I remember being hugged by my ex-wife an age ago and it felt so nice.The memory is hazy and the crazy thing is that when I do dream of making love to a lady it is always my ex wife and she is always beautiful and holds me. This song makes me cry. It was my mom and dad's song(well, The Troggs' version... they married in 1971). They were married 47 years. My mom passed away in February 2018 after a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer's. My dad took care of her every single day until her passing, keeping his vow to love, honor, and care for her forever. My mom also loved this version when she first heard it on the radio. This version has a special place in my heart because we were listening to it on the radio in the car when she told me the story of how they met.

She was welcomed by her parents and is dancing in Heaven. She gave me two great kids that that are being a great example of how to handle loss. I miss you LaDonna.

So very sorry 😞. My husband died as well and the pain never goes away. This is truly a love song.

I was 4 years old when this song came out and I have vivid memories of it being played as the sun was shining into the living room of my childhood home, my mum doing bits of housework. Now I have my own 4 year old son and I see his own nostalgic memories being created before my eyes. It's funny how music can make you feel.

I've been a singer, pianist and musician for about 27 years. I was trained in 2 school choirs - growing up. I remember I used to sing this about 17 years ago, on karaoke.. I was only about 20 at the time so I couldn't hit those higher notes, I'd struggle with singing it. 17 years later, my voice matured with age and I also worked on strengthening my higher range. I can sing it really well and smoothly now 😊
