this unit. Further, the name plate does not even specify a frequency and the spec listed on the Yong Heng site says 50/60Hz. I'm not stating that they have been the beacon of adherence to the standards of the world, especially the western world, but the darn thing works. Is the digitized signal from the pressure transducer too coarse? Yep. If the electronics survive the high vibration environment, I think this unit is superior to the mechanical dial auto stop units.

Hello Pat, thanks for the comment. I have not actually used this unit very much since that video. I started using the little GX pump in my "Young Heng Killer" video and I've not really filled a bottle since. Not saying I wont use this one down the road, I just haven't. That little GX pump is so easy to use, so quiet, it makes using the Yong Heng almost "Barbaric"? Lol.

The new digital control looks good.

I will add that the "expensive" shipping got it to me in California SUPER fast. Like 4 days including customs. I was reluctant to pay that, cause I really didn't need another compressor, but I wanted to get that story out first, I was pretty excited. I'd probably do it again...

That sounds about right, that was UPS hurry up mode (also the only choice available at the time), and given the current status at the ports on the West Coast it wasn't a bad choice. I will implore you to consider the 220VAC version. It starts SOOO MUCH easier. I know you trade convenience for performance, but it is easier for the unit electrically speaking. The next episode will feature a mod to take the load off of the little PCB mounted relay on this unit, and it will benefit both versions, but even given that, the start up is quite a bit faster on the 220V unit.

@@ronnieumberger You'll need to select a unit. This one is a 220V "Smart Digital" then it will populate the cost. Really poor web design if you ask me. But that's how you get the price. As far as I know this unit is currently only available in 220V. I will add that it runs SOOO much better than units wired for 110V. Worth the hassle!
