Wet & Wild Westcoaster to Warrnambool

Ойын-сауық

The weather report was not good, and video cameras hate rain, but so glad we done it! A2 986 & R761 showed what they were built for, thanks to the expertise of the Heritage crews and Steamrail. Managed to catch it at Spotswood, Geelong, Colac and Weerite on the down, then Warrnambool, pacing near Terang, Pomborneit, Colac, Winchelsea and Wiilliams Landing on the up.

question for someone who isn't sure why, but why couldn't the R double head until after the tunnel in Geelong? Great video btw.

The Geelong tunnel is over 1 km long on a 1 in 50 rising grade requiring the locos to work hard. Conditions for the crew on the second loco of a double header would be very difficult - particularly if something happened to one of the locos mid tunnel.

@@cliffleigh7450 , thanks for that, l had no idea the tunnel was that long or the grade that steep .
